Starting from a thoughtful note and refreshments placed in the car from Jabalpur to the lodge (much needed for 4 masked travelers after a long day!) to the committed and attentive service in every aspect of the lodge, Samode doesn’t fail to disappoint. Priyam and Anshuman were very gracious hosts who made sure we were well looked after. Every safety and hygiene protocol was in place in the entire property and not once did we feel unsafe be it in the dining area or in the rooms. The management has put much thought and effort into sanitizing everything without being too intrusive. The rooms are grand and spacious and very tastefully done. Each meal in Samode was a culinary delight that induced a pleasant food coma!! Dinners were thoughtfully planned in a new setting every night with regional cuisines served in elegant thalis. The staff graciously reappear from nowhere to serve seconds in a perfectly timed manner. Service fit for royalty! The game drives with Anshuman were entertaining, to say the least. We had 2 wonderful tiger sightings in 6 drives. His knowledge of the park and beyond is immense. Ask him any question and he can answer in a flash without any reference, right from the flora and fauna to photography tips and to the workings of the forest. He has a knack for making even a quiet forest outing special. Priyam and Anshuman along with their team in Samode are committed to giving you a holistic experience be it in the lodge or in the game drives. I would recommend Samode for the discerning safari-goer and for the traveler looking for just a relaxing break. One can look forward to being treated like royalty.

We got married at Samode Palace in 2015 jan and hence when we came across their jungle lodge for our 5th wedding anniversary celebrations we didn't think twice before making the reservations. The place over all has a very warm and luxurious feel. There are small little things they do that make you feel special. It was extremely cold during our visit and starting a safari at 6.00 A.M was terrifying, they would place blanket overalls and hot water bags to keep us warm in the jeep. when one would come back from an evening safari they would place hot foot baths and keep the room warm with their heaters. Once they understood our food preference, the chef went beyond expectations to make it special for us. every dinner set up was mind blowing, and Mr. Jamuna made sure to comply with our every tiny request. Coming to safaris, Bandhavgarh has three zones, out of which we could do safaris only in two Tala and Khitauli. Both very different from each other and both about 45mins - 30 mins far from the lodge respectively. The first day was a warm up with no tiger sightings in two safaris but some amazing birds, deers and other animals sightings. Second day we were in luck and with our Naturalist Mr. Akshays amazing instincts we had our first tiger sighting for almost 15 mins. Its very rare to see Tigers behaviour which we were lucky enough to see. Akshay has amazing knowledge on how the jungle works and he was kind enough to share a lot with us too. We had deer alarm calls from all over the place and didn't know which direction to head in. Akshay to the best of his instinct took us on a roller coaster ride within the jungle, although we missed the tiger by a couple of minutes but that memory will remain with us forever. Our second Sighting was also just because of Akshays instinct, the tiger was resting among the bushes and was very difficult to spot, but we did. He also took us on a nature walk within the property which never a part of the deal. There are just a few shortcoming that we experienced with them, their reservation team and the lodge manager or team were not well coordinated. However, they managed to coverup for their misscommunications without much of fuss. The Jeep for safari was not comfortable enough for five guest, 1 naturist and 1 guide, having stayed at other luxury safari properties, we know for a matter of fact that they can do better in this case. We over all had a very comfortable stay with Samode and took back some beautiful memories.

This must have been one of the largest “cottages” that we have stayed in with a huge array of washing facilities! The views out are onto the local bush areas.
There is very much a colonial feel to the property, although surprisingly it is relatively recently built. Throughout there are some excellent old books, prints and collectibles. Good library/pool room and good shop. An inviting loung area with open fire.
There is a large swimming pool and a variety of spa treatments on offer – if you find the time to fit them in around the game drives!
The food was excellent with lovely eating areas, and the staff also were excellent.
The only downside was the 30minute plus drive to the reserve gate – and that is a lot of speed bumps. However, rarely enjoyed staying here.

The Lodge has only 12 very spacious villas, hence there never will be many people, the staff treats everybody like kings (if they behave like kings). It's very expensive that also select the type of visitor you encounter. Many details make your stay extremely pleasureful. You pick your time when to eat, drink or relax. You drop your laundry, its picked and returned clean. They even warm your beds as it gets pretty cold in winter (bundle up and protect your face as you're driving in open jeep). We came for the tigers and we saw them, however it is not an African safari, you'll drive a lot and the tiger encounters are very short, hence impressive. We drove a total of 22 hours and saw two tigers for about 5 very memorable minutes.

We had superb accommodation with upscale facilities and functionality (except for WiFi only being in the common central area £

Dining was excellent too with a quality, varied menu.

Akshai was an outstanding naturalist guide who had well developed intuition of where to go in the Park to spot the best wildlife. We managed numerous tiger encounters several of which lasted quite a while. And he knew the birds well

Yudu, the interim manager was charming and efficient in assisting with changing travel plans

It was a shame to see guest numbers down because of Coronavirus related cancellations.

This place is at the top end of Excellent establishments

We had an outstanding stay at Samode.

The lodge is beautiful and on par with the best we have seen in Africa. Very well designed accommodation in stand alone cottages with spacious living rooms, cozy bedrooms and show-stopping bathrooms. And a large and well decorated lounge for hanging out and accessing the internet.

The service was sublime. There is literally nothing I can fault. Every staff member went above and beyond to make our stay special. We loved the different dinner venues each night (all beautifully decorated and memorable). And a special mention to the outstanding chef who catered to our varied food preferences and produced multiple delicious dishes for us to sample at every meal.

Akshay, our naturalist, was great. We saw 4 tigers in 4 drives with him including one exceptional sighting where we were the only jeep in the park who got to see the tiger.

The only thing we wanted for was a wifi connection in our cottage, but I believe that’s not possible because of the remote location.

This will be the benchmark against which I’ll judge my future safari holidays.

Visiting Samode has become something akin to an annual (and sometimes biannual tradition) for our family. There are several things about the experience such as the warm hospitality, bespoke service, excellent naturalists, and the handwritten notes that greet you before bedtime which keep drawing us back. Apart from the lodge itself, the highlights of our visits are the safaris under the guidance of the supremely talented naturalists. Each game drive is a thrilling experience where there’s more excitement waiting around every corner. At this point, I am convinced that Anshuman (our naturalist) has a better understanding of each tiger’s weekly schedule than the tigers themselves do.

The food, especially the various thalis and barbeque we had for dinners were delectable. The lodge, for its part, offers a unique ambience that is a beautiful blend of local culture and wildlife, further garnished by every creature comfort one can imagine. Another impressive aspect of the lodge: throughout our most recent stay, we were the only four guests, however, everything was completely operational including the spa and elaborate dinner spreads in different settings each night. This conveys volumes about the extent to which the team is willing to go to ensure that every guest is offered an outstanding experience during their stay. A big thank you to Anshuman, Priyam, Abhimanyu, the chefs Shafat, Shiv, and Sunil, Jamuna, and the rest of the team at Samode! We will certainly be back for more.

I was at Samode Safari Lodge from February 27, 2022 to March 4, 2022 and it was the best wilderness break I have had thus far. The wonderful experience was a result of the excellent attitude of all at the Lodge coupled with the very aesthetic, luxurious and excellently appointed Safari Lodge.

Anshuman and Priyam work in the background and ensure everything works to perfection and I had a flawless experience for this reason. Right from the time I picked up the phone to speak to Anshuman about the distribution of my Safari drives in the various zones, I could sense a very cultivated and responsible approach from all at Samode.

The Lodge is in the buffer zone and almost adjacent to one of the core zones of the park. The lounge and dining areas of the Lodge are a treat for the senses, reflecting an old world charm and the perfect atmosphere for a Safari Lodge. Shiv and Sunil, the Chefs prepared delectable fare each and every time, from lovely continental lunches to sumptuous dinners. The venue for dinner changes every evening and I must compliment Samode for arranging a pool side dinner for me, even though the third wave of the pandemic just having abated, the Lodge was not experiencing the rush it does in the normal times. Jamuna deserves a special mention for his excellent service at all hours, especially in the evenings. His unobtrusive and yet extremely prompt response to the slightest gesture was heart-warming,

The Villas are exemplary in their planning and underplayed beauty. Extremely spacious and comfortable, they provided the much needed rest after spending practically the whole day in the forest. One would not want to change anything at all in the way the Lodge has been made and works.

Abhimanyu (Gucci) was my naturalist for all my drives and even before and after the drives there was no need to look beyond him no matter what the requirement. I cannot recall seeing such zeal, commitment and motivation in the past many years. He is excellent regarding all aspects of the Safari drives, the driving, the knowledge of the forest, gut instincts, connections with the others driving in the forest and the guides etc. the result of all this was that I ended up seeing ten different tigers during my stay. Each sighting was an incomparable delight and the fact that Abhimanyu was always at the right place at the right time played a major role in the success with the sightings. No praise can be high enough for Abhimanyu’s contribution in making my trip such a great experience. It was my second visit to Bandhavgarh- I came back in good measure because I had missed seeing Samode the last time, and it proved to be a great instinctive decision.

Bandhavgarh and Samode Safari Lodge have become almost synonymous for me after this trip.

The Samode Safari is truly a luxury lodge in a national park. The attention to detail and care for their guests is evident from the very first moment you step foot on the property. We were greeted by many members of the staff that walked us through a map of the grounds, the national park, and our safari schedule. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, with a stunning pool, lovely porch deck, and each room as its own private lodge. The Dinners were curated by the staff with a surprise beautiful location, full bar and delicious food. All of the food at the lodge was impeccable- from the western style lunch to the traditional Indian dinner, everything the chef made was amazing. Our guide, Dave, was so personable and knowledgeable. He made the safari experience casual and fun and we learned so much along the way. PLUS we saw a tiger up close on our safari :).

We were a large group and stayed here for 3 nights. The lodge represents everything that one would want from a luxurious stay. The rooms were very spacious and had all the amenities one would expect in a luxury experiential hotel such as this. The best part about the lodge is their team, lead by Anshuman and Priyam. Every member of their team from Akshay to Jamuna went over and beyond to ensure that everyone was well taken care of. Would highly recommend staying here when in Bandhavgarh.

I would say that the heat is dry. You'll need lots of sunscreen & a sunhat at the least to protect yourself. The safaris here start in the noon but due to the heat we would leave at 4PM as the tigers too would find it hot during the odd noon hours making the safari time futile. They would step out only in the evening hours to drink water & that is when you can catch a glimpse of them.
