With its towering ancient trees, enchanting chorus of forest birds, mystical flowing river and dense forest this is an experience unlike any other. Kosi Valley Retreat is situated midway from Almora to Kausani in Simkholi. Simkholi is situated a distance of 30 km from Almora and 18 km from Kausani. Kosi Valley Retreat is a great getaway if you want to enjoy nature, fresh air, a charming valley in Kumaon, good food and lots of fun activities. It's a small property, ideally located in a quiet, serene and prosperous valley. Nearby are quaint villages, picturesque hills, hiking trails, a rushing river, and the gifts of nature in abundance such as birds and flowers. The rooms in the main building are beautifully designed, with wrap-around balconies overlooking the forest and river. Tents are also available, though they would be a more casual option.

The company that owns Kosi Valley, Walk to the Himalayas, offers guests a wide array of activities, such as hiking, mountain biking, river and village treks, rock climbing, and more.

A beautiful stone building, a great location in a golden valley, and lots of outdoor activities is only half the story at Kosi Valley though: the staff are amazing; they are the real stars. They are genuinely warm and caring people who take note of every preference and remember, making sure you get all your specific needs met. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Plus, the food is delicious, made from fresh, local and wholesome ingredients.

I highly recommend Kosi Valley for a fun, peaceful and active getaway. It would be great for couples, friends or entire families.

I was looking at weekend place for myself when my friends suggested I should try kosi valley retreat near almora.since the place was referred to me by my friends I didn't hesitate to book it.I really wanted to get myself away from from my daily hustle bustle life. The drive from katgodham station is so scenic that it takes your breath away at least it makes you look forward for rest of your journey. As it is august you can feel the chill in the air. After 3 hours of breath taking journey you reach this beautiful home stay property (Kosi valley retreat) at kosi. The staff at the hotel are well trained and very helpful,I was given a welcome drink and was taken to my room which had a breath taking view of river kosi and the lush green mountains. At around 1.30 I was called for lunch at the dining hall, the lunch served was very simple yet tasty and delicious. I was told that the vegetables I ate for lunch are grown in their own organic garden. After my delicious lunch the manager asked me what would I want to do in the evening as I am an outdoor guy I requested him to take me for walk in the jungle. At around 4 pm I was served a cup of lemon tea and we started for our jungle walk. The trek is very beautiful as you pass small streams and you walk right through the water.Once you are inside the jungle you can feel your own heart beat as if you are part of the forest, after 45 minutes of walking and climbing we reached back at the hotel. The manager also took me down the banks of kosi river as it was not yet dark. The water in the river was gushing and clear.I also was shown Himalayan birds down the river bank by the manager. Its a paradise for a bird watcher after an hour or so we left for the hotel as it was getting dark. While our way towards the hotel I was told about my next day activity which was a village walk and a trip to kausani. In the night I was served with delicious non veg local cuisine. The next day morning after the village walk I went to kausani and was lucky to have a peek at mighty Himalayas. My 2 days were just gone with out realizing. I left early morning from kosi with a promise that I will be back again. The service and hospitality of kosi valley retreat is amazing.Must visit this place if you are in almora.

This place is way more beautiful than I expected. The hotel staff was really nice and comforting. Just 100 mtrs from the resort flows Kosi river which is an add on to this property. I want to thank walk to himalayas group for such a memorable experience. We were a mixed group of 15 people who visited this resort and everyone of us enjoyed our stay here.

Good homely resort. Very clean 4star amenities rooms though a little small. But good homely food, staff very courteous and highlight is the adventure activities they make you do. If its your first time like us you will not regret the experience and want more of it, but if you've done it before, you won't want to stop. Its bang on the Kosi river and though its mainly dried in may, but there are sections of it near the resort where they take you for the activities. There are things for Children as small as 6 and sr citizens too. Just being there in the quiet wilderness without the humdrum crowds is an experience in itself. Shivraj our activities coach, Kamal his helper and all rounder and all the staff, thank you. If u visit Nainital on the way to Corbet, this is a moneys worth detour.
