Lovely last minute stay in the Olivia room. I stayed at no64 a number of years ago and at last minute (a few days before) I was luckily able to book a room as I needed a halfway point to my destination the following day. Check in was very quick and simple with the friendly landlord showing me to the room. The bathroom was beautiful, it looked brand new and the tiling was exquisite! The bed was extremely comfortable. Beautifully decorated as I remembered. There is some noise from the high street outside but there are shutters and curtains provided to help block it out and it did not disturb me getting to sleep. I also see previous complaints about a green fire safety light in the room which there is but again, this did not prevent me getting to sleep and I actually found it helpful so that it wasn’t pitch black trying to find the toilet in the middle of the night! Good quality toiletries and biscuits provided. I had to leave early in the morning and dropping my keys was simple. Would recommend - great location, friendly and knowledgeable landlord, great atmosphere in the pub downstairs.

thank you for your fabulous review. I am currently refurbishing the hotel and have started with the entrance hall and stairs which looks really good. I will then continue on and do one room at a time.

More tired than it looks in the photos. Rooms hot and can’t open windows. No parking. Was locked out when returning from a meal out at 10.20pm! Room too bright due to fire security light in room. Also very expensive for what it is. There are better and cheaper places to stay… on the positive it’s in west Malling and it’s a pub with rooms so if that’s what you’re looking for and you can put up with the above then go for it.

We are really disappointed to read your review. The bar and courtyard has just been completely refurbished and the rooms are painted and things replaced every year. Unfortunately, we do not have parking on site because we are in the middle of West Malling High Street. but we are always suggesting places near by to park. When you check in you are given the code to the back door with a telephone number on so no one should every get locked out. The fire security light in the room has to stay and we were ordered to put it there by fire and security so unfortunately there is nothing we can do about it and i feel sure we are not the only hotel that has to have them.i am the new owner of the bar/hotel and i am trying to build up the trade and we aim to please...

We love West Malling and was having an evening out with friends and wanted a little night away so we stayed at the joiners. Staff were so friendly and welcoming. The room was small but all you needed for a cheeky night away. Bed was comfy. Only downside (we didn’t mind so much) was that our room was facing the high street and when getting ready we could see people enjoying a drink below out the front so we kept the curtains closed, and it was a warm afternoon so only thing I’d suggest is some blinds otherwise an enjoyable night.

Recently changed management the new landlord and his staff are friendly and welcoming. There have been many improvements made already internally and externally. We love to sit by the fire and let the time pass. We have also tried various dishes on the menu which are always good portions and fresh.

Stayed at this hotel for one night with my husband and toddler as we were attending a family celebration in the area. We stayed in the Evangeline room which was decorated lovely, it had a trundle bed that pulled out for our toddler so no uncomfortable sharing the bed with a wiggling child that night. There were some renovation works going on in the yard which were a tad unsightly but this did not affect us as we could use the other entrance to the hotel through the bar and it was only going on during the day time. It seems that the establishment has now been taken over by a gentleman and they are in the process of renovating the pub and yard area . We only had a few drinks in the bar before we headed out , the back bar was quite busy and it seemed that it was where the locals clientele hanged out so we found a table in the front where we could tuck our toddler away. The staff were friendly enough, it’s a shepherd neame pub so beer was a bit limited as my husband likes more modern IPA but I was more than happy with the wine selection. We would like to come back as the hotel is in the perfect location and it’s nice to stay in a proper pub (they seem to have all disappeared these days) will be interesting to see what they do with the place now it’s under new management. Overall a pleasant stay! Breakfast wasn’t included , however we were recommended St Leonard’s in the high street which is a gorgeous and very posh eatery . The food was lovely, affordable and a real treat.

We stayed at no64 the joiners last weekend. I must say, the decor is absolutely stunning. From booking to when we left Sharon could not do enough for us. She suggested places for us to visit and where was nice to eat. A very quaint boutique hotel on top of a lovely pub where we had a few drinks to finish our nights off. West Malling is a lovely little village that we hadn’t heard of and we now know we will definitely be coming back to visit. Lovely restaurants. The room was clean, comfortable and the decor very French. Which just made it all the better in my opinion. If you want to visit west malling and have walking distance this is the place to stay.
