We arrived not knowing what to expect, what we received was above any expectation that we could have had. The room was spotless and had paper towels, sanitizer and cleaners which clearly had been used (in a good way). We saw very few people and felt like we were the only ones there. The restaurant on site, Bag & Kettle, was delicious and so covid-19 compliant. We hiked, kayaked, disc golf, read books, mountain biked and just enjoyed the fresh air. We felt like we escaped the virus for a week which was perfect. Thank you Sugarloaf Mountain Hotel!

I have skied Sugarloaf a few times, most recently 3/1/21, right after a little fresh but heavy snow. Sugarloaf does a lot of grooming and appeals more to an intermediate skier than a beginner. It got very windy (60-70 MPH gusts) with frigid temps, making the snow super hard. Great for racing skis but very hard to be in control with regular recreational skis. Because it is such a big hill, with Covid19 you often have the trail to yourself. Skiing midweek is great, but their mid-mountain lodge was notopen on Monday. Lift tickets cost what they cost. Considering the real estate and operating expenses, I think lift tickets are worth paying whatever the resport is charging.

We have stayed at the Sugarloaf Mountain Hotel many times and have never been disappointed and this time (Feb, 2020) was no exception. We had a room on the 3rd floor with two queen beds, it was spacious and the beds very comfortable. The room was immaculate and excellent service daily by staff. We ate breakfast and dinner in teh dining room and our breakfasts (buffet style) were brightend by the friendly and attentive service of "Emily".
When we booked we could not get the same room for 3 days due to demand, On the second day I asked front desk attendant "Arya" if she could help in avoiding changing the room, she quickly checked her computer and said "no problem, I can help with that". What a positive young lady and very friendly and helpful. Just one of the many reasons we return annually.

We stayed here while on a golf outing to Sugarloaf Golf Course. The hotel is very nice, rooms were cleaned & sealed per COVID standards. We only interacted with one staff member during the entire stay & he wore a mask & was very personable. The bed had spotless linens, was comfortable & the bathroom was well stocked. Cleaning crew does not come in during a brief stay but there were plenty of white, fluffy towels. The area is pretty isolated with most restaurants closed and no evening activities- bars, entertainment- in the off season but that’s precisely why we chose this place. No COVID worries. It would be awesome to stay here during ski season as it is right at the base of the lifts. Great stay.

The hotel looks great on the outside and the rooms look good on the website too, but…
The rooms are nothing special and are in need
Of a face-lift… it just looks outdated and tired. Also the shower needs safety hand rails.
I nearly slipped and there was nothing to grab on to…
The rooms were clean. And the front desk staff was excellent. The on site restaurant was good, but pricey. The outdoor hot tub was large, but not very hot. Also the 10pm closing time was a bit early for vacationers.

We visit Sugarloaf Mountain at least once a year, and this time we stayed at the Hotel. We have done so before, and always enjoyed the incredibly friendly staff members, and well appointed rooms. The beds are really comfortable and the rooms had everything that we needed. The food in the restaurant is delicious, and in general, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. All of this made for a great week, and we will be back!
Thank you to all the people at the Sugarloaf Hotel who made our stay extremely enjoyable.

What a complete disappointment. Upon arriving to our room, we discover you have to climb this little, old wood, small spiral staircase to get to the bedroom. Dangerous to try to get yourself up the stairs, let alone your clothes/suitcase into the bedroom, so they do have a clothes dresser by the entrance door at the bottom of the spiral stairs. Staff said they couldn't offer me a room without the spiral stair case. We are here the first week in August 2023, the place is virtually empty and they wouldn't offer us a different room with no stairs to a bedroom Terrible customer service. The bathroom sink wouldn't drain the first night. After two calls to the front desk, they did get it to drain. The rooms were clean, but dated. The advertisement said there was a swimming pool at the hotel, but there is not one, only a hot tub. You have to drive down the road a ways and pay $12 per person to use it for the day. It was closed today. Many of the activities that we saw advertised for summer fun - ski lift, frisbee golf, mountain biking, and other activies were closed. Half of the restaurants on site and in the area are closed on Monday and Tuesdays. We checked out after our second night and going to stay somewhere else. Good bye.

Easy check in & out. Nice easy access to the ski hill and ski lockers included. Unit was comfortable, clean and parking close by, just over priced at $366 night. The 2 hr wait for an overpriced $26 burger on a non crowded Sunday night at 45North Restaurant was a little ridiculous. $21 for three scallops! Spend the $21 on the mussels instead, much more fare. I'll be staying elsewhere in future.

We enjoyed two nights at the Sugarloaf Hotel. We booked a standard room that came with two queen beds. Two large arm chairs with a round table and mini bar/kitchenette area was an added bonus. The only concern with our room was the hot water was very inconsistent in the shower both days.
The hotel provides complimentary buffet breakfast, valet parking and ski/board lockers in a heated room. Few stairs and your at the lift to start your time on the mountain.
We didn’t use the outdoor jacuzzi but it looked nice.
The best feature of this hotel is their team! The ladies at the front desk, valet, wait staff at restaurant 45 North and the room service attendants were very pleasant and went out of their way to show appreciation to their guests! We truly appreciate this and the welcoming atmosphere! We hope to return! Take advantage of Boyne Rewards and visit the fresh donut shop.

My teenage son and I loved the skiing, just a short walk up to the lift. The room is spacious and the beds are comfy.

What we missed was a common area with a pool table or the like (ping pong or foosball table would be nice too) for youth to gather and play games, as the hot tub was more for the older generation (like myself) and apart from that not much to do for apres-ski (other than going out for drinks for the 21+ crowd).

Another downer was the rooms sometimes don’t get done before 3:30pm when the lifts close and people return to their rooms just to find they were not done. Perhaps hiring more staff would help that problem.

Overall service was good and the fruit bowl is a nice touch in the lobby.

Hi Peggy, Unfortunately, we don't travel with our pets, so I can't answer the question. I know it is a beautiful place with very friendly and helpful staff members!

how old do you have to be to check in
Answer from LopingianTravels
Bonn, Germany506 contributions159 helpful votes
I think it might depend on the number in the party and how many "adults" are to be in the room. If the room is to be shared among a mixed group of ages, that is some below and some above 21, then it may be possible for the first arriving party to check in even if the age of the first arrival isn't 21 years. Again, as Simone D suggests, call the reservations desk for assistance.

Thanksgiving is usually JUST at the start of the season. Not a lot of slopes open, usually just a few that they have made snow on. Of course it varies from year to year but the mountain aims to be open by then. As for Tubing I don't think the do that these days but check with the ski area for activities.

Is there a pool? (Not hot tub)?
Answer from Kate P
Portland, Maine, United States22 contributions4 helpful votes
The hotel has a huge outdoor hot tub. If you want a cool water pool for water aerobics or swimming laps you would need to go to the Sugarloaf Fitness Center. Some of the room packages may include a pass to the fitness center. Others do not. I think the day rate is around $12/adult
