#1 of 21 hotels in Bandhavgarh National Park
2020 Travellers' Choice Best of the Best
The lodge is environmentally sensitive, harmonious with the natural features of the site and accentuates natural daylight to all facilities. Local knowledge and art has been incorporated in the development and the lodge has been constructed using local manpower. The lodge is rustic yet deluxe, finished with fine cotton and handcrafted furniture. The lodge is set in a forested estate of 32 acres over looking sal forested hills on both sides. Bandhavgarh was established in 1968 as a National Park, and is spread over an area of 448 sq. kms. This national park was declared as a tiger reserve under Project Tiger in the year 1993. It is predominantly covered with vegetation like SAL, SALI, DHOBIN and has vast stretches of grasslands spread over 32 hills, the region though smaller than other wildlife parks has one of the highest density of tigers in the world.

Feedback from our recent 2N/3D trip to Pugdundee Safaris Kings Lodge which was made in early Feb'21. Reaching the resort was fairly simple, provided you catch the sign boards of Pugdundee Safaris. These are visible from Tala gate onwards. Please note that only BSNL network words seamlessly and you may loose GPS signal of other providers 5-10 kms before the place. Once there, we were given a warm welcome from the team and were led to the lounge where the General Manager Mr. Amit Mukherjee gave us an overview of the place and briefed us about what to expect. While this happened, refreshing welcome drink and moist face tissues were provided which was indeed much needed. Before we entered the premises, we were checked for temperature and hands were sanitized. So the check-in was quick and smooth. [Check-in/Check-out : 5/5]. Soon after, as it was already past the lunch time, we were suggested to have lunch in their small but cozy and well laid out dining room. The plan was all inclusive (AP) therefore no hassle of choosing and ordering. As soon as you settle, the efficient team starts serving you a 2 or 3 course meal (depending on lunch/dinner). The food to scrumptious to say the least. All the dishes where well prepared and can easily compete with the kitchens of any 5 star kitchen of urban India. Specially their breads (Tandoori Rotis & Naans) were one of the best that you can get in any Hotel/Resort across India. Kudos to their entire Kitchen staff for their skills, consistency and attention to details. All the meals for next 3 days were delicious, catered to the taste of adults as well as children, had good variety within same cuisines and offered a good range of cuisines and were served hot and fresh by their polite and eager staff. We were even given an elaborate spread for breakfast during our morning Safari and mid you that we started at ~ 5AM. [Food Taste: 5/5, Presentation: 5/5, Dining Service: 5/5, Safari Breakfast: 4/5, Bar: 5/5] We then proceeded towards our cottages. We chose a couple of regular cottages near reception area (due to requirements of families with toddlers) and one stilt cottage which was 50-60 mts. towards into the bamboo forest. I would like to thank Mr. Mukherjee here as he allowed us to choose cottages of our choice. Obviously, this was possible due to low occupancy, but still he went out of way to made sure that we got what we wanted. The rooms wore a rustic look but were quite modern in facilities with pretty much everything that you would expect in a hotel room at this price point. Only thing lacking was a large mirror in the room (it only had a small vanity mirror and a bathroom mirror), a large table. The only table the room had, was supposed to be used as a dressing, work, and pantry table all. There was a coffee table separately as well but it couldn't be used for any other purposes mentioned above. [Room: 4/5, Common Areas: 4/5, Safari Experience: 5/5] The location of property is quite beautiful with an intense nature trail. Events like bonfire, and outdoor dinner were organized by the team. The bar has options for all the tastes, from Single Malts to beers. During safaris, we were also given woolen blankets which were of great help even when we were covered with tons of woolens. And this is when we booked safaris on our own and not through the lodge. A very kind gesture from the team indeed! Special mention of the GM Mr. Amit Mukherjee. He was always on top of proceedings and ensured that we had a pleasant experience everywhere. I had some very interesting conversations with him and he was always eager to help and accommodate our requests. Overall, a MUST VISIT PLACE for its people, food, room, location and experience!

We stayed at Kings Lodge for 4 nights in mid-Jan. Its a fantastic property with even better service. We also got lucky since we were the only ones staying there for 2 out of the 4 days so we had the place to ourselves effectively. Guest service was simply outstanding. The property manager, Mr. Mohan, was in touch with us pre-arrival and made sure hot dinner was served to us even though we arrived super late at night after a 17 hour journey to get to Bandhavgarh. The food was excellent throughout our stay, the breakfast, lunch and dinner spreads were extensive and sufficient. The attention to detail to make a guest's stay comfortable was noteworthy. Like leaving hot water bags inside the blankets on the bed as part of the evening turn down service so that a pre-warmed bed greeted you when you returned after a day of back breaking safaris. The staff went above and beyond their call of duty to make our stay memorable. On one of the nights they organised, of their own initiative, a nice and cosy couples bush dinner for us at an outdoor gazebo, with candles and lights and bon fires - the works. There is a machchan for bird watching in the property. However, it wasn't of much practical use since it is surrounded by tall trees close by that block the view. Even so we saw a grey hornbill on one of the evenings there. There is also a small pugdundee through some pastures towards the back of the property if you wish to take a leisurely stroll in the midst of nature. Mobile connectivity is spotty in the property, as in most of Tala, unless you have a BSNL connection. The wifi at King's Lodge was sufficient for us though the speeds went to a crawl when other large groups checked-in on the last two days of our stay there. Note that there is no mini-bar or TV in the cottages. I would unstintingly recommend a stay at King's Lodge if you are visiting Bandhavgarh.

We stayed here with a group for 4 nights. The cottages are amazing , in a world of their own , surrounded by trees , spacious and huge , very comfortable washrooms. The food was excellent always and the service provided was top notch. All the staff is super helpful and they even arranged a mobile charger for me as I had forgotten to bring it. The ambience , architecture of the entire property is really soothing. The nature walks to wonderfully organized BBQ dinners and a lovely bush dinner setup in the middle of jungle are some of the most fantastic experiences I have ever had. They organise all safari in a very efficient way and ensure you have a great time irrespective of sightings. Lovely desserts as well.

Aptly named King’s lodge, it makes you feel like a King. In these COVID times not once did we feel insecure. The property is spotlessly clean and the staff take appropriate measures to keep themselves and the guests safe. The food is great considering the area is so remote. Mr Amit Mukherjee, the manager personally supervised and takes care of all needs that the guests may have. The naturalists Mayuresh and Mohan gave us great slide shows to explain the fauna and flora of the region. The icing on the cake was when Mr. Mukherjee had a farewell breakfast served to us in his beautiful vegetable garden. Highly recommended

So many wonderful memories of this lovely place. When we arrived we were warmly greeted and given a detailed briefing of what to expect and we met Aniche, our guide for our stay. It was great to have him with us on all four drives as we were able to get to know him. He was an excellent guide who spotted so many different birds and shared his knowledge and enthusiasum with us. The site was well maintained and our room was a good size and comfortable. The small pool was a welcome treat after a drive. The food was great and plentiful we did not know when the main course would stop coming ! Also we had lovely snacks with our drinks while watching the pre dinner presentations. Breakfast served on the bonnet of the jeep in the park was delicious and very welcome. All the lodge staff were friendly and helpful. They shared a pride in the site and eager to make make sure we enjoyed our stay. They also enjoyed showing us round the vegetable plot . Our only regret was not seeing a proper tiger just a leg and tummy but that's nature and it means we will have to return again something we definitely look forward to.
