We stayed at the property with family and the experience exceeded our expectations. The rooms were neat and clean, enjoyed the hospitality and would love to visit again. They arranged for our trip on house boat at short notice.
honestly i didnt expect this place to be sooo wonderful, firstly this is not a hotel with room service nor its a resort with valley or sea view, but is situates just 200 meters away from kumarakom bird century, the rooms, are just fantastic though they are small but ok for two people, fresh clean white leanen on the bed with veryy clean bathrooms just spotless, for tv you can step out to the dining area , the food was just soo delicious, honestly the only place where i liked the food in kerala was here because it was made with soo much love by mrs saji, rest other place just spoilt my stomach, i recommend you take your meals here only. The hosts are just fantastic soo loving and caring and soo welcoming in their traditional home.mrs saji was soo sweet always there with a smile to help u with whatever you want.. If u are not looking for a 5 star resort, then without any doubt just book this property…
We stayed with a friend in Kumarakom Wood Castle. The owners were very very nice, the food offered for breakfast is AMAZINGLY good and tasty with fresh fruits from the garden. The hotel is well located at 5 min walking distance from the birds sanctuary and the backwaters. The bedroom is modern, spacious and clean. I highly recommand this place.
The rooms are clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent Rooms are very nice with AC and basic amenities. Bird sanctuary and boat jetty are on walkable distance from the property. Enjoyed the stay will visit again.
Beautiful area where they pride themselves on eco-tourism. One of the Heritage properties with Ancient Architecture and Modern Touch. Wonderful service from the property owners. They were very helpful all the times and looked us like their family . Cab for sight seeing and boating arranged by them was fantastic and they drivers were friendly . Breakfast was great, beautiful landscape and neat/comfortable rooms. Worth a few nights stay, definitely a place to visit again. A lovable place to live and definitely sweetest memories to cherish. Would love to return any day!
Wood Castle is a great choice for anyone wanting to go on the backwaters. The hotel is beautiful with this wood in and out. The owner and his wife are very friendly and the breakfast is great!! It's clean, easy to find and a great spot for day trips. We stayed with 6 other friends and loved it!
Rooms were clean, comfortable and well furnished with nice wooden furniture. The bathroom facilities including shower and hot water were also excellent. The owners are incredibly warm and welcoming, and it was very interesting to find out from them about the local area. They were also incredibly accommodating, and as well as helping to organize activities in the local area, they were willing to go above and beyond in order to help us. I would thoroughly recommend this place.
Kumarakom, we learned, is a very broad area on the northeast side of Vembanad Lake in Kerala’s famous backwaters. The resorts are spread out and relatively isolated, favoring peace and tranquility over the amenities of more populated areas. Instead of the Taj or other pricey resorts, consider this happy, clean, comfortable guest house about 1/2 mile up the road and maybe 1/10th the price! The owners are a warm, inviting couple who purchased and restored a rare all-wood-constructed multilevel property. The downstairs is primarily a museum and gift shop. The second floor has guest rooms with private-baths (new fixtures and hot water), balconies, A/C, fans, locking cabinets and good beds. Rooms aren’t huge, but certainly large enough and there’s also a common living room and dining room where the complimentary breakfast is served (fresh fruit, bread, tea/coffee and traditional Indian fare, all delicious). I understand they are finishing out the third floor as demand increases. WiFi was strong. The location is good enough for the spread out area. Five minutes walk to the bridge and you’ll find the Shikara boats for backwater tours. We paid Rs. 1300 for two people, three hours. Make sure you get comfy cushioned seats and not hard wicker or plastic! Five minutes walk north and there’s a great Ayurvedic Massage and Therapy center waiting to take away all your stresses. Across the street is a clean, serviceable restaurant and there are plenty of small bodega-type shops to get whatever else you might need. Taxis and rickshaws are hard to come by—ask the owner for help (or a ride!) or reserve through GozoCabs.com. We’re a gay couple and no one batted an eye at our request for one bed. The owners are truly delightful, kind, welcoming, knowledgeable, helpful and accommodating. We can’t speak highly enough about our experience here!…

Awesome place...very well maintained. Reasonable and very helpful couple. They made our stay so memorable. A spl mention of Aswin our point of contact, he was super and planned our itenary so well that we did not have any issues. Overall the trip was so good and thanks to aswin and family. Oh a special mention about the museum in the hotel there...you can find real good old and antique items there..they also have few items for sale as well. If you plan to visit kumarakom...let woodcastle be the choice of ur stay..
