Flowers ,joyful atmosphere and above all one of the Highly blessed Jhula Devi temple just a few minutes walk. And a highly blessed Sai Baba Temple in the premise. What to say more.Simply outstanding.

This was long before 2022 but the drop down gave me no earlier option. It was 1977 and I was a Fulbright Scholar based in Delhi. My Mom came out to visit and I splurged and we rented a car and driver and headed up to the hills (among other places). We stayed at the West View for 3 nights. Unforgettable. Our rooms were quiet and comfortable. It was February and cold but every morning bed tea was brought and the hot water boiler was always functioning by the time we got up to take our showers. The gardens were peaceful. On our second day we asked if we could have lunch in the garden rather than the dining room. The staff set up a perfect table in the garden and, as for every meal, the Manager (whose name I forget after all these years) would type up the menu. Mom and I took in the incredible views of the Himalayas nearby and even managed to get into the Cantonment of the Kumaon Regiment (whose headquarters are nearby). I'm not sure who they thought we were, but we received snappy salutes as we entered, went to the headquarters building and took photos with the guards on duty. Mom is many years gone but if I could take a sentimental journey back in time, I'd love for my wife and daughter to see Rani Khet and the West View.

Room Tip: Adjust your mind - this was a time capsule in 1978 and I'm sure it's still is! That's a good think!

At the recommendation of good friends, we stayed at the West View Hotel for 5 nights towards the end of May, 2023. We had a wonderful experience and recommend the hotel to everyone. It is truly a gem, ideal to relax and soak in the serenity and beauty of kumaon hills. The hotel is built around a heritage property, sprawling across 9 acres, surrounded by pine trees all around and ringed by the himalayan mountains further afield. The property reflects the quiet grace, elegance and beauty of the owner. It is well located, on the road from Ranikhet to the Chaubatia orchard, and just a 10 minute walk to the jhula devi temple. The rooms are spacious and elegant and comfortable, without being ostentatious. The best part of the hotel is just the quietness that allows you to appreciate the serene surroundings and the beauty all around you, from virtually anywhere on the property. Lush greenery, vibrantly colored flowers, the sounds of the forest, and the chirpiness of all kinds of birds from early on in the mornings. The staff of the hotel, managed ably by the manager, Mr. Devendra Singh Tanwal and Mr. Iswar Singh Bisht are efficient and friendly and responed quickly to any requests that we had (for example in fixing a glitch in our TV reception late at night). They were generous with their suggestions for sightseeing, including finding a restaurant that serves excellent local kumaoni cuisine! The food served at the hotel was good, with sufficient variety. The hotel serves a sumptuous breakfast, including north Indian and south Indian cuisine (apart from the cornflakes and eggs and toast). We were surprised especially with their dosais and coconut chutney and the vermicelli upma. The room service was quick. For us, the iceing on the cake was the beautiful Chotu, the handsome, energetic yet friendly dog on the property. His warmth and friendliness to everyone was a pleasure to behold. We miss him already. Our one suggestion would be to include at least one English news channel on your TV.

The service at this hotel is very bad. The wifi doesn’t work. The food is average and very costly. The rooms are dingy, no sunlight. Bed is very uncomfortable. They claimed at the time of booking that the hotel is pet friendly. But, this hotel is not pet friendly. Just that the location is very good.

A beautiful hotel with incomparable staff. February 2023 A beautiful stay with incomparable service from wonderful people During our travels in India, we stayed at many luxurious hotels. This one is quaint. It is so different from modern luxury hotels. It is located in a very sweet surroundings of trees and mountain vistas. The room was cozy. The food was excellent. I want to compliment the people who cared for me. Mr. Prem saw to my almost every need. One morning it was raining. And for breakfast one has to let them know when you’re coming to breakfast and what you would like ahead of time. One rainy morning, it was 8 AM my breakfast time, I opened my door And Mr. Prem came out of another door with an umbrella to walk me to the restaurant. Then another time he noticed that I was having trouble with the key in the lock of my door. Immediately checked the lock and key and noticed that it needed oil. He oiled the lock and key and everything worked wonderfully after that. Another day I needed some bottled water in my room, I called. I hung up the phone. That I went over to my front door and he was coming directly up with the bottled water. I also had some trouble with my television. This is not unusual because , too many remotes and too many buttons do confuse me. Mr. Prem kindly showed me which button to push to make the television work. All of the people who work there are helpful and accommodating. My thanks to all: Mr. Naveen, Mr. Partap, Mr. Prakash, and Mr. Sachin. You are made my trip restful and comfortable. I appreciate all of your valuable help. Much gratitude as well to Mr. Devendra Singh Tanwal, manager. The service in the restaurant is impeccable. I would like to add that I didn’t need a taxi to do some errands in the town. A taxi was arranged. The taxi driver was helpful. This is not exactly part of the hotel, but just to know that if one does need a taxi, one is available. And hopefully you’ll get the same driver I had who was Helpful at several of the stops. I had to make in guiding me. He was also very patient while waiting for me. And this taxi driver was arranged by the hotel for me. The people who work in the restaurant are attentive and available for assistance. I am grateful for this time of a peaceful stay in this beautiful environment among the kind, caring, and attentive people who work at this hotel. Sent from my iPhone

We visited in the 1st week of June22. At the outset, its worth mentioning that we had been to this hotel in 2009, when it was really good, but it has deteriorated since then mainly because the owner seems to be complacent since the location of the hotel is good and they are not spending on the upkeep. Overall stay was good, but when we arrived, we were shocked to see the room that was given to us for my parents who are senior citizens. It was on the ground floor in the front side of the hotel next to the kitchen, it was like a room where drivers and caretakers would live, dirty carpet, dirty looking bed and sofas, just a horrible room overall. We complained to the manager and he gave us a better room on the ground floor on the other side after which the stay was good. Still their carpets, etc are very old and not well maintained. The good things: 1. Food and snacks are good 2. Staff have been there since long and are hospitable 3. Location is quite good for local walks, visit to the devi temple, kumaon regimental center craft shop, etc 4. The bathrooms in most rooms are big and clean. Geysers work as expected which is important in the hills. Not good: 1. For breakfast, i noticed the milk was made using milk powder, it was shocking to know that everyone was unknowingly having milk that was not freshly sourced 2. The Beds are extremely uncomfortable, as they sink and you are liable to get a back ache and not great breathing when sleeping. Bed is too soft, not good. 3. The Dining room are, tables, table cloth and decor is just awful and probably 30 years old. 4. The owner although a good lady I'm sure, but doesn't seem to care about the condition of the hotel and how much guests are paying to be in that kind of decor and poor upkeep.

We had booked this hotel for two nights from 26 to 27 April 2022 but had to shorten our trip to one night only. The hotel is located in an Old Grant Bungalow in the Army Cantonment which is in a very poor state of maintenance. There is NOT a single window in the room. The wiring was loose and there was only charging point for the mobile located in one corner of the room, far away from the bed. The state of ambient lighting in the room is very abysmal, To sum it up, the amenities in the room are very poor. The only good point is the proximity of the hotel to the Cantt historical Walk Road. The standard of food was satisfactory.

Dear Mr Anil Joshi Ji Unfortunate that you checked out after one day. About 4 rooms have the issue that you have mentioned. Perhaps you had one of the rooms. April-June is peak time when the hotel remains full. We are in the process of rectifying these issues even in these rooms. Thanks for your feedback

Great location of the hotel. Amazing and spacious rooms. Huge and well laid out property with spectacular view of the setting sun. Very polite and helpful staff (special mention for Chandan, Prakash and Kailash). Food is very very tasty and you would leave with extra Kgs of weight after your stay :) . The owner (Mrs. Rekhi) is very polite and good to talk to. It was a dream holiday for us. Thank you West View Hotel :)
