In the heart of the medieval center, this hotel housed in an old residence has a lot of charm... and the corollary of good and bad.

The rooms are very different and so it's a bit of a lottery when it comes to comfort, whatever the stake (from 80 to 120 € on average for a double depending on the period) and there are not only winners. That said, these prices are low average for the city and nearby offerings.

The area is ultra quiet: no noise at night but the nocturnal tranquility is ultimately a function of the discretion of other customers and therefore uncertain because the internal soundproofing is not effective.

No air conditioning or ventilation

WIFI: a nightmare

The continental breakfast at 10€ is rather limited for this price

Parking is a plus, yes but it is limited in space (it's wise to arrive before 5 p.m.) and difficult to access because you have to make a 90° turn in a narrow alley to enter: mission impossible for the long vehicles and vans. Once inside, there is no question of taking your car back for the evening because there is no more room on the way back. !

The welcome is attentive and friendly. On the other hand, the pressing incentive to make reservations without delay in two restaurants supposedly “closest to the hotel” is completely remote-controlled because the “proximity” in question is more “family” than geographical. These restaurants ("La Parenthesis" and "L'entr'acte" ranked 9th and 10th on TA in Semur are not catastrophic but there are around ten others of all ranges better rated and also just a stone's throw away.

In conclusion: mixed impression for this stay

We stayed here for one night. Rather dated hotel, but with the necessary basic services. Spacious room and above all bathroom, cleanliness without praise or infamy, free hotel parking, excellent location as it is located just outside the pedestrian center of Semur. The lady at the reception was very kind. There is no lift and the cost is medium-high for a 2-star hotel in the center of a small village.

It deserves three stars for its location, free internal parking and cleanliness (not a given in France). However, the structure is very dated and not well maintained. However for one night it was fine. The village of Semur is worth a visit.

Charming hotel in beautiful surroundings. The rooms were spacious and clean, the breakfast was delicious and the staff was very welcoming and nice.

We only stayed for one night passing through on our way to the south of France but would have loved to have spent one or to more nights at this hotel.

We stayed in the family room with two children and loved the French feel of our room. A pity that some of the rooms seem to have been renovated in a more modern style.

This hotel is undergoing a transformation and the new rooms are truly incredible, spacious, bright and well equipped. Special mention for the attentive staff. The proximity to the historic center is an asset.
I was able to park my motorcycle inside the sheltered courtyard. This is very quiet.

This hotel is not the Ritz, but the staff treats you as if you were at the Ritz. What a nice bunch of people! They answered our questions, chilled a bottle of wine for us, and even let us park in the garage in the courtyard as it was raining heavily. The town was charming for a walk and the store owners were very pleasant. The hotel breakfast was great. In sum, we would stay here again. A charming hotel in a charming town.

Good location, clean rooms, but dingy looking building and dreary atmosphere. We had trouble getting into the room and in and around the hotel, door onto, the street was locked after 11 pm and if we had not luckily met a guest, leaving to walk her dog we would not have been able to come in for the night. Reception attendant on duty was a maid who had to fill in for the reception clerk, who, apparently was on vacation. Bizarre access restricted by individually locked doors, mid afternoon the lobby was locked while the maid ran an errand, we even locked ourselves, out of the room by leaving the key in the door on the outside. Anyway, if ww ever came back we would try another hotel. They were not very welcoming or helpful. Parking was also very hard to find.

We stayed here after reading about it in a Rick Steves guidebook. The room was dark, dated, and quite tired. A bit on the small side, but this is not unexpected in Europe. Unfortunately, we were placed directly next to the stairwell, which was terribly noisy. We asked to move rooms, but they told us it was not possible. We found a flea in our room (and saw other guests with dogs). Very bare bones for a hotel -- no tissues, drinking glasses, or anything. The overpriced breakfast was EUR 9 -- glad we only did it one day, as it was bad coffee, canned fruit, and cheap yogurt. On the positive side, the hotel had parking, the bed was comfortable, free wi-fi, and you can easily walk into town from the property. Would opt for a B & B next time.

We booked a double for one night for 68 euros. While not expensive, we probably would have found a cheaper spot had one been available since we were working with a modest budget.

We were quite pleased with the location and the hotel, which is a lovely as the town itself. The room was quite large with an extra single bed in the room and I've had apartments smaller than the bathroom. The bed was comfortable and we had a nice hot shower. Everything was quite clean. The toilet seat in our room would not stay up, but other than that weird quirk no complaints. We were given a cable type device to access the (free) wi-fi in the lobby.

We had several questions about buses for the owner. He was a nice guy not able to provide us with the information we needed. I'm guessing most people drive instead of taking the bus.
