I spent two weeks at Refugio Marnes in May 2016 with my wife and two girls, aged 4 and 2. During the first week we enjoyed the peace and quiet of the tent which contained all of the facilities we needed. It was a perfect place to relax and feel connected with nature. Our girls enjoyed the vicinity of the...

A truly wonderful experience . Beautiful setting albeit a long and winding road ! Really accessible from the main autoroute and a good road in ...but so quiet when you arrive at your beautiful destination just a few km from the Costa Blanca ! Warm welcome from the owners into their beautifully renovated home and accommodation. Swimming in the purpose...

If you like to relax on your own, this is not the place to be. Despite the fantastic, well designed accomodation on a amazing location. No privacy at all. Rooms very noisy. You can hear every word your neighbours say, or taken a shower. Outside on the communal terrace you sit just 2 meters from your neighbours. In this remote...

We stayed here for a wedding in nearby Xavia and had a great time. Beautiful surroundings, comfy and well designed accommodation, and really well looked after by friendly hosts Richard and Willhem. Definitely worth the wiggly roads to get there...we'll be back.

We stayed as a couple in the tent "La Jaima" - a brilliant alternative to your "normal" accommodation options in the area and it does indeed have everything you could wish for. We cooked almost every night in the little ktchenette and had everything we needed for it! It is hidden away from the other buildings and you definitely get...

The location and accommodations were amazing. Very convenient for hiking and relaxing. A little out of the way but peaceful and with a car not an issue. The breakfast was beautiful with an amazing selection every day.

We had three rooms; 2 in the stables & 1 in the main house. All was perfect, the property is very well kept & laid out so you can always find solitude or company depending upon your mood. The catalan donkeys by the pool were sweeties. We will return!

What a great treasure , nestled high in the hills, after making our way from Alicanti, of the beaten track, up unmade roads, Willem greeted us,and for the next 3 nights this was home from home, what lovely hosts, nothing was to much trouble, we were lucky to arrive on one of the nights Richard cooks for guests, that was a...

SSSSSSSSSSSH, did you hear something. It must have been the wind. About 15 km away of the Costa Blanca you will find peace and quietness in a form you wouldn't expect so closely to a very busy coastal region. No sounds of traffic, a gentle breeze and a lovely b&b in a green mountain area. The owners did a great...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Guesthouse Refugio Marnes, your rural holiday haven on the Costa Blanca. Arriving at Eco Lodge Refugio Marnes in Alicante, Spain, means going back in time, back to the basics of life. Sun, peace, wild nature and the ancient history of the hard Spanish farmlife. Refugio Marnes consists of a centuries old rural finca (estate) spanning 50 acres of agricultural land, situated in a our own private valley. The finca is named after the hamlet of Marnes, at about 500 meters altitude on a small mountain, the Sierra de Bernia in the hinterland of the Costa Blanca. We focus on offering ecotourism /sustainable tourism in a form that is unique in terms of location and design. Peace, spaciousness and original holiday accommodations on this estate situated on the Costa Blanca, you will find the trees so typical for this area: carob, olive and almond. The terraced structure of the terrain dates from the time of the Phoenicians! Three buildings are located on the finca: the old farmhouse where the owners live, the B&B wing Los Establos and a cottage called La Ruina. In addition, beautifully hidden in the countryside, the luxurious tent La Jaima, that defines the new term "glamping", meaning glamourous camping.Ecolodge, Guesthouse, B&B or Camping?Refugio Marnes is difficult to catch in one phrase. Would you like to share this wonderful place with us, for a peaceful holiday? Ecolodge Refugio Marnes offers three types of accommodations. Bed and Breakfast Los Establos housed in the completely renovated stables, has three lovely rooms with a shared spacious living / dining room. The luxuriously decorated tent La Jaima, a huge and beautifully designed Bedouin tent. And the holiday cottage La Ruina is a restored sheepfold designed for a terrific and comfortable stay. For more information about these different but highly original accommodations please visit the corresponding pages on this site. Focus on sustainability in the operation of this beautiful finca (rural tourism and agriculture) environmental sustainability has top priority. For example: the electricity is entirely generated by a large solar installation. During your stay you are free to use the lovely pool of Refugio Marnes. This emerald green tiled pool has been desgined to fit in with its Mediterranean setting. The water of the (11x 4.5 meters) swimming pool is ready to be recycled in winter (after treatment). Again, attention is given to the responsible use of an increasingly scarce good: water. Through the menu choice Sustainable tourism you can find out more about our views on sustainable tourism.Ecolodge Refugio Marnes, enjoying nature in comfortwith a clear conscience. ... more   less

“Sleeping in the tent was a good choice, lot's of privacy. The first two nights there was a fair bit of wind which kept us awake some time, fortunately the rest of the week was quiet. There is a possibility of cooking your own meal.”
