Pakse is a large city that serves as a staging post for most travellers in southern Laos. As such the city is mainly a sprawling ribbon development with no great attractions other than its location. Le Jardin is a reasonably priced hotel that is used as a stopover by travellers. It’s principal attractions are the pool in the garden and the incredible staff service. The rooms are well furnished and maintained, breakfast is freshly cooked and WiFi is good throughout. Every evening the hotel minibus ferries guests who don’t want to eat locally to the downtown restaurant area. The free service leaves the hotel at 7 and returns at 9.
I loved staying at Le Jardin. It’s in a quiet area but there is stuff to walk to and they take you into town in the evenings and pick you up for free. Even if you take a tuk tuk it’s about $4 US so cheap and worth it to stay here. The owner and staff are amazing, the breakfast is super good, and the pool, patio, and grounds are peaceful to spend time in and around. As I write this I am sitting in the shade on the patio listening to the birds chirp. They ordered lunch for me from a local place that has awesome pad Thai and fried rice. I can’t say enough nice things about this place it’s an oasis in Pakse, which is otherwise doesn’t have much going on (but it’s the gateway to the Bolaven Plateau and 4000 islands!).
If you don't like vast concrete edifices and impersonal service, good accommodation is a little hard to find in Pakse. Le Jardin is the exception - a perfectly run boutique hotel with a nice pool and comfortable rooms. The owner, Ms Noi, is an absolute gem who could not do enough for us before, during and after our stay. Ms Noi organised our car from Ubon Ratchathani to the Four Thousand islands in the week before our stay at Le Jardin and personally drove us (for a reasonable fee) from Pakse to Ubon airport at the end of our stay. This made crossing the border both ways at Chong Mek a breeze, where it could otherwise have been quite confusing. The shuttle service to the centre of town works perfectly and it took us on Ms Noi's recommendation to the panoramic rooftop of the Pakse Hotel for dinner, which is an absolute must for its spectacular views and great, well priced food. Thank you again Ms Noi, you really made our trip to southern Laos a very special one indeed.…
We traveled to Pakse and stayed one night at LJ, left our luggage with them while doing a river cruise, and then stayed again at LJ for a few more nights. The hotel is new and very nice. It's outside of the city center, but they provide transport any time you want it (or arrange for it). They even booked one of their drivers for the afternoon so that we could go to Champasak for the day. The pool is lovely and a nice break from the heat. The rooms are not fancy but are clean and simply furnished. The staff could not be more polite and helpful. Breakfast was simple and tasty.
We stayed here two nights on our way back from Don Det. The property is quite nice and we loved having the pool to cool off in. Breakfast was good and everyone on staff was friendly and helpful. We took advantage of the shuttle to “town” for dinner and this was necessary as there’s really nothing nearby. We walked to the mall in search of lunch food and had a hard time finding much to eat. But it was a nice stop on our travels and we can recommend it if you’re in Pakse for a short stay
