Detailed Reviews
Qom was our first stop in Iran and it couldn't have been better. Qom hostel is not a hotel, not even a hostel, is much more than that. It's what we were looking for, the opportunity to spend time with locals and know a different Iran. Shima helped us with everything (transfer from airport to Qom even though we arrived very late)The room was clean and convenient and the beds were very confortable. In the morning we had a wonderful breakfast with her and Kami, her husband, where we had an interesting conversation with them and other nice tourists. We never felt like guests. We felt like friends. They helped us to continue our trip so everything was perfect with them. Thank you so much for everything Shima and Kami!

I stayed at Qom Rumi Hostel a few months ago, intending on just a quick one-night stopover which quickly turned into a three-night stay. It would be a shame to stay in Qom for just one night, because Shima and Kami are the most gracious hosts–-their hospitality exceeds the already extremely high Iranian standard. We had many lovely meals together, including an unexpected and fabulous spread put on for Kami's relatives. Ask for Kami's crepes.
Apart from being good people, Shima and Kami are deeply knowledgeable about tourism in Iran. If you want to go somewhere, they know how to get there and where to stay. They even helped me after I left Qom, providing some invaluable travel advice just when it was needed.
I opted for the homestay and the accommodation I received was clean and comfortable. Perhaps a bit hard to find, but I think they were going through some renovations. Qom itself is beautiful, with more to keep you busy than you might be think from the Lonely Planet. Shima directed me to a nearby hamam (so good!), and of course the shrine is a must-see. Also some great international food an account of all the international pilgrims.
Overall: great place, highly recommended, lovely people, lovely food, lovely city.
P.S. Sorry guys for the late review!!

The dorm was full so I chose the homestay option. It was the best decision. Shima and Kami made everything to make me comfortable. I felt that it was my home. They helped me during my stay in Qom and also they gave me suggestions for places to visit Iran.
Everything was easy and the location is perfect, close to the important places.
It will be an unforgettable memory!

We booked a twin room early January 2019 at Qom Hostel for euro 20 a night.
When we arrived we saw a very dirty windowless room with pubic hair on the beds and on the fridge.
No towels and no sheets and no toilet paper were not provided by Qom hostel, which charged us 20 euro per nite in a dirty and windowless tiny room.
We never paid more than 15 euro a night in any accomodation in Iran for a twin private en suite with home made breakfast.
We decided to talk to the manager about it and get our money back.
The manager was unavailable to us, but we were told we had to pay 300 tomans for cancellation fee!!
Which we did as we needed to rest and find another acvomodation.
All around the same area and in the main square, in front of the beautiful Fatimeh Masumeh shrine, many hotels were offering us beautiful twin rooms ensuite with wifi and breakfast, sheets, towels, toilet paper and all day free tea.
Also we visited the Holy Shrine and the Mosque with a guide provided by the guardians themselves , free of charge.
We visited the beatiful Holy cpmplex twice and they provided chadors for us, free of charge.
10 euro in Iran is a lot of money for Iranians as well as for turists.
20 euro for a depressing and dirty airless room is a rip off.
We found the walking tour pricey and not necessary.
The Qom hostel offers walking tours with confusing fees....5 euro per person and 40 euro...
That amount of money is a week's salary in Iran.
the Holy Shrine and Mosque complex guides will show you inside for free and you can ask the guides (who speak English and have multiple university degrees), any questions.
We choose one great hotel nearby for 12 euro and stayed 3 nights.
Best is to go inside hotels and ask, as somwtimes their websites wont show up.

This review is for the home stay, which can be arranged over their Whatsapp.
The owners live in an apartment which is close to the actual hostel. The location is really convenient; right between the holy shrine and the train station.
In the appartment I stayed in a separate room.
The couple are glad to talk about their own lives in Iran and are hospitable; food is shared and they arrange your Snapp for you.
I would stay again. Bear in mind though, that comfort levels (bed, bathroom) may vary from what you are used to in your own home. Embrace this. There is a difference between travelling and tourism.

The hostel is great: it has everything you need - AC, lockers etc. It's also five minutes walk from the shrine.
But what really made this place one of the best experiences in Iran and of all my trips were the owners Shima and Kami. Everyday they would serve us traditional Iranian breakfast, we ate lunch and dinner with them twice, they gave us a free tour of the city (shrine, mosque, bazaars etc). We also went to a famous traditional restaurant in town where we enjoyed the evening. At nighttime we played cards and shared life :-) they became real friends. Or temporary family 😉
I could not be more grateful! I recommend this place a lot - It was so fantastic. Thanks Shima and Kami, you are amazing ❤️

I visited Qom with Shima and Kami. More than this city that is wonderful, I will remind for ever the kindness and the friendship of this couple. We spended an amazing time together. If you have the chance that Kami makes you some « crepe », you can tell me thank you for it 😇! Enjoy your stay there !

I spend 2 days at Shima’s and Kami’s place. They have been very kind and hospitable. On the evening we went to eat dinner and they showed us (2 more travellers) the city. They helped me to further plan my trip southwards. Highly recommended, thank you very much for the nice stay!

My stay at Shima and Kami's place was really pleasant! They make you feel at home! They were so easy-going, kind and helpful, so well informed about culture, society, etc. and they both love to share that knowledge with you and answer any question. Super well-located, I bet their place is the best option when in Qom, which can somehow become a tough city to visit, yet interesting and worth it, in my opinion.
I would totally recommend it!
