Arreau is one of those classic French mountain towns that is small enough to be peaceful, but big enough to have at least one of almost everything you'd want on the service side. The Hotel d'Angleterre is not the only place to stay in town or surrounding area, but definitely one of the few really good 3* places around. It...

Old hotel with character. Modern, but has been restored keeping old features, decor and atmosphere. The village is picturesque with its old buildings, church, market place and river. The hotel is situated at the foot of the Pyrenees. Stunning views. Easy drive to nearby mountain tops. The restaurant serves delicious local food made from fresh ingredients. Rooms are well furnished,...

Ideally positioned for visiting the Pyrenees. We had a very comfortable, clean and well equipped room. The evening meal offered a varied menu which proved to be excellently cooked and presented. The grounds were attractive and there was a nice swimming pool. It was also good to have secure parking at no extra cost. There was a choice of two...

Stayed here for one night whilst on an extended transit through the Pyrennes. Arreau is one of the most beautiful towns in the Pyrenees, and the hotel is well positioned in the centre. Bottom Line Upfront is that this is a stylish place, very well appointed, but rather too sure of itself manifested in some extremely off hand service. It...

We found this relatively small hotel right in the heart of town, with charming small narrow streets, and the most beautyfull old houses around the town. The hotel was an extremely nice surprice, very quiet, nicely decorated, and with a beautyfull backgarden and pool area. The restaurant is a chapter in it's own. Gourmet food and wonderfull wines, and the...

This was our first visit to the Pyrenees and we are so glad we actually decided to reserve a hotel for a 2 night stay en route from Spain to France. The reviews read well and the area looked fantastic. The reality was a couple of days of almost complete bliss! Our room was modern and comfortable - the bathroom...

We stayed overnight on our journey into Spain and were very satisfied with our stay. The hotel has been extensively renovated and a fine job has been made. The common areas are very tastefully decorated, as was our bedroom which was of a good size. The bed was fabulously comfortable (I've very rarely had better), so much so that I...

We recently spent 5 days at this family run 3 star hotel, following a first brief visit some 5 or 6 years ago to watch a stage of the FDF. The hotel has since been substantially and beautifully renovated and redecorated. Our room was large, comfortable, very well equipped and delightfully decorated in various shades of grey. We stayed on...

If you travel in the Pyrenees, don't miss Arreau. The town is gorgeous and interesting, with many historic buildings. And the Hotel d'Angleterre is a lovely hotel with modern, clean, comfortable rooms. The proprietor was extremely helpful and thoughtful.
