A Nature Retreat in a lush hill forest setting overlooking a dramatic rural landscape. At Dunagiri, you are completely in harmony with nature - distances seem infinite and heaven close. Silence speaks in a thousand tongues here - all calm, joyous and serene. Very few places are left on our planet where we can enjoy tourism experiences in such pristine, tranquil and calm environment amidst ancient forests. A spot of stunning natural splendor, being one with nature is easy to do at Dunagiri Nature Retreat. Its greatness lies not merely in its fascinating history and captivating beauty, it is rather the peaceful and spiritual atmosphere of this place that strikes the mind and brings peace to the soul. Known by various names such as Drongiri, Dronagiri and Doonagiri - a visit to Dunagiri is a holiday like no other; it is a journey into the innermost recesses of the soul, a re-discovery of the essence of being. Go for nature walks, treks in hills and wilderness, visit Cave of Mahavatar Babaji of Kriya Yoga mentioned in An Autobiography of a Yogi.
This is a place you should go to if you literally want to 'get away from it all'.....no TV, virtually no internet, erratic cell phone coverage, no Malls or markets, no town...yes it is in the middle of nowhere! Nor is it some fancy shmancy resort (note it's called Retreat, not a Resort) --it's pretty basic. Yes you have your decent beds and linen etc but if you come in the monsoon you may not be able to get a change of towels and sheets daily because there's no sunshine to dry the clothes and there certainly aren't any dryers or washing machines, in fact electricity supply is, well, not bad, but it's there when it's there, that's all you'll get. The rooms are nice enough, mostly old village houses converted into rooms, some have better views, the one I stayed in had windows in…

Dunagiri is a special place indeed. The experience will stay in my heart forever. It really is a trip of a lifetime and far surpassed my expectations in every way. I hope and pray I'll be able to return one day! Coming from the UK & after a long trip the welcoming hospitality we received was amazing. Piyush and Katy are simply beautiful people with warm, open hearts who care so much for the local area what they are doing here is amazing! Please keep doing it! Giving back to the local village via employment and giving us peace and serenity in the process... it's a small utopia in India. The retreat operates as a sustainable sharing economy which works on many levels! Dunagiri is stunning with the most serene views, flowers, birds & butterflies everywhere, mother nature at her…

Retreat is a beautiful word when applied to Dunagiri. It is a place where you are nourished with beautiful food, carefully and lovingly prepared, stunning scenery, and a level of hospitality beyond anything I have ever experienced. My senses were reeling with joy. I feel humbled and amazed by my stay. I truly cannot fully express how wonderful it was. I went on a yoga holiday with Yoga Kula Leeds and I can only say that it was totally brilliant.

Went to Dunagiri Retreat as part of an organised Yoga retreat. Spent ten days here and could have stayed longer! Tranquil setting, delicious organic food and a wonderful host, Piyush. I stayed in a room at the top with an amazing view of the mountains and sunrise. Each day could be spent hiking, visiting temples, markets or simply staying amongst the beautiful cosmos in the peaceful silence of the retreat. Piyush puts money back into the community and deeply cares about the local people and the area. I don't usually go back somewhere twice, with the idea to experience somewhere new, but this place is an exception. Thank you Piyush, Katy and all of the staff for making it a wonderful time and memory!

Dunagiri Retreat is without a doubt one of the most beautiful places I've ever been to. As a group of 12 we travelled from Yoga Kula Leeds, UK and held our Yoga retreat there. As one of the organisers I had to keep pinching myself.. I knew it was going to be good, as Dunagiri had come highly recommended to me, but I didn't realise it would be as absolutely beautiful in every way as it was. Piyush has created an visionary retreat for people to experience India -from the inside. His thoughtfulness and care for every aspect of our retreat was incredible and much appreciated. Everyone at Dunagiri has made our trip so special, our experience will remain one of happiest times of my life because of the people we met.. the delicious, fresh food that we ate - thanks to Panditji! The…

Dunagirir Retreat is an Eco yoga retreat, where heaven meets earth. We trek to cave of Mahaavtar Baba Ji. Words are but poor vehicle of thoughts, to describe the nature. Sun rise, Sunset everything was indescribable but you can only feel when you will be there, Be with your best friend - The Nature ! My sincere thanks to our host Piyush Ji, who is a real gem.

The three of us (an Indian, American and Frenchman) came here to experience calmness and nature. The entire site and experience is so 'natural' that it transports you to another world. Our host Piyush was (is) par excellence and really looks after you. Time stands still while one can be a part of nature, be it the fruit trees, fresh organic produce to be had each day, yoga, treks and understanding nature and our true relationship with it. Always looking forward to coming back.

I had the pleasure of staying at Dunagiri Retreat recently with several of my childhood friends for a reunion. It was an excellent experience - starting with very warm and welcoming hospitality of the owner, Piyush, along with his staff. They made us feel like we were visiting family and were their personal guests. Facility itself is in a beautiful area surrounded by majestic mountains. It is set up to provide optimal privacy to guests with an excellent choice of rooms ranging from completely separate cottages to a room in the main lodge. All rooms offer a great view of surrounding forested hills. Staff prepared fresh, vegetarian meals which were really excellent. They even arranged a special cake for us to celebrate our reunion. Piyush accompanied us on nearby hikes to…

I had been travelling in kamoun and Garhwal a lot but this place is out of the world!.It is not only beautiful but has some spiritual power.Last week I visited this place with my friends ..Piyush, the owner, told me that first day you might not like the place as much but as you will stay you will start falling in love with it and that was exactly what happened. I got so enthralled with this place that now when I look back and think, I wonder why we keep on running for material pleasures which can only give us temporary satisfaction. Real happiness eludes us .I came back relaxed and rejuvenated .Dunagiri I love you! Some useful suggestions- Trekking to nearby places is a must, stay here minimum for three or four nights.. Lots of wildlife, no t.v, no phones, no newspaper…
