Khims are cottages located in a forest on a mountain slope few kms from Almora amidst raw nature... Pros 1) Gopalji the present owner is extremely cooperative and takes care of all booking, cooking and transfers with a smiling face. 2) We found their food very tasty too (Gopalji makes excellent pancakes) 3) The cottages have a good view of mountains (even Himalayas on a clear day). Sunrise is a delight to watch. Their rooftop restaurant has the best view 4) You can experience nature in its most rustic form as the cottages are in forest itself and nothing to disturb you. Absolute silence prevails. Those who love silence and nature, this is the place for them. Kesar devi temple is only 3km from Khims. 5) Pocket friendly .... Cons 1) Cottages are "very basic", we faced some plumbing issues and need to change our cottage 2) You may find insects inside cottages which is quite natural in that environment. You need to accept that. 3) There is a steep walk from main road which will be difficult for elderly and physically unfit to negotiate. 4) Avoid if you are a luxury traveller or expecting proper hotel like facilities. …
If you want to experience natural peace amidst birds, trees and mountains. This is the place for you. Especially if you go there during offseason such as during monsoon. There would hardly be any guests and you can enjoy calmness around the place. Hosts are totally non intrusive and the place is full value of money. If you are a couple opt for a cottage which comes with a kitchenette and attached toilet while rooms are decent home like comes with a separate toilet/bathroom and are huge bang for your buck. They have awesome restaurant and small shop inside the guest house to help your daily needs.
Its seldom to get to a place and feel right at home. I loved my little cottage from my bed I could see the sunrise over the mountains. Nice hot shower too. Dinner time is a social happening ..meeting other travellers and longtimers. Special mention for the library on Himalaya....could spend months even years browsing and reading. I will return.
Situated amongst the pine trees, khim's guest house welcomed us with a warm smile. You must try his ginger lemon tree. Very welcoming and a friendly host. Highly recommended! The view is remarkable- and in order to get here, one must trek a little. The cottages are available and the place is very popular.

Inspiring <3 A Beautiful Place with Beautiful People Calm & Peace in this Crazy World... Thank you Khim ! Thank you Gopal & Family Namaste !
We stayed at Khim guest house after discovering the place at airbnb. Our plan was to stay here for a day, however, the amazing views and hospitality convinced us to extend our stay by a day here. The cottages are basic but great for the price point. The owner, Gopal Ji, is a very welcoming host. While you are here, make sure you visit this hidden gem and enjoy the legendary pancakes and bread omelette made by Gopal Ji.
Very quiet and peaceful place, little away from the town with perfect natural settings. The cottages are a perfectly situated to get lost into nature. The sunrise and views of a wide range of peaks are breathtaking! The staff is very helpful and prompt in service. Both father and son-the owners are warm hearted and down to earth people!! The food also was healthy and tasty as well.
Spent peaceful time at Khims Guest House last week. Far away from Hustle and Bustle of city. Thanks to Gopal and Khim Singh Bisht for their hospitality....Nice place to relax your tired mind and body.......................................................................................................................................................................................
We loved calling our cottage at Khim's Guesthouse 'home' for two weeks. Khim is, without a doubt, one of the sweetest men you'll come across in India, as well as his son, Gopal, who runs his own establishment next-door. Our cottage was warm, secure, insulated and perfectly sized for two, and Khim provided us cooking equipment and firewood every night. The property enjoys incredible views across the valley and a section of the Himalayas, while its location is roughly halfway between scenic Kasar Devi and Almora, where we bought our fresh produce etc. Peaceful, scenic and very relaxing, we can't recommend this place enough and will certainly be back.
I stayed at the guest house from 8-11 July, 2016 and have nothing but praise for the staff and management. My 2 year old kid was also accompanying and they provided everything we required for him. I stayed at their new property viz. Gopal's Binsar Retreat. The rooms are good with all the basic amenities and Mr. Gopal helped us in getting around a lot. His suggestions about places to visit were worth and the food was excellent just like the home cooked food. Snacks like veg and paneer pakoras were delicious. The place is quiet & calm and one morning I happened to see a wild hare (rabbit) roaming around the compound. It is really a place to seek peace and rejuvenate.
