My first trip in a house boat started from kumarakom at around 12 in the noon. There was a short stop for lunch inside the boat, after which the boat slowly moved into the backwaters.we were 8 of us travelling. The boat had a upper deck and an air conditioned lower deck with TV , though we dint watch. 3 rooms, all air conditioned with attached bathrooms and a separate kitchen.A helper, driver and a cook to cater us . For 5 hours we travelled on the backwaters and then the boat was docked at aleppey. Inbetween they stopped at a fish stall on the river banks where we purchased river shrimps, pearl spotted fish and river crab. Price was expensive when compared to the market price. I suggest buying everything from the market before getting into the boat, though they provide a flexible set full board menu ,know prior to boarding, the menu inside that they provide,so that alterations can be made. Our chef jibu was real good and he made the trip memorable with all his Kerala cuisines. After docking we took a small walk at the banks and then back. In April and May it's hot better to visit in late May to December. Mosquito repellants were provided in the boat, but there was no necessity once we were inside the room.In the morning the boat started at 8 and reached kumarakom by 9 am. It was a memorable experience with great food, lot of chattering , good company amidst nature in gods own country.we travelled through tatvamashi house boats and the experience and hospitality were good.…

We had booked this Resort via makemytrip.com. And the resort is not at all recommendable. If all the resorts are full then also one should not book this resort. Few good things : 1) food taste was good, but it was very very costly(one fulka with butter - 60 Rs). Problems suffered 2) scenery was good Bad Things : 1) Water was very very salty 2) Water was coming very slowly out of tap 3) Bath Shower was not working properly 4) Before handing over the bathroom to us, they didn't even cleaned that 5) No swimming pool 6) Only few tv channels were available. In all the resort is not at all maintained, and everything is so dirty and no amenities to enjoy. Not writing much as running short of time. Resort is not at all recommended...
Kumarakom Lagoon is surrounded by back water .only way to reach Kumarakom Lagoon is by boat . this is a huge property but not well maintained . Foods are fresh , yummy but very expensive . There is no swimming pool. Best place for picnic . Frequency of the boat is also very less. One should avoid during rainy season
We had to book this place because it was last minute plan to take this trip and this was the only place available on MMT. Average food,no massage centers in the resort ( which was a let down), clean neat rooms with minimal facilities for the price they charge. But it's located nice peaceful isolated island. I would say it's not worth the money they charge for the amenities available. A good place to book if you aren't left with much options!hmpf!
This is the most horrible resort that I have ever stayed..Still wondering how they can call this as a resort..We, group of 4 friends recently visited this place...We actually searched for many resorts and ends up in this resort as all others were already occupied.. First of all, don't even look at the pictures that they have put in the site..its far away from reality.. I will not go direct into negatives..Will list some positives that we were able to make out from there. Pros:- Scenic beauty Good location. open air bath facility(not tried) Good service by restaurant boy. Cons:- No way to go out from resort for any emergency. No pool. Bad room service. Room dusty and dirty. No amenities for entertainment. AC and fan in our room were not working. Promised a table fan at last and didn't see that guy after that :) No telephone. Cable was deactivated as they haven't paid the monthly charge :) No coffee machine in room. Food served were too expensive and not of high quality(adjustable when compared to other cons faced). Water coming out from pipes were muddy. Got screwed after seeing the final bill!!!!!!!!!!! and here comes the worst part of our journey On our travel way back to other side of lake, boat got stuck in the middle of lake due to steering complaint and it was actually a frightening moment for all of us. By god's grace only we reached back home from there.. So guys..DON'T EVER GO THIS RESORT...…
We booked our stay at Kumarakom Lagoon through OKTOBOARD.COM, and it was a very pleasant stay at that Lagoon. We checked in 21st May 2015 and stayed for 2 nights, it was a awesome experience - the ambiance, environment, scenery, food and services are awesome. Its like a private lagoon to enjoy with your family. Mr. Prasad (Operations Manager) have guided us for the whole two days, we took the Ayurvedic massage as well, very nice. Overall experience was excellent. I will visit this hotel again in my lifetime or in next Kerala trip.
Booked this resort through Kerala Travels. To reach the island, boat jetty was sent to pick us, which was organized by the resort management. Our car was parked in a safe place before taking a half an hour boat ride to reach the lagoon. No safety life jackets kept in the boat jetty. The lagoon has to be reached before 4 pm and the next obvious ride will only be at 8 30 next morning ... So NO medical emergencies can be met once we get on the island resort. So please carry sufficient medical supplies if u plan to visit. Even during the day time boat jetty is not parked at the lagoon. According to me there is no safety. It was pouring when we reached there and saw that the kitchen and dining roof is leaking, dining area was not clean, pet potties around. Some rooms are spacious and okay, with good view but no internal phone connection. Some rooms have open air bathrooms with creepy creatures around. Staff is good ...Breakfast was bread and butter since we preferred not to have from the resort kitchen. There is no choice other than this hotel, so eat what they provide. I would not recommend this place. Satish Shakti Bengaluru…
My wife and I booked this place for 2 nights ( Apollo voyages). Our driver was lost and could not locate the ferry point to get there. Eventually after 3 hours we managed to get to the lagoon. We were made to wait at the dining area which served as the hotel lobby. Got to the room and was so disappointed. The air con ,fan, tv and telephone were not working. The maintenance guy could not fix it so we transferred to another room which was just as bad (fan only working). The lagoon in front of our room was a quarter full of black foul smelling water and was being drained by some workers. Rooms were in neglect and stale smelling beds. No outdoor activity except for 2 algae covered paddle boats. 2 blocks were half constructed (abandoned) Waited 2 hrs for our lunch . Fish fillet fried totally dark brown, stale smelling fries, salt in shaker in one lump and the pepper had bugs in it. The staff speak very little English. Dinner was worse with hard chappati and dhal. we had enough and got our agent to move us out to another decent place. looks like the owner has left it to is fate…
we were there for a few months, was a great stay with good friends. I had a great suite with private pool and seaview! the specil Ayuarveda Massages wer great, i would do it immediatly! the area is also nive, green and staff extremly professional!
