Difficult to review this property. It's around 16 KM away from main road - drive is good. Actually old hotel is in One Hall - consisting of Rooms, Reception, Restaurant, Buffet - everything is in same place. We have been upgraded to different place and it was really very good place to stay. The owner Mr Ryane is an amazing person and with really hard work he developed this property and new wing is under construction and my be ready to open in very near future and I am sure once it happens - the property will be awesome. But team and food is remarkable and they don't give you any opportunity to complain us in any way.

Dear Mr,Bhupendraj, Thank you for staying at our property, and for taking the time to write a review! We are glad to know that you enjoyed the service & food served. Thank you for appreciating our staff. They are men and women from surrounding villages whom we have trained. They are simple, sincere & dedicated to what they do. Our property is located 15kms away from Cherrapunjee town (30 min drive), closer to several Living Root Bridges of this region, including Double Decker Root Bridge. From our hilltop property, one can see the mountains on one side, an idlic Laitkynsew village below and the plains of Bangladesh on another side. We have created 2000+ sq feet of terrace & open spaces for our guests to enjoy the scenery. As you might have already seen, we are working on completion of rooms in a new block. The new rooms will be more spacious, have modern interiors & furnishings. And to increase the dining capacity, we will be doing away with the current Standard & Deluxe Rooms (near the dining area) and converting them into dining space. Hence these 6 rooms, (with which we started our entrepreneurial operations 23 yrs ago) will be around for just a few more months. In case you visit Cherrapunjee again in future, we will be glad to host you again as you enjoy your stay in our new valley view rooms!

Should not have high expectations with this old property. Online image of even their premium room was superb but reality was different. Food menu was limited BUT it was tasty and homely. We reached there late at night after a long journey, and were expecting welcoming behaviour from the front desk, which was missing BUT the staff in the morning was completely opposite, they were smiling, Courteous and helpful( Thanks Florence) Property is very spacious and providing cycles to the kids Expecting much more.

Yes, our property is 23 years old and we do keep regular maintenance of all the buildings and the recent additions the Premium Rooms and the up coming Valley View Rooms are one notch above the existing Rooms. 2. The images of the Rooms provided in the Website are exactly the same as they are. There is no manipulation of the Images. We are sorry if that has not met your expectations. 3. Our Staff are trained to be polite and welcoming. I shall discuss this with all our Reception and Support Staff. 4. Our Buffet Vegetarian Dinner has 16 items. If any one wishes to order any non-vegetarian dishes they can order it separately as per menu. Our Buffet Breakfast has 9 items. 5. We promote the place as a Eco Resort with many walks and treks around this place. The Resort is perched on the top of Laitkynsew hill overlooking a 3000 feet deep valley streaked by over 18 waterfalls during the monsoon season. The View from the property itself is breathtaking. We do not provide TVs in the Rooms with a purpose. It provides an opportunity to families to interact with each other and bring them more closer. Many appreciate that. 6. We have provided Wifi thru Airtel Internet Leased Line with good download and upload speed. We appreciate that there is always room to grow and improve. We always try to keep up our efforts to better our facilities and Standards on a continuous basis.

The property seem 2 b gud on net......the hotel lobby seem 2 b a local room place The staff is so arrogant that they feel that they r doing favour on us. The food is not fresh ..... It has lot of smell in the oil what was use, when got in their notice they say it's made in refined oil. The room doesn't has A/c...niether the wify was working... Feel so cheated .....so out the concern don't want anyone else 2 b cheated. Overall not worth for the money . Waste of money .kids are very unsatisfied as there is no Tv also in room no recreational activities .lots of regard , mosquito,insects no ventilation in room...... Dear Mr.Vikrant, Thank for your one Star Rating and scathing review. We appreciate your sharing it. 1. We accept that our Rooms have no AC. We have not claimed anywhere that we are providing AC Rooms. This year had been a very unusual year in the months of April and May because of low rainfall. Rainfall during these months were only 30% of the normal - 855 mm and 1300 mm the average rainfall here for April and May 2023. In the last 25 years, we have not seen a year like this. This time of the year when the rains are in place, it is very pleasant and sometimes cool enough to require wearing of warm woollen clothes. We will consider the changing weather and shall take appropriate action. 2. Originally our place had only 6 Rooms and the Common Lobby was used for recreation, getting together and for dining. With only 6 Rooms and care in accepting any guests who wish to stay with us, it was bringing the Guests together unlike in most other places that guests are totally disconnected from each other. Many appreciate it. As the place is growing, our Architect has made plans for a new Dining and Kitchen area. This will be taken up after we complete the new building housing 16 large spacious Rooms overlooking a scenic valley. Once we inaugurate the same, the current Deluxe and Standard Rooms along with the common Lobby will used for Dining purposes till the new Dining Area is completed. 3. Our Staff are all trained to be polite and responsive to Guest needs. They are simple but earnest people from our surrounding villages. There could have been some communication gap. Our idea is to engage our youth from our surrounding villages and empower them to be able to provide high quality service and it is being appreciated and noticed by many of our Guests as can be seen from many reviews in Trip Advisor and Google and in our Website too - the Reviews given at the Resort. I am sorry if there has been any misgivings on this account and I will take it up with our Staff. 4. We do not compromise on the quality of food. Every day fresh food is served and no leftovers are reused. We do use good quality refined oil. I have brought your observation to our Chefs and extra care has been advised to be taken with respect to the quality of food. 5. As told earlier, here the Climate is very pleasant throughout the year. This year had been unusually warm in the months of April and May due to much less rain. Appropriate action will be taken if the Climate Change demands provision of AC. 6. We have Airtel Internet Leased Line and our outlay for providing Internet in this remote area is Rs.2.00 Lacs per year. They have been normally steady but during the last month we had issues on many days when the Internet went down for one reason or the other from the side of Airtel. We take up any Link down issues immediately with their Gurgaon office and locally. These are remote locations unlike established cities. There are issues even to large Service Providers to overcome. When we are trying to urge in development to these undeveloped areas, we do have to face many challenges and hurdles to overcome. When you come from large Cities, it will be good if you can appreciate this. 7. We purposely do not provide TV in the Rooms. This is one of the ways to get the families to cultivate more closer ties amongst themselves and talk and share with each other. TVs have taken away the close interactions within the family and each family member is in his / her own island. The place is beautiful, the hills are inviting to go out on walks in this scenic terrain and we have developed many treks to engage yourselves and get close to nature. If people do not come out of their closed worlds and start to explore what nature can give them, they will miss much in their lives. 8, We thank you for sharing your feelings. It will certainly help others to understand and appreciate what to expect from places like ours and how to enjoy their holidays in scenic mountain locales. It is all in one's perspective. We can see great things in this place and value the peace and serenity in places like this. We feel blessed to be in this place.

We went there in the first week of May 2023, we reached there mid afternoon. The staff were extremely welcoming and homely. The property is located with scenic beauty on both sides of the well thought of terrace designed to capture the view. One side we can see the hills of Cherrapunji on the other the plains of Bangladesh. The evening was filled with a surprise entertainment from the local band. The food was also very thoughtfully made keeping in mind the sensitivities of vegetarians and they had a options for non veg eaters as well. Special shoutout to the owners and their family who made us feel so welcomed. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for the true experience of being one with the locals.

Stayed in this property on April 20 and 21. We had booked a premium room (Rm no.8), which has a partial view of the valley and villages. Sleep quality and washroom were good. They have power backup. They serve veg food for breakfast and dinner. You may add a non-veg item at extra charges. The behavior of the staff and manager was polite. They are helpful. The rooftop is a nice place to see a 360-degree views.

Dear Sir, Thank you for your giving us a 3 Star Rating and Review. The new block housing 16 Rooms that will have unrestricted Valley View should be in place by the end of this year. The Buffet Breakfast and Dinner are Pure Vegetarian. We have a separate Non-Veg Kitchen and you are always welcome to place order for Non-Veg dishes. The Breakfast serves 9 items and Dinner serves 16 items. The Resort is perched on the top of Laitkynsew hill and commands a scenic view of the Valley which has more than 18 waterfalls in the monsoon season and the plains of Bangladesh. Our Staff who are all from the Villages around and Sohra town are eager to make the guests feel welcome and to take care of their stay comfort. We had taken a premium room. We had taken 3 rooms as we were 6 adults. To start with the pillows were very hard. The hotel switch off the lights to save on electricity at about 12 am to 5 am. There is no a/c in the rooms. The food has very limited variety and not great. We had taken breakfast/high tea and dinner. If you don't like the tea and if you tell them to improvised, they say charges are extra. Even if you tell them about nan Or roti to be provided in wheat, then they say it will be charged extra. The persons serving buffet does not understand English or Hindi as they are local aged womans. I recommend not to go there. I give them 1 star rating.

Dear Sir, Thank you for your review. I am sorry for your unfortunate experience. 1. The pillows are from a reputed company. If you had requested for some softer pillows, we could have arranged it for you. 2. We have provided standby Battery Inverter Power Supply and Generator Power too in case the Power from the Grid fails. During the month of April and May we get severe thunderstorms which causes transformer burn outs and failure of electric gadgets because when lightning strikes the transmission lines there is a surge in power of thousands of volts . When such instances occur the Power Grid people switch off power supply and restore power supply after the storm passes away. Since we have battery back up, power is not an issue at all at the Resort. Certainly, we are not trying to save money by switching off Power Supply. 3. We accept that we do not have A/C in our Rooms. The Max temperature hardly gets beyond 30 degree Celsius for 7 days or so in a year. We position ourselves as an Eco-Resort in serene natural surroundings populated by friendly people. If need be we shall consider provision of A/Cs in the Rooms in the future. 4. I am sorry for your experience wrt your masala tea and Wheat based Roti or Naan that had happened due to one of our inexperienced service staff when I had gone to attend the Maundy Thursday Service in the Church . After you had given your feedback to me on the next day morning, I had an interactive session with all our Staff and explained to them on this account so that any such incident does not occur in the future. We have also taken a call that special masala Tea will be provided to one and all in the buffet. 5. We brought this work to this village, because this village is very scenic sitting atop Laitkynsew Hill overlooking a 3000 feet deep valley where during the monsoon over 18 large waterfalls drain into the valley thereby creating a mesmerisizing sight and the flat plains of Bangladesh stretches to the horizon on the other side thereby providing a great contrast. We have promoted many Nature Walks and Treks around this place, named and promoted the Living Root Bridges including the Double Decker Root Bridges which attract hundreds of people every day. It is our endeavour to engage our local people to empower them to make a good living for themselves and help move the society forward. Usually our village people are able to communicate well in English and they are not comfortable in Hindi. Normally I am around or one of Reception Staff helps out if there is any confusion in communication. We do get people from across the World and the Service Staff are able to attend to the Guests comfortably. The House Keeping and Clearance Staff may not be able to communicate well in English and they usually will refer any Guests wanting to communicate to the Reception or Service Staff. If you look at the whole issue as an individual who is helping to take forward our own people to a better life and empowering them to move forward economically and socially your holiday would have been much richer than the small material comforts that you feel you had not got at our place and that would have impaled into the background. 6. We have seamless check-in experience. Stuffs are dedicated to make your stay comfortable, so is the owner. Room has all the facilities required, including the tea/coffee maker, even they gave us electric heater as we were feeling a bit cold. Cleanliness is awesome. Fresh set of towels and bed linens were provided, bathroom is sanitized and clean. Sleep quality is good, however in morning (near 7:00 Am) we heard the noise from the roof, as they have open air rooftop breakfast arrangement and it seems, someone was dragging the table/chairs. Location wise, we don't find that great, especially most of the attraction is towards Shora, which is additional 30 mins ride by car, the only closest attraction was double tier living root bridge. Although view from the resort, especially from the roof of the breakfast area is awesome. We went through a package, and thus the car and guide were arranged by them, which I would recommend almost everybody. The all-inclusive vegetarian food was included, however we found food is average and we didn't like that much, breakfast spread is not that great. Dinner also we didn't like and most of the prep we found very bland and less salty. In fact, we went to Jiva Grill for one day dinner and found that was much more palatable to our taste. overall our stay was average, and had a great expectation based on the reviews, however especially food wise it was disappointing.…

Dear Mr.Saptarshi Kundu, Thank you very much for your honest review of our property, based on your stay with us in January 2023. Thank you for appreciating the facilities we offer. You rightly mentioned that our property is located, 30 mins away from Sohra/Cherrapunjee town closer to the Double Decker Root Bridge & other Living Root Bridges of this area. Sightseeing locations are spread across Cherrapunjee, hence where ever one stays, some tourist spots may be closer and others further away. Our property is among those with good views-- on one side it the mountains, on another side its the view of the village below and on the third side its the view of the Bangladesh plains. We have created 2000+ sq ft of terrace space for guests to enjoy these views, apart from arranging activities like live music, campfires and an interesting morning walk. We are sorry that food during your stay was not to your liking. This looks like the period when incidentally, our head chef was on leave. We thank you for your feedback; we shall take care to train the other cooks to bring them up to standard. Thank you very much for taking the time and effort to write this constructive review, Sir. Stayed here recently while on a short visit to Cherrapunjee and loved every moment spent here. The place is literally in the lap of nature, the rooms are cozy and clean and quite spacious. The staff was friendly, served with a smile and patiently answered all our queries about the main sight seeing spots around Cherrapunjee. The food was another highlight- the breakfast especially had a delicious range of items from dosas to grilled sandwiches. We ate on the terrace and it was literally a 5-star experience with a view of the mountains. The owner Mr Rayan and his wife have really invested a lot of their lives in making this place a great holiday experience for all travellers! We regretted having stayed only for a night and will definitely want to go back here!
