It's just a wonderful place right at the lake, with little channels running through the property. It's next to a bird sanctuary and if you take the bidding tour through the gardens, you will see a lot of birds. Food is good, service very friendly. The only thing: the pace is not really in India. Many staff have adopted Western...

Delightful place to stay. You can get there only by boat. The butterfly garden is swarming with the things. Lots of different varieties. The bird life is profuse. Peaceful if you like peace. Well appointed two storied rooms with outside en suites. Excellent menu. And the staff are wonderfully well trained and helpful. Thoroughly recommended.

Magnificient envrironment and park, best rooms some of which in traditionnal houses, excellent cuisine and buffets and above all extremely friendly staff and management thus always within the frame of a simple and warm human relation. Nothing snobish but kind attention to the guest's comfort. Extremely well managed. Massage, yoga etc. plus interresting side visit programmes .

The setting is glorious and the accommodation is comfortable and attractive. We were in the central section of a 'heritage' mansion, bedroom upstairs and living area downstairs with a delightful outside shower and bathroom complete with banana tree. Service is friendly, courteous and super-efficient. They go the extra mile in many ways - on our way to our room we...

This may be in a backwater but the quality of the place is definitely mainstream. From the moment you arrive by boat down a narrow channel you know you are in for a treat. Set amidst lush grounds with views across the lake and paddy fields this provides for a very relaxing stay. Accommodation is spacious and well equipped, the...

Can't find sufficient praise for this hotel. They go out of their way to organise activities, eg bird watching, butterfly watching, a talk on the inland sea/lake and how it developed. There is an excellent shell food restaurant and although I had a doubtful meal at the main restaurant it was only the once. The hotel layout is a joy...

A charming resort type of place on the backwaters in south India. Lovely grounds and room although to go downstairs to the bathroom seemed odd, especially during the night. Very comfortable bed. Food was good, but not great. You are trapped there, so it would be better as an all inclusive rather than a bed and breakfast. Some good activities...

Coconut Lagoon Hotel is only accessible by boat and you are greeted by the staff on arrival and offered a coconut to drink from. The staff are especially warm, friendly and always smiling. The ground are very well kept and there is an attractive swimming pool. The pool side bar serves delicious cocktails, and snacks and sandwiches. Rooms are very...

A rather larger resort than we would like but the large area absorbs it very well. The staff are terrific and there are a number of activities within the grounds. The rooms are good and the food excellent if a little pricey.

After reaching Kumarakom, we got a soothing boat transfer from the boat jetty to the sprawling green premises of the CGH property by the gorgeous Vembanad Lake, Coconut Lagoon. We were ushered in with flowers, namaskaras and melodious music. But most importantly, extremely warm smiles. The pool villa that we resided in comprised a private pool, an open sit-out, a...
