quite far from cherrapunjee city, but it is worth traveling..just for the best hospitality and awesome staff. most of the staff catering to the visitors are female and very vry well behaved and courteous...the owners themselves look after all the visitors personally and that makes all the difference.

Dear Sir, Thanks for your Four Star Rating and the Review. The Resort is built in my wife's village which is located on the top of Scenic Laitkynsew Ridge overlooking the valley between the Cherrapunjee Plateau and Laitkynsew Hill. It was a sleepy village 23 years back. We wanted to usher in development and employment to our rural youth through this endeavour. At that time, there was not a single place for tourists to stay in the entire Cherrapunjee area. That explains the distance of 15 km from Cherrapunjee town. The Living Root Bridges including the Double Decker Root Bridges were named and promoted by us when we started developing, mapping and promoting trekking routes. Our idea was to promote the place as a place to experience the monsoon, enjoy the scenic beauty of the place - you can see at least 18 waterfalls from the Resort itself during the monsoon season, short walks around the area and develop trekking routes through the mountains, valleys and rivers for activity holidays in the dry winter months. It is endeavour to train our rural youth to be able to provide the services so that they can employ themselves gainfully. It is our desire to expose our youth to people from all over the world so that they gain skills, gain confidence and are able to go and work anywhere and build up the area with their entrepreneurial skills. In Khasi society, the women manage the small shops. eateries that are usually attached to their homes, thereby enabling them to manage their household tasks and gainfully engaging in economic activity on the side. We took this model to empower our young women to manage the Resort, while the men are given more physically demanding work. Thanks for your keen observations.

I had stayed for a day in the Cherrapunji Holiday Resort and it's among the cleanest and serenest place I've been to. Far removed from the maddening city traffic and crowd, this place offers solace to one's soul yearning for peace, warmth and nature. Heavily recommend this place for the amazing views, great hospitality and the goodness of nature that surrounds this wonderful place.

Dear Sir, Thank you very much for your Five Star Rating and great review. We are very happy that you had enjoyed your stay at our place and liked it. We have almost completed sixteen spacious rooms (over 360 sq. feet each) having an unhindered view of the 3000 feet deep valley where clouds drift through lazily during the monsoon months and can see over 18 waterfalls from the room itself. We are creating more spacious common areas so guests can come as family groups and enjoy good enough space for gathering together. We have created more multi level viewing areas and sit outs and have developed the garden. We shall look forward to your coming again and to recommend our place to your family and friends. Stayed for two nights with twenty other senior citizens. The old block has 5 rooms on the ground floor opening straight into the dining space - spacious but not too luxurious. Two annexes built subsequently are more luxurious and equally spacious. There is no provision for a lift - so the annexes are not suitable for the physically challenged. The staff, all ever smiling ladies, are extremely courteous and helpful. The breakfast and dinner buffets are simple but tasty - since the owner is a South Indian, the breakfast has a south Indian touch. Strongly recommended.

Dear Sir, Thanks for your Review and the Four Star Rating. We appreciate it. We have almost completed sixteen more spacious rooms (over 360 sq. feet each) with more common areas where groups and families travelling together can spend time together and interact comfortably. These rooms are being provided with large plane glass windows with an unhindered view of the valley in front that is 3000 feet deep, through which during the monsoon season clouds drift lazily and one can enjoy the sight of over 18 waterfalls. We intend to add the area of the 5 rooms in the old block to the Dining Hall to dine more guests at a time after the new block is added. Out of 23 Rooms that the Room Inventory will become, we will provide Ramp access to 15 Rooms. We are not planning provision of lifts at the property considering lack of maintenance support within reasonable distance. Our Chefs are home makers. We want the food to be suitable for our long staying guests from all over the world. We try to balance the dishes provided with a choice of dishes for Indians from the North and the South and some continental dishes too. We looked forward to serve you, your family and friends circle and help them to enjoy a Nature Holiday in one of the most scenic places in the world. Thanks a Million.

Dear Sir / Madam, Thanks for your review and three star rating. Our Resort is sitting on the top of the only ridge that runs parallel to Cherrapunjee Plateau and one gets to see over 18 waterfalls flowing off from the plateau during the monsoon season. The Resort is facing a 3000 feet valley on one side and the flat plains of Bangladesh on the other. On the drive down to the Resort during monsoon season we can see over 3 dozen waterfalls. The place is very scenic and we have developed many treks around the place. We had named and promoted the Living Root Bridges including the Double Decker Root Bridge that have become one of the main attractions of Meghalaya. You can take bath in waterfalls and in cold water springs during the monsoon season and do many short and long treks, adventure caving and river canyoning during winter. To enable you to enjoy a Nature Holiday and to enable families to have better interaction with each other, we have purposely provided TV only in the Lobby and not in the Rooms. People spend quality time with their spouses and children without the distraction of watching TV channels and repeating the same ambiance at home. Many people appreciate the non-provision of TV in the Rooms. This is an enterprise by a husband and wife team, where the husband is from Tamil Nadu and wife is from Meghalaya. That is why the Tamil language.
