We had an amazing holiday at the Black Sands. The diving was superb, we saw everything from the Mototi octopus, flamboyant cuttlefish, squid mating, loads of cool nudibranches and shrimps (some undefined species), eels, ambon scorpionfish and many frogfish of different sizes.. the list goes on. The dive guides had sharp eyes and the whole crew at the dive centre... More

My wife and I have just returned from a very last minute 4 days of diving at Black Sands and are already planning our next visit. We arranged and booked the trip the day before arrival and given limited internet access while traveling, Fung and Bruce could not have been more helpful, accommodating and trusting of us to actually show... We had the most wonderful dives and peaceful honeymoon retreat with Black Sand! A beautiful resort with spacious rooms and the most amazing outdoor toilets, super personalized service and dining, dive guides with eagle eyes, a most well-equipped dive center, flexible diving schedules.. we really couldn't ask for more. They were even so kind as to give us a spectacular... More

Bruce and his wife Fung run a very nice cottage type of resort in the famous Lembeh Strait. Bruce was a pioneer in Lembeh and one of the first to spend time in the water and discover what a treasure of marine life existed there. He's one of the ones who put the place on the map. Their resort sits... More

First time I came, I was so amazed by the room, so spacious, clean and I can see the shore from my room. The food so delicious and all the staff so helpful. Glad i have chances to snorkeling and seen such a beautiful fish and coral in Lembeh. Love the ambience and enjoyed my stay so much. Can't wait... More

Although i'd been to Manado and the islands offshore, i'd never been to Lembah or 'muck-diving' before. I'm a relatively inexperienced diver (more a snorkeller) but wanted to see what the fuss was about - preferably in a small resort with a more personable atmosphere where the diving would be geared towards my inexperience. And i'm so glad I ended... More

My time at Black Sand Dive Retreat was nothing short of spectacular. I spent five days with them over the Balinese holiday of Nyepi this year. It felt like the entire staff went above and beyond to make my stay there really special. I was warmly welcomed by their operation manager, Rustam, upon arrival and shown to my bungalow that... This is a superb price/quality resort and dive center. The owner is also an experienced diver with knowledge and he can inform you on the interesting things to find. The resort only accommodates around 12 people so it's never overcrowded. The bungalows are spatious, comfortable and clean, the bathroom in balinese style. Choice out of three menu's of a 3-course... Bruce, Fung, Max and Ben made us feel like welcome family as we were pampered three time a day with three courses of tasty, healthy local cuisine as well as our own spacious cabin with front porch and Balinese open air bathroom. Not only is owner Bruce Fung a friendly engaging host, but he is a walking encyclopedia eager to... More

The diving: we were new to muck diving but loved it, 30+ sites all within 10 mins (most within 5) lots of new weird and wonderful critters to see and the night dives were very special; the diving operation is well organised and slick, your gear is put on the boat for you and taken off after....all very easy and...
