We visited in late November as we learnt that the views of the mountain peaks are fabulous from this location. We did not stay. This is a heritage property, over a 100 years old. The rooms are large with heritage ambience and decor. They have large collection of old photographs and mountain views. The property is located in the woods. A must visit for those looking for a quiet stay in the Ranikhet mountains.

We have been staying in Holm Farm Heritage since 2008 and have not stayed anywhere else in Ranikhet. Away from the hustle bustle, nestled in a quite hilly forest, the resort is what one needs to rejuvenate. The food is delectable at its best. The surrounding tennis court is most ideal for outdoors. The resort authorities has been preserving its colonial style architecture and interiors with much passion. We hope it stays this way.

Take a deep breath....wow, mesmerising, what a beauty in this season, calm and cool place, these days no rush of tourists, neither cold nor hot, cloudy most of the time, some times showers so you could imagine the beauty at the height of 1869. Meter from the sea level. Yes...these days there is chance of land slide but how could one miss the scene due to such a silly things....

The farm is at a sensational site. Excellent views and a lovely garden which is clearly a battle to maintain.

Two young men dressed in grubby tracksuits pants and tee-shirts helped us to carry our bags from the car. They seemed a little confused.

We were met by a Mr. Jeevan, the manager, who was splendidly attired in an old track suit with curry stains. He was hospitality itself when he showed us the three rooms on offer. These were in a building adjacent to the main house.

We gratefully accepted an offer of tea and found that the owner's family had precedence at the main house verandah table and we took out tea on the charpoy beside our room. We shortly left to see the town.

We returned later and found that the bathroom needed cleaning, which I did myself as it clearly had not been touched for at least two months. Only took fifteen minutes. The housekeeping manager supplied a brush and cleaning gel. The floor of the room was dirty to the extent that it was obvious it had not been cleaned for something like a year. I tried to clean a patch about three inches square. The dirt completely clogged a handful of tissue in a few seconds. Truly filthy. The walls had several rusty trickle marks from holes in the roof and the monsoon rains. Did not bother us as the weather was fine.

Dinner was served in the main house dining room. The dining room is a fascinating shrine to the memory of M. M. Upadhayay, a Freedom Fighter. The cook is skilled and prepared us a tasty dinner.

That evening my wife tried to watch television. Despite plentiful attention from the housekeeping staff the subscription could not be revived. No great loss. Later, when the lights were put out, I was amazed to find that after a thirty second delay the ceiling light would magically re-light itself. It seemed immune to the command of the wall switch. I removed the bulb and had a good night's sleep.

For Breakfast we were given excellent dahi and indifferent paratha with an excellent view.

All in all the property is testimony to the amazing durability of the archictects of 1905. Essentially no maintenance has been done since that time. It could be one of the greatest tourism properties in India. It desperately needs a thorough cleaning.

Had travelled with family in October first week and stayed in Suite Edward. Its a heritage property and altogether a different experience. You got to see it to feel it. To us this was one of the best ever stays, may be the best one. Felt better than a 5 star experience. They also have recently built log huts, but those are normal. Try book suite Edward or Suite Elizabeth if available, its pricey but worth the experience. Also the food available is priced quite economical. Dont go for buffet or dont take room with breakfast and/or dinner. Order A-la-carte and you will be able to save money. Food is simple and tastes good. They claim it organic. Would probably be.

We spend one night in this Boutique Resort. The place was constructed in 1830 and has been preserved in similar fashion. following are the Positives and Negatives as per my experience.
Positives:
1) Lot of history, and well preserved.
2) Amazing view of Himalaya, unfortunately during my stay it was cloudy.
3) Great Food, nice freshly prepared food as per your requirement.
4) Friendly staff, who are eager to help you, assist you and share the rich history of the place.
5) WiFi enabled

Negatives:
1) Not kids friendly place, as the location is on steep hill and there are no sufficient safety measure for kids. No entertainment for for kids except for sea-saw & slide.
2) Feels away & Isolated, i know this can be a positive point for some people as well.
3) place can be updated with new amenities to provide more comfort for travelers, like better quality blankets, heaters, etc.

overall a great experience, but missed on the view of Himalaya.

Avoid staying in this hotel ! This is not a boutique hotel and spa - this is a construction site. Carpenters working from morning till evening, and no one thinks about the visitors like me who is here for 21 days Panchacarma !!! I'm in this place for 12 days and still have not a single day was calm and quiet. Here is a great views, fresh air and a horrible disgusting attitude to guests.

I reached there last night expecting a Boutique Hotel experience, but was sorely disappointed by its depleted condition.
Close your eyes to mismatched plastic cheap chairs and curtains, etc.. Which do not match with the Hotels history.

The place, surely needs a complete overhaul, time for the Government to take a call to collaborate to bring Heritage properties with funding and relaxed conditions of renovating Heritage Hotels located in Defense lands to help Hotels like Holm Farm to bring them at par with other international heritage properties.

The hotel has put up some temporary wooden tents, on its vast property which have poor quality beds and a very basic bathroom. The TV in the room is of 1990, your eyes strain.
The reception sleeps by 11.30pm, the whole property goes dark as they switch of the lights. I was living in the wooden tent and had to reach the place in the dark, navigating through the greens supported by mobiles screen light. FOOD is just basic, no elaborate breakfast.

Owned by an interesting owner Himanshu with a family history, but looks like there is not enough revenue coming in as tourists don't come in hordes as they earlier would to Ranikhet, so its a Dying story to avoid.

I went to this destination first time in dec2014. It is really a silent and peaceful place for those who want to stay away from crowd and near to nature (forest+hill) specially recommended for couples who can explore the hills and forest. It is a British time heritage property. I like to stay in huts.
Food is available at reasonable price and of good quality but need to order before to get is ready.
Ranikhet is almost 3 km down from this point. You can view all over hills and surroundings from its top.

One has to go and see this destination.

One Of The Finest Properties In Ranikhet, Set Amidst 13 Acres Of Virgin, Pine Filled Forest. Even The Serpentine Jungle Road Leading To The Property, Gives You The Adventurer's Joy. But Your Joy Gets Somewhat Marred And Dented When You See That The Electrical Points In The Rooms Are Either Not Properly Placed Or Repaired, Specially The Location Of The Switches For The Electrical Kettle And The Geysers. The Pressure Of The Water Supply To The Bathrooms Is Not Sufficient To Give You The Joy Of Refreshing Bath Under The Shower. But The Rooms Are Large And The Beddings Clean. On The Food Front There Is Nothing To Delight You. The Run Of The Mill Food Is Served. There Is No Chef To Prepare Speciality Items. Lack Of A Strict Estate Manager Is Quite Evident. There Is No Cross Ventilation, As Far As Rooms Are Concerned. Cost Cutting On The Part Of The Management Is Quite Evident. There Is A Lot Of Potential To Make Both The Guests And The Owners Happy If Small But Important Changes Are Made.
