Some of the must see sights in Meghalaya are about same distance from Shillong and Sohra. Our decision to base ourselves in Sohra was dictated by frightening traffic in Shillong. Cherrapunjee Holiday Resort turned out to be a great choice. This pocket friendly place offers basic comforts and really great service. The owner Mr. Denis Ryan is always around and ever ready to oblige and provide guidance. The place is located at the edge of a small village with friendly people.
We had lunch at this place though we didn't stay here.. The food was awesome and delicious.. Especially, the rasam is amazing.. We ordered a thali/meals which costs around 250/- but worth it. The rice is unlimited. You don't get curd and that could be a drawback.. The place is centrally located and might be good for stay as well.. They also serve ice creams. Not a lot of flavours you get but the taste is good..
The Cherrapunji Holiday Resort run by Mr Justin Dennis and his family is the best value for money place at Cherrapunji. Not only is the place affordable it also well maintained and has the most amazing staff and the food is just what you need after a long day of trek and travel
Great experience staying with my family of 3 at the Cherrapunji holiday home. Nice cosy rooms, good property with garden and terrace area. Well maintained, clean with friendly and professional team. Tasty, hygienic food. Love the place!!!
This hotel is the closest you can get to being in the heart of the mountains and jungles, while being on top of one, with a fantastic view of everything around you. I came here to stay as close as I could to the living root bridges. The rooms are simple but very clean. The food was great, the staff; extremely accommodating and kind. If you're looking for an eco-adventure and a nature-filled weekend, staying here is your best bet. Coming from Delhi, the hotel arranged a taxi to pick me up at the airport for a 5 hour drive to their resort (great scenery and totally worth the travel time). Being female and traveling alone, it was also perfectly safe and pleasant. The hotel is actually near another root bridge that's less of a tourist focal point and I thought this one (Umkar…
It's 15 KM away from Cherrapunjee through the jungle and actually located in Laitkynsew village. They offer great foods but little expensive. It's a small place with view from one side only. The linens could have been better, rooms and furniture need revamping. There's a playroom for kids. There is no TV in rooms. Network in the area is poor and the so-called resort does not provide WiFi. But if you just get bored in the maddening city life and just want to relax, you can come here, sleep-eat and repeat and just relax.
We stayed for two nights and three days. Surrounding is excellent. Peaceful environment.view from room and terras is extraordinary. You can see many waterfalls and clouds in valley. Everywhere greeneary. Resort staff very helpful and ready to make your comfortable. Food is great. Good embience. For children lots of activities they not bore. Mr. Denish run this resorts with love. Rooms are clean and spacious. Every day there is a cultural show. They also guide for local trekking and tour. I will visit again.
During Feb, i have visited the place. The location of resort is very beautiful. The staffs were co-operative and the evening programme can give you the local flavor. To visit the place you must have one car with you. If you have time, u can see root bridge by tracking.
Almost Bangladesh!! Yeah you get to see amazing view of Bangladesh from its top. But this hotel is only for people who takes Treck to Double root bridge. Otherwise it is an extra hour of travel. But if you want to visit root bridge, natural pools. Hats off to this. Don't expect fancy rooms but they will give you an experience not to forget.
I called up directly and booked just a couple of days in advance. Right from first day, this resort was different. The hotel staff kept me updated about the booking and called called us as we are a bit late to reach. The location can be a bit tricky but our ola driver knew where it was. We reached there and had the excellent dinner that was served. The morning really showed how beautiful the hotel and it’s surrounding is. The views of Bangladesh plains and the hills of Meghalaya from the hotel us just breath taking. Had the best cooked breakfast in the morning and left for trekking to the living root bridges. Thank you Denise and the entire team for coming up with such a lovely resort and a remote location of North East.
