On the south of the city of Heraklion and on an altitude of 700 m., in the heart of Crete, in a location of incomparable beauty full of stone-paved streets and picturesque alleys, the Aghios Miron “Traditional Cottages” are found. They consist of a complex of 2 buildings that have been characterized as protected monuments by the Ministry of Culture, having singular architectural, morphological and technical elements on their facets and interior typology. The buildings are stone-built, and have been fully renovated, using old restoration techniques and local materials from the adjoining mountains, without interventions that could alter their initial character, the location’s memories and aroma alive.

From start to finish this accommodation was inaccurately described and did not have the amenities that we had paid for such as a spa and hot tub. We paid an additional sum for breakfast which on arrival the owner Poppy said she did not provide. The apartment was unclean, the oven had old food crumbs from the last guests and the fridge had mould. The light in the shower had exposed wiring, the bedroom was separated from the owners apartment by a wardrobe jammed against a door, the bed was poorly made, badly constructed and needed repair. The owner poppy was uncontactable despite repeated attempts via phone, text and email. We were so disappointed with the grubby state of the place, we decided to leave after 3 days. We booked through Lastminute.com who, despite their good customer service and quick response, were unable to secure a significant refund from the owner of this property. Altogether a disappointing experience.

Also we have very low prices 40E for 2 persons,Even thought is not hotel rooms.Ιn addition you did not ask me for something that I probably did not offer and informations about our region that all visitors are interested in.

Our stay was so surprisingly wonderful we stayed an extra week! The accommodations are indeed traditional. The properties have been meticulously restored so you truly feel like you are living like in a Cretan village from centuries ago. Poppi will take excellent care of you. Be sure to visit the village market and get some fresh meat, olives and a bottle of wine. We will return someday soon.

My wife and I stayed at the Traditional Cretan House for a week. We had been looking for a calm, small house far from the beaches and discos. Traditional Cretan House fulfilled our needs perfectly. A bit hard to find up in the mountains in the small village. A arrival heartly greeted by the owner Mrs Popi who showed us around and pointed out interesting places to e.g have dinner. Of course, you may even cook for yourself in the fukky-equipped kitchen. Remember, this is a huse, not a hotel: Take care of yourself, enjoy the village and the sorroudings. from the house. Most of central/southern Crete is in reach by rented car.

The photos were very misleading. We had a very small one bedroomed village house which opened straight onto the road, despite calling as requested more than four hours in advance the house was not ready for our arrival. The owner cleaned while we waited taking five minutes! The shower room is on the ground floor,as there are no curtains on he ground floor door so you are in full view to the street. There is no outside space. The living area is cramped with roughly hand-painted chairs for dining, the cooker is old the crockery very limited. Upstairs looks pretty at first sight but is really just IKEA, the walls are scratched, there are no bedside lights and the air-conditioning did not work, so we were at the mercy of passing scooters and mosquitos. There is a washing machine but no where to dry clothes. We paid 50€ a night not much but our previous spacious spotless apartment on the coast for the same price had a pool and breakfast included! The village was lovely with super cafes and views but we left after only one night we felt we had been taken for a ride.

Vacationing in Greece more often than not means small rooms and tiny bathrooms. So imagine our surprise, when we were presented with a two-story renovated traditional house, equipped with all the amenities of modern life, two bathrooms, a kitchen, and spacious living quarters. The only disadvantage is that the village of Agios Myronas is rather remote and it's a longish drive to the beach. But the visitor is more than compensated by being away from the crowds and the busy roads. The village is friendly and picturesque, and, if you follow Mrs Popi's advice, you will find some very good food around. Initially we were only thinking of passing through Agios Myronas on our way to Knosos, but once we discovered this place we decided to stay for the rest of our vacation. The Traditional Cretan Houses of Mrs Popi are a veritable Cretan gem!
