Many travelers commend the Premier Inn Cardiff West Hotel for its spotless rooms and neat public spaces, though service has room for improvement. While the hotel's proximity to Cardiff and Barry, along with free parking, is praised, guests are less impressed with room pricing and the value offered.
The welcoming atmosphere and notable restaurant receive positive mentions, yet some visitors experienced issues with room readiness and temperature control. Opinions on staff range from commendable to indifferent, suggesting service inconsistencies.

Hotel's Favourite
We visited here for a couple of nights as we planned to visit St Fagans which is nearby, the location for this was excellent. We used the attached beefeater on both nights of our stay and the staff at the hotel and at the restaurant was excellent on all occasions, cheerful and helpful.

Booked in at the 11th hour. Normally I use Travelodge as they are fine for what I need and more sensibly priced. Arrived late evening and the room was stuff and hot. Heating was unplugged when I arrived and windows were open. The road is quite busy and so I had a choice of a very hot room or noise and I ended up choosing noise. I can stay in a Travelodge for 20% of the Premier Inn price and Travelodge include a simple desk fan in its own dust cover, really simple stuff.

I spend a considerable amount of time stopping in Premier Inns and this is the first time I have ever rated one as excellent. The actual hotel is not the newest but is kept up to a very high standard and looks very good for the age. Unfortunately there is not a lift.
Upon arriving, with several heavy bags in tow the receptionist realised that carrying everything upstairs would be difficult, and without me asking moved me to a room on the ground floor, instead of the first floor. Before I left reception she had booked my breakfast times and also my times for dinner in the restaurant next door and every time I passed through reception I was asked if everything was alright and did I need anything, irrespective of which member of staff was on.
The friendliness of the staff and their caring efficiency made this hotel stand out compared with others.
The rooms were of the standard to be expected in a Premier Inn and parking is plenty full there.

Clean, comfortable room. Staff friendly and polite. Good location.
the air blown heating was a little reluctant to heat room but it got there in the end. Attached Beefeater restaurant was OK. Food good, but initial service was a bit slow (30 mins from sit down to ordering even though it was fairly quiet)

Firstly, the most enjoyable nights sleep in a long time. Even though we were in the room as you reach the top of the stairs it was so quiet. Very enjoyable. The one thing I missed was the room being made up every day and tea / coffee cups being replaced and tea & coffee etc being replenished. However.... the bin outside the main door of the hotel remained upemptied (rubbish was tipping over and in fact bags were left lying beside the bin for two days!!!). When I was seen taking a photograph of this the bin was then emptied.

Had a peaceful stay with this hotel, stayed for two days and staff did everything they could to help. We stayed in the accessible shower disabled room there was more than enough space, we also had family round to visit at the hotel, which you can do at this hotel. Got there late on Friday and the kitchen stayed open to make us some hot things from the restaurant menu so that was lovely of them, staff all really helpful, food lovely also.

Premier inn have been alright in the past, but this was massive let down. The lady on check inn tried to charge me double of what my email confirmation had said, until I argued I wanted that price. Eventually it got sorted.
Then we got to the room overall pretty good expect no phone signal, wifi that kept disconnecting every 5 mins and very poor air con with the windows sealed so no fresh air could get in.
Then there’s the breakfast- don’t even know where to start on this! Poor quality, poor selection on the Continental. The bacon was tasteless, fried eggs where like boiled eggs in the middle. Think more food was wasted then ate just to quail you and we don’t like wasted food
The only good thing about the whole stay was the location, and decent nights sleep within reason. We won’t be rushing back to this particular branch anytime in the future. Let’s just hope it was a glitch in the matrix and the other hotels in the area are better then this one

Hotel is fantastic, nice and clean, friendly staff, large parking, very close to Cardiff Central and Barry Island.
Only problem was 'the breakfast' at the Beefeater.
It was terrible! The service was the worst i ever seen. Food came 45 minutes after ordering 20 minutes after sitting down. Only 1 round of drinks and no cups given for tea/coffee.
Toasts had to be made by yourself which you had to wait in a queue, by the time you got your toast your food was cold.
They prioritise their own customers over Premier Inn customers.
If you do stay, have breakfast elsewhere.

Good Covid Procedures in place and had enjoyable weekend.
Room 25 appears to be in a new part of the hotel and it was not possible to open window which meant it was far too hot for a comfortable nights sleep.
Restaurant was well organised with booking system and OK for a couple of nights. Restricted menu for dinner and breakfast may not suit everyone but overall the Premier still offers value for money with flexible booking options.

Overall the hotel is great. Great location to get to Barry and Cardiff so it’s great for tourists. Tesco down the road which is handy. The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly :) however we asked for two extra pillows to be told they had “none” and we stayed for 3 nights. We ended up buying 2 pillows from Tesco to save the hassle of asking again. The breakfast was disappointing on the first morning. Good job it was 50% off else we would’ve been more disappointed. We only had a cooked breakfast and a cup of tea but we weren’t told about having no sausages. We also never got asked if we would like any of the other options such as croissants which was disappointing. We didn’t have breakfast for the rest of the trip. The weather had been 30°C for the whole trip so it was a bit difficult to sleep but we were grateful for the fan that was supplied in our room! Also we were only supplied 1 towel which felt like sand paper. For two adults that was annoying.
Overall nice stay and good location but just some things could be improved on!

No Gym or pool. It has a Beefeater Inn adjoined to it. We have stayed here a few times now and the staff have always been helpful and kind.
Taxi should be cheap enough but yes, bus stop is quite close.👍
Personally you would be better off getting the train from Cardiff Central if you are in there as it stops at Barry Island. Not sure about the taxis but there is parking at Barry train station, as the train from there stops at Barry Island.
I think there is a Pizza Hut and something else like 5 mins away from the hotel, there’s a b&m around there too
