Simple but very apt accommodation in this wonderful setting. Decor rustic but authentic. Wildlife all around and georgeous beaches, saw several whales breaching. Lovely restaurant with friendly staff on site.

We spend 2 nights in this self catering property. It is well furnished in a cottage style with huge bedroom. Each cottage is arranged so you are completely secluded. There is every thing you need for your outdoor experience. There is a restaurant on site which serves meals should you want to do so. If you wish to self cater bring...

The reserve is wonderful, you can see the antilopes in front of your cottage in the mornings, watch zeebras, ostrichs, birds.... We were unlucky and had a lot of rainfall but still enjoyed the place, walked quite a lot, the kids enjoyed the immense space around the cottages. the cottage itself had a charming atmosphere of the last century. De Hoop is truly a place that settles in your soul. It's been less than a week since I left and back in the hurly burly of city life I find myself returning in my mind to the beauty and tranquility of this special place near the tip of Africa on the Indian Ocean. We stayed at Melkkamer with the...

I wish we had stayed here at least one more night. The setting is spectacular. Our cottage, complete with two bedrooms, a kitchen and dining/living room with fireplace, had a porch where Cape Spurfowl visited us in the morning. The cottages are set on a hill above a lake where you can view pelicans and other waterfowl. The food in...

Our first visit to de hoop with our friends from Dublin. The park is awesome. Unrivaled views. Good whale sighting from kopie eleen. Terrific birding. Saw cape eagle owl and rock kestrel plus many others. The vlei was full of water which had attracted a huge variety of birds. We did a morning bird walk with a guide. She was...

This is our second trip to De Hoop in as many years. To get to the point, the reserve is remote and access is not super easy. The rooms are rustic (read, not overly luxurious). So why the 4 star rating? Because the views are spectacular and the staff at the reserve are outstanding. Because you will feel miles away...

Stayed in the Foreman Cottage, it was lovely to see what it was like to not have power until after sunset. We enjoyed using gas lighting and cooking. The guides were amazing - we had Dickson and Dalfrenzo and they were great. Beach was amazing and we saw loads of whales! The river was full of lots of bird life...

A really lovely place to stay! We stayed for 3 nights in Opstal cottages (Giant Kingfisher). The cottage was extremely comfortable and well equipped.
