We stayed at the Villa with private plunge pool and it was quite an experience with secluded outdoors, an open air bath, verandah facing the Vembanad lake at one side, a lotus pond in the other side. Watching the sunset right from the room along the lakebed was an unforgettable experience. We visited on the occasion of my birthday and the hotel staff were kind enough to send us a cake to our room. The resort has it's private artificial lake within it's property that also provides cycling, zipline, kayaking and other facilities if asked for. They do an hour tour of Vembanad lake in the morning thru a boat as part of the daily activities within the resort. It also consists of Chayakada in the evening that provides it's guest a glimpse of conventional roadside teashop serving tea with onion pakoda and banana fritters. They even do lighting of diyas in the evening and a live music during the dinnertime outside their Currymeen restaurant. The Jiva spa was so relaxing and if booked thru any of their early bird package they do provide 20% off. We enjoyed walking thru the property in the morning and it was so peaceful enjoying the Chirping sounds of all the birds and nothing else. The level of attention that every staff in the resort provided to us was a class above. We would definitely visit again and the only regret we had was we just booked for two nights and not longer. We would definitely recommend for those who would like to have a peaceful and relaxing stay and away from all the noisy city crowds.

Taj Kumarakom reminds you of how mankind and wildlife can still live hand in hand in a peaceful way without disturbing each other's natural habitat. Such an amazing lush green property with an enormous amount of birds and reptiles on its property. Waking up to the vembanad lake and birds chirping in the morning is the one thing I will miss. Opening the veranda to sit on it and observe the many animals that are right in front of you, different birds, monitor lizards, turtles, bats, butterflies etc
The villa and the pool were thoroughly and properly cleaned twice every day without us having to even ask for it. A sincere and special thanks to Ched Winfret and the other chefs, for the amazing delicacies he served us. Not to miss, Mr. Nabarun and his team of F&B who served us daily with the same enthusiasm for breakfast, Lunch, Tea and Dinner. Thanks to Nabarun, Devi, Bimal, and Madhu.
Thank you Taj Kumarakom Team for such an amazing and memorable stay. Even through the difficult times of the pandemic, you guys made us feel at home. We were extremely impressed with the hospitality. What a wonderful stay in the midst of nature. Everyone made it special for us and my 16 month old daughter who was pampered to the hilt by the wonderful staff. Chef Omprakash was just too too good, taking care of everything that we needed for our daughter and for us. He ensured that all our food requirements were taken care off. The support staff at the Dinning Room which included Raj, Biman and Suresh were at our service always with a smile. They were all very well Lead by Mr Navrun who was completely hands on from breakfast until dinner. We used to keep wondering how these guys have the stamina to do such a demanding work for so many hours with such a pleasant demeanour.
Mr Sunil, the House keeping head ensured that the Vajpayee Vila (Room No 18) we were staying in was as baby proof as baby proof could be. Our demands of a total blackout when the curtains were drawn was creatively handled with success. The rooms were absolutely neat and clean at all times.
Mr Noel reassured us of all comfort and would regularly check with us about our stay and was always available if we needed anything.
Mrs Priya at the reception was extremely welcoming and painstakingly helped us procure some essential medicines for our daughter which we had forgotten to carry.
The lady at the shop selling antiques was helpful in guiding us to a temple nearby to experience a traditional environment and our experience To the temple was excellent.
Last but not the least the GM, Mr Saneej who must get Credit For managing his people so well. I noticed he would talk to every guests and enquire about their well being and stay.
We just had one of the most memorable trips with our little daughter who just enjoyed feeding the ducks, watching the traditional dancers perform during dinner time and just soaked into the chirping of the birds.

Had booked the TAJ Kumarakom resort with much enthusiasm and was in for a rude shock. The premises were unkempt and was crying for attention. The rooms and bathrooms were similar to any normal hotel and did not really justify the price we had to pay. While we were informed that there were a cyclone and COVID had also called for a reduction in staff, it still did not justify the cost. The premises were unkempt with stagnant water, broken fences, overgrown weeds, and no landscaping.
The staff was courteous but neither the food quality, spread, or amenities deserve a mention. Overall it was a disappointing experience especially since I had been to Zuri the previous year and had enjoyed every bit of the stay. The comparisons are inevitable and more so as I was expecting much more from Taj. I will not recommend this place at least for now.

This is not exactly my first visit to this beautifully serene property laid amidst Mother Nature. But service is still with repeated mistakes & then compromised peace offers which spoiled my entire purpose of this trip. My Spouse’s special birthday cake 🎂 was the worst example for the worst inter-departmental communication. Madhu, Dutta & Bhiman served us exceptionally well to meet our F&B needs. Headed by Sunil, Housekeeping department delivered an improvised service. Special mention to Girish & Santhosh in Housekeeping department. Riju at the FO takes care of small details too in a passionate way & kudos Riju. Priya in the FO needs to pay attention to what a guest wants. FOM, Noel knows me for about a decade now but don’t even bother to communicate what I wanted to his counterpart departments though I’ve given specific requests. My cake blender happened like that though I’ve been clearly trying to give my notes prior to my arrival and after my arrival.
Taj Kumarakom is a very comfortable Taj property that gives a comfort of my home as usual except for the cliche of service mistakes.
p.s : Madhu in F&B deserves all the appreciations for his sincere services rendered though he was pressed with other works to take care of the fully occupied hotel.

We stayed for 3 nights and 2 days. Highly recommend. A special thank you to the staff for accommodating us and kudos to their hospitality. We stayed for the first time at Taj Kumarkom, it was simply a perfect stay . I am happy to share my experience with everyone. As soon as we stepped in the hotel we were greeted by Mr. Noel and Ms.Priya, they did a seamless check in for us and offered us one of the cottage room with lagoon view. The room was amazing. They informed us about the Covid protocols and precautions being taken at hotel. As we had a baby with us they offered a placement of a crib for the infant's comfort . We had also met Mr. Nabrun Dutta , who was handling the Food and Beverage and the Chef Subhash Chetteri. As soon as they got to know that it was a birthday occasion , they made an impressive dinner arrangement with a cake and took the experience to another level. I can't thank enough to the chef and Nabrun for the efforts they and their team took. An arrangement for baby food was also ensured during our stay. During the Hi tea hours , the GM interacted with the guests including us to know about our stay and comfort , it really showed they were concerned and cautious about the guest experience and were willing to take initiatives for their comfort with a smile. The housekeeping staff ensured the room is spick and span clean and sanatised, the linens and towels fresh and well placed. Last but not the least, when one stays at the hotel one is always eager to know all about the hotel and it's surrounding. I would like to thank Mr. Kannan to do a show around of the entire property and share with us the heritage story of the hotel.
The entire hotel had many scenic places to click family snaps. The hotel staff was very courteous and without any hesitation offered to click the snaps for us thus making us retain and cherish the memories of a wonderful and delightful stay

We spent 1 night at the resort, staying at the deluxe pool villa and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The pool villa is worth the money with gorgeous views of the lake and sunset. The private pool is the touch of luxury that you desire...
the only negative was that the service at the restaurants was poor... not to fault the service staff, who were all very professional and helpful. One felt that there were too many customers that the small group needed to serve that affected their ability to get the food in a timely manner.

The stay was a memorable experience with great rooms - tastefully furnished keeping the history and legacy of the building was huge plus, excellent staff who believe in delighting you at every opportunity. The hotel has an excellent activity center with Zip line being excellent. The hygiene standards during the pandemic is very high. Food was superb. Overall one of my most menorable stays (and I have stayed at a lot of 5 star hotels). I will warmly recommend this hotel to all my friends and relatives.

This can be truly rated as the perfect vacation with full 10/10 on every parameter whether it is location, service , cleanliness , food , activities or simply sipping tea while watching the sun set across the backwaters from the safety of the hotel. The children loved cycling , swimming , duck feeding , turtle feeding , ziplining, paint guns and host of other activities. A special mention to Priya at the front desk and all the staff at the resort who go out of their way to make your stay memorable. Must visit & Revisits , as we plan to do again soon.

ON a monsoon visit is best anwered by a local , though if it rains a lot then you might feel a bit confined to the toom/ cottage. I would always take adjoining cottages both for space and some privacy when needed. The spa is in a building , individual cottage showers are open to sky.

The resort in Kumarakom is a 14 kms distance by road approximately from Kottayam railway station. You could book a car from us or any reputed travel agency for convenience. The exit is from platform 1 side to the porch of the railway station and its also possible to hail a cab from there though Kottayam does not have metered cabs. Services like OLA and UBER are extremely limited. Please call us on the hotel number for further assistance.
