Has become an annual pilgrimage with our children and friends in the outlying cottages. Peaceful, stunning countyside, walks and on the edge of the Grootvadersbosch reserve. John and Miranda are great. Bedding, gas stove, fridge etc. Basic but perfect for time without wifi and children's gadgets!

i was planning to camp, but when i saw the "rest camp" which is like a small barn built on the ruins of the original farmhouse, i decided to camp indoors - no electricity, no cellphone reception :), no modcons, but clean and wonderfully peaceful. Although this is ideally suited to a group of hikers or bikers, it was perfect...

We were 2 couples and shared the 2 joined but separate Coral and Quince cottages (named after the tress outside each one) over New Year's eve 2016. It was a fabulous stay of 3 nights. We were able to share in the fun of New years Eve with the family, the kids and all the dogs too. Drove down into...

We were 2 couples on a birdwatching trip and were privileged to spend just the one night here in the 3 bedroomed cottage. Yes the facilities are rather basic, and the decor rather worn but somehow it all adds to the charm. Miranda and John are the most warm, welcoming and eccentric of hosts. It was a delight to spend...

A tranquil and relaxing location - made us feel like we were on top of the world. We'd originally booked Coral cottage but when we arrived late, in the rain, we were offered the lovely Laila's cottage. My daughter was excited that it was the same as her name. The cottage was more like a house - 3 bedrooms and...

The location is very scenic, set overlooking a beautiful valley and other hills. It is quiet and farm-like. If you like cats, there are some to enjoy. If you don't, you'll have to chase them away from the patio area. John and Miranda are very friendly and pleasant hosts. We enjoyed the delicious farm breakfast we had in their house....

A magnificent setting far from the madding crowd. Self-catering accommodation is basic but the hospitality of the owners is first class. The road turns to gravel after Suurbraak so the last few kilometres are not for the basic rental car! The nearest town is about 21km from the farm so pack all that you need for the first part of...

We would have loved to spend much longer in the gentle warmth of Honeywood. A comfortable mid-century cottage, the most glorious views, right next door to Grootvadersbosch Nature Reserve and, to make it even more special, warm welcoming hosts - what more could you ask for? Thank you John and Miranda, we'll be back. Peter and Maggie Slingsby

Our family decided to take a long weekend break and head into the Overberg region (2 -3 hour drive) from Cape Town. We had several excellent recommendations about Honeywood Farm and the couple that own and manage it, John and Miranda Moodie. We booked our break and arrived at this beautiful farm, nestled on the edge of the Grootvadersbosch Nature...

Richard and I held our wedding ceremony and weekend at Honeywood Farm. It is so peaceful and John was fantastic, he was so relaxed and helpful. We will be back to stay for longer and enjoy the surroundings. Thank you for making our day so special!

“Oakdale is a super family home, Laila has so much character, it reminds me of my gran's farmhouse in Zim. Such a lovely farm <3”
Kerosene83, 9 Aug 2014 | Read review
“Laila was close to the main manor, and it was excellent as a couple and I suggest family stay. They have lodges further away, for more privacy, but you will need a good vehicle for the roads, a 4x4 perhaps.”

“It depends what you are after...stay close to the main house if you want to visit Grootvadersbosch or Horse Ride....head out to Hunters or the Barn if you are writing a book, want isolation or are after a very special away from all and everything weekend. Talk to John and Miranda who will no doubt give you best advice for your needs.”
