We did not use the hotel, but only the restaurant - and also there only the “small menu” during the day. But we (five people) received excellent, very delicious down-to-earth food, so no Asian gimmicks or other experimental balloons from a chef. And also the service was excellent: very good advice and a very friendly service. Prices were perfectly reasonable.
And then there is this incredibly beautiful view from the garden terrace over the northern part of the island with the sea to the right and left.
Can you ask for more?

Everything fits here - Very nice room / studio with a fantastic view of the North Sea and the Wadden Sea - and that in morning sun - wonderful!
And even the “little things” are carefully selected such as reading lights and bedside lamps - or in the bathroom the generosity with bathtub and shower in the best execution - furniture simply modern and practical -
rotatable TV - and elegant !
Cuisine : balanced and rich offer of excellent quality -
Good wine offer at reasonable prices - at all : here the price/performance ratio is right !
Staff and service great - to feel good - overall a
Grade 1 !

Great rooms or suites. Great service, breakfast buffet leaves nothing to be desired. You can tell throughout the house that it is a family-run business. Value for money is absolutely fine. Always happy to return

Hey folks,

The “22” was celebrated here in the hotel and the 2 1/2 days in the hotel were truly the best.

We felt like we were being looked after in a brilliantly galactic way and the service was always there to help and we felt like we were being looked after extremely well, thanks to the management.

It is very pleasant here even in this weather, great views, cool activities in the hotel.

Beautiful rooms, we think it is simply trumpet-galactic here and we would be happy to come back.

The Hotel Rungholt is a place where you feel completely at home. The location on the Red Cliff is unique. The rooms are beautiful, the staff extremely polite. The breakfast is outstanding and the view from the restaurant is simply fantastic.

As always, a great week! It's always amazing how warm, friendly and personal the team at Rungholt is. Thank you for the lovely time! I also don't want to forget the great breakfast buffet and the dinner and the delicious cake.
And what would the Reiterbar be without Ms. Wallner?! We're already looking forward to our next stay...

We stayed for lunch with a small menu. The food was very good. The service friendly .
The premises are very pleasant. Unfortunately, the weather was not so good that we could use the beautiful terrace.
Very good was also the massage in the wellness area.

Stayed here in May/June 2012 with our large dog; booked directly by phone; arrived by car; stayed six nights (enjoyed three dinners in the hotel and breakfast every day).

Probably the best location on that side of Sylt island; in spite of the majority of guests being regulars (and ur-German... not in an unpleasant way!), we (one British person and one mongrel plus the huge-sized dog) were warmly welcomed and treated exceptionally well throughout. Their Saturday evening dinner buffet deserves special mention, too.

PLEASE NOTE:
the reason for this review appearing with such delay is that we have only now (May 2013) been able to finally fight our laziness in reviewing the more than 60 hotels and B&Bs we stayed at in 2012 and, so far, in 2013.
As everyday (!) users of this site, we feel we must make the effort of contributing - we also think that there aren't enough real reviews by real people (even on this site).

The hotel location of the hotel is the best in the whole island of Sylt. It is in-between the Nordsee and Watten Meer and from the hotel, you can have a view to the both. The staff are nice, especially the restaurant staff. Breakfast is fantastic as it offers lots of fresh berries and very good quality Lachs. One can order eggs to be made. We took a half-board and the food was delicious and of a high quality. We had a suite, 413 that faced the Nordsee and Uwe Dune and it was spacious, even the the suite itself was sparsely furnished. We would have expected a small fridge and a Nespresso machine, but there weren't any in the suite. The bar is smaller than we had thought, but the lobby and the outside garden is very pleasant place to linger. The spa is rather small. Even though this is a family run hotel, we were never greeted nor approached by the owners (we saw the husband one evening in the dinning room greeting guests, but he didn't approach our table even though we stayed 8 nights in the hotel. It isn't the fault of the hotel, but my husband and I felt that we were in a retirement hotel as the majority of the guests were quite old! Even though we had mentioned that we were celebrating our 25th anniversary, the hotel made no effort to recognize this in anyway. A small gesture could go a long way.... Sylt is a beautiful island, slow in pace and a good place for R&R. If you like fresh oysters, this is the place to be!
