Idiot on the line told me that there were rooms available and then asked if it was for a family. When he came to know it was an unmarried couple he quickly changed his earlier submission of rooms being available. Instead he suggested I book another home stay which he would recommend. When I questioned the change in his stance he cut the call.
Scenic location of the resort. Staff is very friendly and will give you a homely feeling. Rooms are pretty decent and clean. Every night they lit up the bonfire, as the climate is pretty cold there. They provide basic homely food, but nice and nutritious. We were on Jain diet, they took extra efforts to cook Jain for us. Do not expect anything fancy or luxurious, but basics all in place. The only thing to consider - resort is located a bit inside like 10-12 kms. The approach road is not so great.
While visiting Cherrapunji one should try to go to above Resort. Place of relaxation and comfort. Good location for photography as background is very good.In restaurant enjoyed food which was very tasty
We were a big group from Australia & the UK that stayed here for 3 nights as our base in Meghalaya. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Wonderful staff, delicious food and a talented bunch of staff who also provide entertainment in the evening. It's a great base for tours to the root bridges and the dawki river. You can relax in the evenings after a day.of touring. We used the services of a brilliant & most honest driver named Raju Das. He picked us up from Guwahati Airport and took us around Guwahati - Shillong - Cherrapungi - Guwahati. Highly recommended. Book him through Shakti Travels (Deepa Subramanian firstname.lastname@example.org)
Seemed like one of the better places to stay. However when I called them to inquire about the booking process etc, the lady on the phone started asking all sorts of questions about my relationship status with my partner. When I informed her that we're not Married, she refused to accept the booking and said that they only entertain married couples. Highly discriminatory, extremely conservative especially when Indian law allows couples to live together. Have never faced anything like this anywhere else.
