I have stayed three times in L'Oustaloun. The rooms are very charming, and the beds are very comfortable. If you get a room with a view on the Place, you can watch the scenery from above. I just spent four days in room 5. A very large room, and a modern bathroom and a view of the Place. The food...

This hotel is a bit funky, but a pleasant quaint atmosphere makes up for the several flights of steps. The owner was kind enough to carry my bag up to my room. I stayed in Room #8 which is what they call a quadruple room. It had two full beds and a large nice newly renovated bathroom. It was comfortable...

The hotel is quaint and very charming, and the restaurant is fabulous. We had the best meal we've had in France yet, after being in southern France for 4 months. It is obvious that the locals enjoy this restaurant also. The service was great, and the food was interestingly prepared. We will go back.

We Reserved 4 days quite a while ago. Pictures do not honestly portray this place and we were troubled by mold or something that created severe respiratory distress and wanted to cancel the remaining 3 days. Only after a really ugly confrontation did the owner let us cancel the 3 remaining days. We would not be leaving this negative review...

We chose l'Oustaloun as we had enjoyed a wonderful meal there many years ago, and because of its central location in Maussane, our favourite Provençal town. However when shown up almost three flights of stairs (this being quite an old building there is obviously no lift) we had mixed feelings about our room. Agreed, it could be called "quaint" if...

My husband and I had the distinct pleasure of staying at l’Hotel l'Oustaloun during the week of 10/2 to 10/9. When we arrived, we received a warm welcome by the hotel/restaurant owners who showed us to our very charming room. It was carefully decorated with each piece, adding to the overall quaintness and character of the room. From our window,...

The Alpilles in general are a lovely area to investigate in Provence. Rugged mountain miniatures, great for walking/climbing. A village on the southern edge is Maussane and on the village square is L'Oustaloun, an immaculate place typical of the sort of hotel we have loved to discover over the years. The rooms overlook the square, which is often bustling with...

'I stay in this region as a semi-resident so I thought my insights might be of some interest' Thierry runs the best restaurant in Maussane and the hotel is charming, spotless and about as nice as a 2* can be at these great rates. But..it is the amazing restaurant that the locals (I guess I'll include myself) get to enjoy...

We didn't stay at the hotel but the restaurant was recommended by the staff where we stayed in Maussane. Service was great, food excellent. We had the set menu and chose salad and a riccotta cheese pastry entrees, with a duck dish and steak dish for mains, and creme brûlée and a chocolate sponge cake for dessert. We paid 90...

L'Oustaloun is the essence of all that is great about Provence -- you feel as if you've been welcomed into the home of the warm husband and wife owners. The restaurant offers excellent food and ambience -- be sure to make a reservation -- and the few guest rooms are attractively decorated and a steal. This former 16th century abbaye...
