Bambu is a small hotel, ideal to enjoy and live with nature with an atmosphere of peace and respect for the environment and its inhabitants. Each cabin has a private bathroom, fan, large and fresh mosquito net, terrace with sea views, cleaning service every day. We have a kitchen for all guests and hotel staff, beach area with hammocks, beds and loungers surrounded by a beautiful vegetation that offers a pleasant freshness and shade. If you do not want to cook there are good restaurants where you can walk. In the area you can make good walks on the beach or Punta Cometa to admire the sunrise or sunset, boat rides to see the nearby beaches and marine fauna such as whales (in winter season) turtles, dolphins, visit the lagoon Window to observe crocodiles, birds and iguanas in their natural environment. There are several yoga centers, horseback riding on the beach, massages, temazcal ...

So there's good and bad things about this place I will start with the good ones First of all if you'e looking for a nice place with great views this is a good one as all rooms have an open view to the sea. Other thing is that is very well located and is close to Mazunte, you can

This place was perfectly located right in the beach. Some rooms at the front probably had great views. Some rooms lacked privacy - they opened onto communal areas (not that there are many people around as it's only a small place). Our room had some maintenence issues and in

Right on the beach. Both of the owners are kind and considerate and helpful. They also speak amazing english. The rooms are wonderful. Built with bamboo and local woods and plaster. The dining table has room for 20 people so people are always gathering around the kitchen.

We will be returning to this delightful place again this winter - this will be our third stay. The rooms are spacious and clean. The common dining table is a great place to meet other travelers or to chat with Memo. And those ocean waves just lull you to sleep! We seldom cook in

It is not a hostel; I'm not sure I have more to add than my original review. I don't know what your concerns are re: "hostel versus hotel." The rooms are private, with private baths. It is not fancy. The clientele is diverse; some young folks who cooked in the communal kitchen. You can't really buy groceries in this town. We ate all meals out - there are maybe 6 or 7 restaurants; we are content with fish and ceviche every night on a mexican beach vacation. You don't need a recommendation - it is a tiny town and you can get the lay of the land quickly. We had ceviche on the beach every day for 3 days at a place I can't remember that Bambu's owner recommended, and there are adequate breakfast places. We don't bother with pizza in mexico but it is there. In terms of accomodations I would reiterate that there is no hot water - that was my main problem. I don't care about a pool but I like a hot shower. But I survived. We never left San Augustinillo but you could easily take a taxi to Zipolite.

"All the rooms are beautiful and right on the beach."
"all cabins are perfect"
"We prefer the upper level rooms, such as the Palapa. All rooms face the ocean but some are further back or facing the communal areas."
"upstairs if you can get it; the beach level rooms are open to everyone and less private"
