Anisa's guesthouse has been a true authentic experience to remember. I am glad I opted for this lodge instead of a hotel. Using the toilet/shower was a little tricky, but the decoration, space and warmth of Hailu, Anisa's associate and guide around Harar made it...More
Great place to stay if you are looking for something real and safe in Harar. The local guide Alem (0913-09 72 66) is the one to call if you want the best guide in Harar. She will take you around all the sites and let...More
The rooms are as you can expect in a guesthouse. Small, but clean. The other facilities were very poor. No hot water or internet. I understand this is what you can expect in Ethiopia, but stop telling these promises. Besides this, I had to change...More
We stayed with a group of 9 in Anisa's guesthouse. What an incredible experience !

I can help with this. It can be confusing. She lives in this guesthouse with her family, and the only way you can make reservations is via other people, the tour guides in Harar. I'm not sure if you can do so via others, but I know you can through hailu_harar at yahoo (for some reason won't let me put in the e-mail in my response in the normal way). Hailu can make a reservation on your behalf with Anisa. Hailu is also an amazing tour guide. Also set up a walking tour with him. We stayed at Anisa Guest House and did the walking tour with him and thought it was great. And definitely feed the hyenas! I spent a month in East Africa. Harar was my favorite place. Enjoy!
