What a beautiful village Palazzuolo sul Senio is!! Ercole is an excellent host and always on hand to help. Our evening meals were enjoyable and varied, everything homemade with local ingredients. Breakfast wasn't particularly good though and I struggled to find anything I liked. A unreliable coffee machine meant we only got one small coffee each, despite Ercole's best efforts....

Excellent local food, meticulously presented. If you are in luck with the weather you can eat on the covered terrace surrounded by flowers and shrubs and just down from the sun-trap swimming pool. We were in an apartment room with plenty space and facilities. The retro furnishing is part of the charm of the place. The hosts were very friendly...

The food is excellent and we concur with previous reviewers' comments. It is cooked and served with love - something no mass-catering operation could emulate. Ercole is a delightful host and cares very much about his guests' comfort. Our rooms was clean and the bed comfortable. On the downside, it was quite small, not helped by the large, rickety old...

The food was overcooked and while the menu said the dish cost 16 euros each we were charged 22 euros each. We did not ask for the contorni, which actually looked like decoration on the plate. It really was disappointing.

My husband and I spent a magical week at Locando Senio. It was everything we'd hoped for on our holiday. A beautiful medieval town nestled in a valley surrounded by Tuscan mountains from where we set off everyday on walks through wildflower meadows and refreshed in waterfall pools. We stayed in one of the lovely rustic suites filled with antiquities...

Just back from a lovely stay with Ercole, Roberta and Emmanuel at this lovely property. The rooms (we had two of their suites), facilities - lovely sun trap of a swimming pool, absolutely lovely 5 course meals (you can have fewer courses - but we were given a few dishes I'd never tried before) mainly sourced from local farmers plus...

Locanda Senio is an inn, restaurant and apartments situated in a small town in the mountains north-east of Florence and Tuscany. It is run by Ercole and his wife Roberta who does the cooking. They have been there for 29 years. We visited previously 14 years ago, and it is as friendly and quiet as ever. We stayed for a...

Warmly welcomed by Ercole, we were delighted by his wife's superb cooking at their old inn in medieval Palazzuolo sul Senio in the heart of Italy's unspoilt Mugelo ( the hills between Florence and Ravenna). We had a log fire in our sitting room in the suite, ate excellent breakfasts and over indulged over Roberta's amazing dinners of local produce,...

We stayed for a week whilst walking with Headwater. The food was amazing, with a completely different menu every night. The six different types of homemade bread each evening were a real treat. We particularly enjoyed the cookery demonstrations and wine and olive oil tastings that were part of our package. The walking was beautiful..

Unless you are staying in the apartments, there are only a few and they are charming and quite spacious, then look elsewhere because the value is not there. After an annual touring holiday of Italy and France, staying in similar accommodation each night, we found the prices here were exorbitant especially given the fact that our room and bathroom were...
