Oh dear what a disappointment. Being the only couple in the Restaurant should have told us something before we ordered. Fish & Chips had a very heavy batter, the mushy peas were a disgrace. The trout at £17 was not much better. Chose not to have a pudding where they charge £9 for a banana split. The only saving grace...

Hello, Thank you for leaving your comments. I will definitely take the comments on board as we are always looking to improve our customer experience. I will review the fish batter mix with the kitchen team. I understand about the flower but we do have them replaced fresh weekly. Hope you give us another try in future. Regards, Paul.

As a couple we decided to have a nice quiet meal at the Bear in Esher, we have eaten there many times before and always had good service and food, but on Monday this week we went early and arrived at 6.30 ish the place was pretty empty, so we found a table and were looking forward to a nice...

Hello, I find this a harsh criticism. There was absolutely nothing wrong with cooking of the stake or any components on the plate. One bite was taken from part of the steak and then sent back. It was cooked to the request. It is a very expensive ingredient and our chef treat it with care. When someone sends a steak...

PROS: Food is good and well-presented, staff polite and helpful, room was clean. CONS: WiFi intermittent, the "0" telephone number described as the "emergency number" on the room's handset was not manned on Sunday morning; neither was the hotel's main landline. The manager later intimated that this line is a "curtesy service". Rather expensive.

My partner and I were visiting Sandown race course for a business trip and chose The Bear to stay during our trip. We arrived and received a friendly greeting. The room was nice and having had a busy day we decided to have a drink in the bar. The bar provided a nice atmosphere and the menu looked enticing so...

Hello, Thanks for leaving some feed back. Sorry that your breakfast experience was not good. This is something that on the whole we do well. All our food is fresh and cooked and prepared daily, sometimes the suppliers cam let us down on delivery, apologies but I am glad that the staff recognised this. Eggcellent pun btw! Hope you give...

Warm welcome on arrival and bar very funky relaxed. Quick easy check in. Room not fab but clean and had necessary just very bland dull boring and very odd shape. Slept well but lights from street come through edges of curtains. Bath needs bathmatt as my friend slipped and fell there is a notice on back of door saying you...

Hi, I'm glad you got a warm welcome apologies about the cold breakfast! The reason we don't leave the matts in the bathroom are that they are a specific requirement hence the sign also. But I take your point about the positioning and location of the sign. Hope to see you at The Bear again. Regards, Paul.

Hello, It's unfortunate that noise from the bar disturbed you. Unfortunately the building is older and in certain places sound proofing not as good as it could be. This is specific to the person also though as we have many customers who are undisturbed. I would also mention that the music was loud as it was Friday night and was...

Warm welcome to The Bear. Efficient check-in process and shown to well appointed comfortable rooms. Card access to the rear of the hotel if you're fancying going out after the pub below has closed. Fresh milk in the fridge for tea/coffee - nice touch! Bar was quite expensive for beer £5.15 a pint! Menu was browsed but nothing grabbed our...

Hello, Thanks for the positive feed back. Glad you enjoyed breakfast and were dealt with efficiently. Regarding the £5.15 cost of a pint. This would have been Peroni, which is a premium lager and is our most expensive. We also offer other Lagers which start from £4.35. Real Ale's start from £3.90. Room 2- Yes you are right regarding the...

We recently went to The Bear for a Sunday roast. While my first two familiar places were fully booked I was glad to find The Bear could accommodate us. Having had such a wonderful meal with excellent service, The Bear will now be the first place I call. The pub is beautifully decorated with a real sense of the history...

Stayed here on Saturday 12th and can't fault it one bit. On arrival checked in with no fuss and shown to my very nice room by the Manager.
