The Globe Backpackers is simple accommondation (if you take the dorm) combined with a super guest friendly owner, named Maurice. He is a former full time sheep shearer, so we asked for a sheap shearing watching possibility and he organized a tour for us. So the next day we did the tour with him and it was amazing, he gave...

Great value for money in this old hotel in Riverton, The hosts were very friendly and gave us as a couple a large room with plenty of extra space. We did not hear the downstairs pub at all, which was a pleasant surprise.

We found Riverton because of the Swell, we stayed in Riverton because of great people we met. Staying at Globe Backpackers was so cool. It is definitely real "Southern" Charm right down to Maurice and Bas that run the place. It is a kiwi style bed and breakfast, comfy, clean, and they would go out of their way to make...

The Globe Hotel of Riverton is over 100 years old, and is a fine old structure. It is rustic both inside and out, with a faint aroma of dust in the air and creaky floorboards. We had booked a double – but wound up in a room with a double and two singles. My husband immediately claimed one of the...

Initially we wanted to stay for one night only, but we liked i so much that we stayed another night. Rooms are clean and the beds are very comfy and reasonably priced. Some rooms have a nice view over the water and the bar makes you feel like being at home around the corner. The kitchen is a huge old-style...

We stopped off in Riverton/ Aparima and stayed here at the Globe. The backpackers in the title may be a bit misleading as you are staying in an old school 1880s pub. Anyway, everyone is made to feel invited here. There was a pool competition on the night we were there and the locals all made us feel very welcome...

My boyfriend and I along with another couple stayed here for one night in Jan 2012. We decided to stay in Riverton on our way to Te Anau, instead of a night in Invercargill... best decision ever. Despite The Globe's website lacking pictures of the rooms when we booked, which made us dubious about what we would find on check...
