Grotty is the word I would use. Cobwebs on the ceiling, torn tags on the side of the carpet, NO CENTRAL HEATING!! a fan heater - in this day and age. The bathroom was awful and the shower was worse than a 1970s french camp site - a dribble at best fluctuating between scorching and cold for no reason. The...

A tremendous experience the Hotel, just over the water. The old building used to be the old station hotel and recently got some of the room refurbished, we stayed at one of the larger rooms with a view on station road. It just a walk from the center and has plenty of information of things to do in the area....

Recently stayed for a few nights. Made telephone booking three days before arrival for a standard room at a reasonable price inclusive of breakfast. The breakfast was excellent. Plenty of choice for Vegetarians. The room was clean and fairly spacious compared to other hotel rooms. The bathroom was lacking a shelf near the sink for toiletries and a towel rail...

This hotel has recently changed hands and the new owners are working very hard to right various wrongs at this place. They have spent something like 60 K to fix the roof and started refurbishing in the rooms. The building is 19th century and very quirky, and we enjoyed it. There was a group of us, approximately 19 people for...

We stayed as part of a large wedding group. On first glance the hotel looks well presented, clean and pleasant enough. Scratch the surface though and you will discover dozens of little annoyances. Strange layout; you check in by going upstairs to the bar? We could never find any staff without having to have a good search. We requested a...

Booked a last minute overnight stay, we were made welcome and shown to our room it was clean and comfortable. A very good breakfast served by a friendly young man. All in all an enjoyable stay. Good position in nice surroundings.

My husband and I enjoyed an overnight stay and would definitely recommend. Large spacious room, relaxed atmosphere and very comfortable bed. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and it was very enjoyable. The staff very professional and on hand but not intrusive. The food was excellent. Hotel is just a 5 minute stroll from the shops and others...

Reception was bizarrely not on the ground floor, just a card saying please go upstairs to first floor bar area(something we have never encountered before!!!) There was nobody around so had to hunt for somebody and go back downstairs again!! Our room was an attic room up 4 flights...

My husband and I have stayed here 4 times now over the years and we cannot recommend this hotel enough. The staff are amazing and always at hand to assist. We always have a meal in the hotel which is great and enjoy a few drinks by the fire side after dinner.

We come here every year for a friends weekend. The hotel is lovely. Rooms are great and have been recently redecorated. Lovely restaurant where the food is excellent. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is a great base for exploring the area with loads of great walks from the front door. Give it a try - you...
