Stayed one night only mid March '15, so didn't have a chance to experience everything this hotel offered. Our walk to our cabin room was across a road and over a small bridge which straddled an attractive, fast running stream. Our room was set amongst gardens and thermal pools. A soak in the thermal pools is a must. Our room was...

The location is top notch. The pools are perfect, the atmosphere wonderful. We had a wonderful day/evening at this hotel and it was truly perfect. There are pools right outside your door and that is such a great amenity. The food in the restaurant was also very good. We were lucky enough to see the volcano for 5 minutes while...

This hotel was included in our Gate 1 holiday. It's located in a remote setting but the cabin lodging is very quaint and the outdoor landscape beautiful. The thermal pools are right in front of the rooms. We were glad that we had booked the private thermal bath/massage and it was very soothing, and relaxing! Our dinner was quite late...

I have been to this place on several times and love it! It is a perfect place to unwind and relax and recharge some energy! It is very close to Quito (about 1hr) , so it is the perfect place for a short trip away from the city. Even though you could go for the day, and many people do,...

We spent an all-too-short one-night visit to Termas de Papallacta as part of a Gate1 tour of Ecuador. Alas, we did not arrive until around 5:00pm and had to leave early the next morning, but we will never forget our visit. The hotel -- which is a rather large complex of buildings and villas spread across two sides of a...

Cabins are fine but fairly basic. Thermal springs/baths lovely and right outside the door. Restaurant food barely adequate - rolls inedible, food somewhat tasteless, service desultory. Visit for the hot springs and beautiful nearby scenery.

This is a beautiful resort. We loved the thermal pools right outside our cabin. We had a great hike right on the property and loved it. Only stayed here one night as part of a Gate 1 Travel tour. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Termas de Papallacta is a Hot Springs SPA, Resort & Convention Center nestled in a majestic valley of the high Andes only 45 minutes driving distance, 31 miles (50 kilometers) from the new Quito Airport. We are located at Km 65 on the way to Baeza following the Interoceanic road. Our resort is on the "Cinnamon Trail", the same route that the Spanish conquistador Francisco de Orellana took in 1542 when he crossed the Andean mountain range searching for gold and other treasures, and which unexpectedly led him to discover the Amazon River. Papallacta is the doorway to the Ecuadorian Amazon region, despite being in the Ecuadorian Highlands at an altitude of 10.827 feet (3.300 meters) above sea level and of an average daytime temperature of 14°C (57°F). ... more   less
