It was eight of us we spent a magnificent long weekend between the beautiful piazza of Marzamemi (though this was ruined by lound music in a bar next to the restaurant were we eat and sellers of stupid games in the middle of the glorious piazza), amazing beaches (some of which wild) and the beauty of the villa Bruno di Belmonte, with its elegance and wanderful views. We had lovely rooms and we spent much time in the terrace and garden. It was always af wish to go back 'home' and have an aperitif under our favourite flat roof in the garden, this both after the beach and at night after dinner and partying. The people attending us were very kind and welcomed us and gave us all the information we needed. We felt like they were our friends and spoke about them after the trip. We want to go back. More

Finding this place was a nightmare - it is not at the address that comes up on Expedia and in the end we only got there by me looking for buildings which resembled what I'd seen on their website. But once there, what a joy! The Villa sits on a small cliff top, with views straight out over the Ionian Sea at one of the southernmost points in Europe. The accomodation is in the main house and in an outbudiling. We were in the latter, an elegant little complex of rooms with fossil-filled limestone walls and big, brown, old-fashioned furniture. There are two terraces overlooking the sea where an adequate breafkast is provided free, with the option of ordering a more substantial one for additonal money. Staff were only visible at breakfast time - this is far from a conventional hotel, but were very friendly when they were around. We were only there for a couple of nights, but could have spent much longer, lazing on the terraces and gazing at the view. More
