I have visited Borrowdale frequently and always wanted to stay at the Bridge Hotel. This winter I had such an opportunity. The area is outstanding and the beautiful winter weather made it complete. You need to walk, climb or canoe as there is little else to do unless you are a keen photographer, as the scenery is stunning. The hotel...

Just come back from 2 nights stay and have to say that we had a really lovely time there. The room was great with a four poster bed. The food was excellent (we eat in the bar area) and the staff were so friendly and helpful. They really made us feel very welcome. The best part was the lounge where...

A very peaceful and relaxed historic hotel with helpful staff. Lakeside and hill walks abound on all sides. Interesting food and beers and good to get away from town hustle bustle and television for a few days.

We visited this weekend (4th &5th November) for two nights for a family wedding. We ate in the restaurant on both nights too. The staff throughout the venue were exceptionally accommodating, patient and genuinely cared. With first hand experience in the industry I completely understand how testing large groups can be, but nothing was too much trouble. A special mention...

What a fantastic find! The staff were all very accommodating and friendly and we felt very welcome, including our Jack Russell. The food was excellent, both in the restaurant and the bar. Breakfasts were particularly delicious with a variety of choices. Dog owners should bear in mind that whilst dogs are permitted in most of the hotel, they are not...

This was our second short stay at this lovely hotel. Our welcome was warm and friendly. Our first floor double bedded room overlooking the river, was clean warm commodious and well equipped, although I yearn for a hotel, (or a B & B for that matter), that provided proper mugs for a coffee or tea rather that delicate taster cups!...

We stayed here for five nights with our dog and really could not fault it. All the staff were exceptionally helpful and accommodating, the food was excellent and the room very comfortable as was the lounge. The walking around here ranges from gentle to challenging and the views are as glorious as anywhere in the Lakes

Stayed here for a weekend and it’s a really nice hotel. I ended up in 2 different rooms as I booked late but both were really nice. Both were doubles and one had a small balcony with chairs and a table on it. The second one was next to the stream and it’s a lovely sound to hear when you...

It was our first stay here last weekend (3 nights half board), although we had used the public bar previously. Our stay was memorable. Part of a group with disparate needs and lengths of visit, celebrating a "big" birthday. Nothing was too much trouble. Really nice, attentive staff, pleasant accommodation, excellent food, great company and unseasonably warm October weather. What...
