A perfect place to experience peaceful serenity by the majestic Vembanad Lake at Kumarakom is what this quaint place offers you. Clean and comfortable rooms with lake facing views, caring and concerned staff, lovely home cooked styled meals and a perfect porch which gives you the unending view of the lake makes you feel just as comfortable as you should be while on travel. We stayed at this place for 2 nights and we loved our stay every bit, in fact we didn't even opt for an Houseboat tour as just watching the lake from the verandah was beautiful with spotting of variety of birds too. Just lazing on the chairs outside the room balcony watching tiny fisherman boats and different houseboats pass by was soooo relaxing, loved it ! They prepare food on prior order including breakfast, which we loved as the food was quite delicious. They also have carrom, table tennis, badminton and basketball playing area to enjoy your stay with family. Our son enjoyed playing basketball ! They will also arrange for houseboat/shikara tour if you tell them in advance. Really appreciate the caring treatment from all the staff and the ever smiling helpful faces! Will definitely recommend this place for it's warmth and views, which is absolutely Value for Money!

This cottage is simply wowing in each aspect be it location, staff, cleanliness, or food and specially reception desk team. I just loved each bit of my stay of 1 night. The cottage is massive n spacious with a lovely lake view. The highlight of the cottage is its food and location. The food is very delicious. The service is also very prompt. Location is excellent. They have their parking, so It's pretty easy for guest to reach at the cottage, All in all, an outstanding stay with many fond memories. This cottage is simply wowing in each aspect be it location, staff, cleanliness, or food and specially reception desk team. I just loved every bit of my stay of 1 night. We'd a visit to this place in April 2022, with my family. I have to say, this was the worst place I'd to stay ever, during my vacations. The room price and the food amount they charge was something comparable to a three-star hotel or a resort, however the food quality was very poor (the tea they offered tasted so bad that we all had to leave it there and get it from outside and have ) and this place was lacking basic hygiene. Washrooms could have been more clean and was lacking basic toiletries, which ideally they should have provided considering the price they charged. The room service was also very slow.The premises were full of mosquitoes as well, which made our sleep during night horrible. In short, this place was terrible and I wouldn't recommend anyone to stay there, even if they offer a free stay.

Our stay at Illikalam was a wonderful experience! The resort is located at a peaceful location close to the Kumarakom center. The rooms were neat, tidy and well maintained. Special mention to the super-friendly and courteous staff. They took extremely good care of all of our needs. The food we had was homely and delicious.

A great place to stay facing the huge Vembanadu Lake. Amazing ambiance. Excellent food that reminds you of home cooked delicacies. I ate a lot forgetting my diet :). The view from balcony is breathtaking. Try for one of the lake facing cottages and I am sure you would not repent the decision. The cottages are not known for the luxury part of it, but the comfort, convenience and ambiance are impeccable. The staffs were always courteous, especially Mr. Subodh who comes and checks your well being every time.
I would come back here without a second thought..!

The property is located just in front of the backwater that provides freshness to our mind . Food is home cooked best in quality and quantity. Rooms are spacious and clean, but not luxurious.All the staff are friendly and supportive.strongly suggested. it's feels like our home.

We went there for a get-together and the ILLIKKALAM proved to be a great place. Lot of families were staying in nearby cottages and enjoying their stay.
Pros: • Quite and peaceful place • Great lake view with the option to see the sunset • Can make use of house-boat or speed boat (They do not have this. However, they have contacts and they will arrange it. • Good rooms with clean sheets, towels • Good room service • Very professional way of handling requests via whatsapp group. • Very responsive to all requests • Additional beds were provided with movable cots.
Cons: • Could have maintained the surroundings a little bit more cleaner. • No shops nearby • They could have kept bathrooms cleaner • Need more frequent cleaning of rooms during a day • Wardrobes do not have enough space to hang shirts/pants

This is the second time, I stayed in this property and the overall quality of this accommodation, and especially the exceptional behavior of the staff was always great. Expect simply equipped rooms, beautiful nature and calm place without traffic noise around. If possible, always take the lake facing cottage. It's worth of the little bit higher price.

The place was very peaceful and clean and the lakefront view was something out of the world. The hospitality was super and warm and they even take care of every little requests. We were in a group of 11 people and they accommodated us so well that we didn’t face any issues. We are super excited to visit the place again anytime and would recommend everyone to come and stay here.

Illikkalam is a homestay , so options are limited as regards sports facilities. But they have a badminton court and tennis courts. They can also very easily arrange for the boat rides and rates are reasonable.
Opt for the lakeside cottages, beautiful view of the lake.
From Kochi airport it is about 2 hours drive, it can be less than that, all depends on the traffic situation.
Kochi is approximately 4 hours away from Munnar. From Munnar you can reach Kumarakom via Kochi or via Thekkady (mountainous route,very beautiful)
Nearest airport from kumarakom is Kochi.
There are more places to choose from in the Kumarakom area.
