We returned after staying here 19 years ago and the Dutch couple have enlarged and improved the hotel and dining room a lot. We upgraded our room and had a very nice suite which I would recommend over dodging rafters in the small attic rooms. The dining room is modern and looked to be a good for dinner, but we only...

Bonjour, thank you for your nice review. We particularly like the "baby castle"! Yes, the season is almost at it's end (we close from mid November till mid March) and we can assure you that the paintbrushes are ready to do the necessary maintenance. Thank you for being our guests and looking forward receiving you again in the future, very...

A distinguished hotel, with wonderful owners and very nice accommodations, this hotel reflects the attention to detail of the owners. A cozy bar, two great restaurants, and well appointed rooms. We appreciated the time Arjan and Marije spent with us. The hotel has its own parking lot, and in house restaurant. Additionally they own a second restaurant which is walking...

We stayed here as a base for house buying. The first week we had a room in the old part of the hotel with a turret, very lovely but I did prefer the second week when we had a room in the new part with a great walk in shower and more space. The Management and all staff gave excellent...

Definitely the place to stay in this delightful bastide town. Friendly staff, welláppointed room, excellent retaurant, very good breakfast. There is free parking behind the hotel. There is a pool, (unheated - too cold for me!). Clean, comfortable well refurbished room. Ours was on the ground floor, suitable for disabled guests. Our friends' top pfloor room was less well done,...

Thank you for your nice words on our hotel. Indeed, non of our rooms are the same and some guests prefer bath over shower. Small correction: you did not pay € 15,-- for the dog, but € 11,--. This charge does not always cover the extra cleaning costs. Looking forward receiving you again in the futur, very best regards, Arjan,...

We have been coming to Monpazier and staying at Edward 1er for over 16 years off and on and this year was no exception. The bastide town is an ideal place to explore the region and sitting in the square after 4.00pm reveals the dual character of the town when there is a peace and one can relax after all...

The Hotel Edward's owner's family accounts for 1% of the population of the small old trading town. A trader built the impressive house and showed horses in the straight road outside. Before becoming a hotel it was the home of the local dentist. As a hotel it has a comfortable country house atmosphere. There is no lift so having a...

Thank you for your very nice review. We are happy that you and the rest of your little group of wine lovers from Hong Kong had such a nice time with us. Wifi quality has our attention and only recently we did some major investments in this area, but we also depend on signal strength arriving to the hotel. Very...

I have been interested - no, obsessed - with Bastides for at least 20 years and have wanted to stay the night in one; the problem is that the good, three star, ones are generally pretty small and undeveloped and lack hotels. But Monpazier, one of the very best Bastides has the Edward 1er. Right on the edge of the...

This hotel is set just outside the Bastide town of Monpazier. It is a beautiful chateau with rooms which reflect the style of the building. The owners are very sensitive to the needs of their guests and run the hotel efficiently. There was no tea and coffee in the room and when I bemoaned this fact a kettle, tea and...
