I was there one week in April. first impressions were like every one else here: wow. 30h trip from Scandinavia was well worth it. –specially, because the sea was still frozen when we left from home. We chose this place mainly because of its size and opinions here, so we knew what to expect: "big" island and other people. The... More

Have just returned from Sun Island 3rd April. It was VERY hot! We were a little disappointed with the standard of our room on our arrival. It really was only just about 4* accommodation. It is definitely worth paying the small amount extra for a Superior Deluxe Rooms however. They have direct access to the beach which was the redeeming... More

Together with my girlfriend, we were at Sun Island between 15/3 and 23/3. After reading all the reports and basing our hotel choise on them, i felt it would be at least ungrateful for this site not to post owr own review here. Overall, we had an excellent time at Sun Island. We followed all tips given here, and i... More

My husband and I spent 4 nights here as part of our honeymoon after a fantastic but exhausting 10 days touring Sri Lanka. There seem to be a few debates raging amongst reviewers so I thought I'd add my tuppence worth. Water bungalows - ours was fantastic. Cleaned twice a day, spacious and modern, our only gripe was the Internet... More

Well, my first piece of advice has to be, if you are debating whether or not to go to the Maldives like we were, just GO! Go to Sun Island..... The Maldives is obviously not the cheapest destination in the world, but this holiday was worth every penny. We went on 19th March for one week All Inclusive and loved... More

Let's face it: most of the reviews here were written by honeymooners or once-in-a-lifetime travelers... so, I guess, no matter what: they were happy!!! For a frequent traveller who knows both backpack and luxury hotels... Sun Island is very far from luxury. What no one seems to notice is that Sun Island Resort offers Motel type accomodation (though a nice... More

This was our first visit to the Maldives and perhaps our expectations were just too high. We are not divers just snorkel people and the only place worth swimming was indeed the back of the Italian Restaurant along with everyone else of course. We upgraded to a water bungalow, (cheaper on arrival than the brochure price, due to our room... More

Got back from Sun Island last week (20th) after being there for one week. As we have been to the maldives before we decided not to upgrade to a seaplane and take the speed boat instead, unfortunately it took 3 hours to get to the island but didnt spoil the holiday. Taking the speedboat back was good as you could... More

We have just returned from our first visit to the Maldives and WOW!! Paradise found! We stayed in a deluxe bungalow which was cleaned twice a day, they even turn back the bed for you at night. Fresh towels daily and bottles of water. We tried the italian restuarant on our last night there, it was nice but the food... More

We loved this place! Pure white sand, crystal clear waters, baby sharks and my lovely boyfriend. We stayed in the Beach bungalow for a week and then upgraded to Water villa. The hotel was worth what we paid for. The service was good and the rooms were clean and basic, but we didn’t mind because we were always out cycling,... More
