We stayed at The Castle Inn this weekend as we were attending a wedding nearby. We were welcomed warmly on arrival and given the number of a fab local taxi operator, known as John (he's strongly recommended). We stayed in room five which, despite it being a Saturday night, was fairly quiet. The pub itself gets very busy indeed but...

This Inn was a great place for us to stay as it was close to Abergaveny, where we were Judging at the National Eisteddfod, When we arrive we were very pleasantly surprised at the flowers in the square where the Inn was situated. On entering the Listed building we were greeted by the receptionist at the bar and were taken...

We had booked for 5 people, including our guests, for Sunday lunch a few days beforehand and, on arrival, the inn was very quiet with few customers. We ordered from the set Sunday lunch menu. Sadly, our food was indifferent and without flavour with the overcooked "Sea Bass" not looking or tasting at all like sea bass. The waitress placed...

The room was ok the restaurant menu was presented in a dreadful way. We tried to eat locally but Usk was shut by 1500 hrs! We had no option but to eat in the Castle. Glad we did. The menu and presentation belie the quality. The standard of the food was what you would expect from an expensive restaurant. It...

I've used this hotel for a couple of years and always return when I'm in the area. Its no secret that over the last 12 months the hotel has had its fair share of problems so lets wipe the slate clean and start again. The business has new owners and a completely new ethos to customers. Matt is back in...

Stayed one night early December. Have stayed here before as it is convenient when visiting relatives in town. NOT staying here again. Management is NOT sorted, interested or visible. Not aware of our booking, room NOT OK, place neglected no restaurant, no breakfast, no service and no staff on duty in the morning when we departed. We let ourselves out!

Hotel has just changed hands and the new owner/manager Matt is doing an excellent job. We couldn't have asked for better service or more friendly reception. Rooms were comfortable, modern and clean. Thoroughly recommended.

Needed a nights accommodation to break up journey but didn't allow for Abergavenny food festival so hardly any rooms available. Looked nice from outside on web-site but didn't read reviews. Yes dirty, grubby, uncomfortable, incredibly poor service at breakfast. Never again/.

We booked well in advance, and the location is great - very central and easy to find parking. It is a set of rooms over a basic pub. They stated on arrival that the computer was down , and relied on our own piece of paper for confirmation. Apparently they were mid-way through a change in management. The staff were...
