The bedsheet was terribly dirty, I had to ask the hotel staff to get it changed as soon as we checked in, that at 9pm ! It was one of those cold nights, we asked for room heater. We were told that the heater comes at an extra cost of RS.300/night and there's no guarantee that the blower will throw hot air ! Funny, but true. The room given to us was in level 2 ( First floor , as referred in India) but there's no elevator. The bathroom had bare minimum aminities, though it was clean. The water was lukewarm in the morning, fit enough for a bath. The hotel is bang on the bazar street, has some place to park a few cars of the guest. The hotel's front desk could not pull up the reservation by first name or last name, they wanted to see my booking confirmation from the travel portal. The charging points were very limited, couldn't charge more than 2 devices simultaneously. Among the few positives are the quick service by the hotel's staff and they were always willing to help. And, the dal-sabzi in dinner was decent and tasty. Overall, not worth the money spent. …
I vote this hotel as the worst in my 30 yrs of travelling experience. This is a hotel where rooms have naked plug points without any switch to off/on which is not only against all standards of electric safety but caused a minor accident in my room for which they charged me and fleeced money from me. They never switch on their generators in case of loadshedding during daytime. There is a terrace available only to a few rooms and the view is mundane. It is situated in a market, surrounded by an infertility clinic and a small temple. The feeling is of a time warp-- rooms, staffs, fixtures, everything is lackadaisical.
Nice large clean room with fluorescent stars and moons glowing in the ceiling after dark. The view from the terrace is a definite bonus. Nice staff, but some passing tourists made a lot of noise in the corridors at night - can the staff put up warning notices, please?
Very near to the Bus Station but The view of the Almora Town and Mountain Range is fantastic form the Terrace. The Hotel have to level of Terraces and our room was in it. We also had our lunch on terrace.
Hotel has large spacious rooms and the service is slow. Its location on the main road and proximity to bus and taxi stand makes it a convenient place to stay. The staff and fixtures are old fashioned so not to expect much.
The rooms are quite big, especially the toilet! But do not have high expectation for the price you pay. We stayed in this hotel on 3rd jun 2017 enroute to Badrinath. Even though we booked in advance, when we reached the hotel they informed they did not get any information. Luckily the room was available and we spent the night. They do not have wi-fi.People are helpful. We stayed there on 5th jun also. I called the hotel and got the room booked.
No doubt the first look of the hotel gives a pleasant look but the experience with the staff, rooms, service is below average. We reached the hotel and moved to do the checkin. The front office staff was not there and some hotel guys in bad shape (bell boys i guess) were roaming around and watching as if we were the first of the human beings they ever saw. After waiting for about 15 - 20 minutes, we were able to check in and reached the rooms. The rooms were shabby with a strange damp smell. Being tired after a long journey, we decided to settle. We were there for a trip of 5 days. The bathrooms were untidy. In the evening, we ordered some food and that took almost 1 hour 30 minutes to reach us. We checked out the very next morning and settled in some other hotel.
This is a very middle class budget hotel. The rooms are not very nice and just good enough to spend a night. The place is too crowded too. Not much of a view as well, except the city at night. We booked thorough sites and had to pay almost double of the actual rates as well, which hurt. Better call and book directly. Take the rooms on the second floor. They are much better. No WiFi as well. Just one night stay is recommended on the way down from Binsar or Munsiyari.
Very courteous staff and owners. Rooms are beautifully done and are spanking clean. Foods good too and the whole feel of ALMORA makes this a nice place. The curd with fried mustard is absolutely loveable.
