Nice place. Very warm hospitality from not only the staffs but also from the owner. Food was also hot and good in taste. Thank you all - will definitely comeback in future. One of the best places to stay in Cherrapunje. Nice view from the front side of the resort.

We stayed at the property in a standard room for 2 nights in the 1st week of May. While the property and rooms are decent, what made it comfortable was the friendly atmosphere - not the typical hotel/resort kind, but more of a team, who are all locals from the area, doing the best in their own way. The standard room is decent and apparently older, but quite clean. It has a king bed with attached bathroom. There is also a tea/coffee making unit in the room. While standard rooms are in the same building as the reception and dining area, the new rooms are in separate blocks. There are 2 terraces to enjoy the views of the valley, mountains (with waterfalls) as well as the plains (Bangladesh). Every evening, around 7 pm, there is live music by a team of enthusiasts with a mix of Khasi, English and Hindi songs. The complimentary dinner is served around 8 pm, just towards the end of the music performance. Mr Dennis also gave an overview of the region and the culture. Breakfast is served around 7.30 am. All food at the property is vegetarian. While the food buffet is limited, it was exactly what we wanted - homely style, tasty food and it had a mix both local and other influences. They have a running kitchen during the rest of the day with a fixed menu. Try the pakoras on a rainy/cold evening :). Thanks to Mr Dennis, his daughter Angela, their family, friends and all folks part of the team for the lovely stay. Also to the boy (I missed his name) who helped us with luggage and who also sets up the camp fire in the evenings. There is no good network/internet access - which is infact great :). The hotel also helped us with Nongriat trek - providing pointers on itinerary, arranging vehicle to drop/pick and also the guide Mr. Frederick who guided us during the trek. And another point wherein the hotel helped us is by referring us to the driver brothers Bah Shim and Jay Shim for travel needs. Both of them are calm and good drivers - keeping to speed limits, no overtaking etc. We took their services for all our transport needs later on.

One of our best stays in years of travel journeys. This resort gets you emotionally connected with the place and people. We (couple) went there from Shillong Airport on 4th March and checked out on 6th March. We extended our stay for a day just for the comfort and excellent services provided by the hotel staffs. They provide a guided morning walk to the nearest village free of cost which is an experience by itself. The hotel has a terrific view of sunset from the terrace and is surrounded by many waterfalls. A very well maintained garden of lovely flowers, a swing and an open terrace to chill. Food was fantastic. Breakfast buffet was quite elaborate, same with dinner. They also arrange for a musical program every evening by a local band, which was quite entertaining. On Sundays, the hotel staff performs for the guests, which was equally good. Mostly run by the young girls (Kongs), who are very well trained on how to give great services to the guests. We met Angella and her family who was running the hotel in her father's absence. Never seen the kings without a smile. They also arranged for an excellent driver Buntein, for local sight seeing. While leaving we really felt like leaving your own family. A place to come back again and again.

Its actually should not be called a resort. Don't expect any resort like facility yet. Its the best place to stay if you want to trek to double decker living root bridge. Food was good, rooms were neat but very basic. Evening they arranged for bonfire and musical performance . Staff were friendly and helpful.

nicely located at the edge of the village this hotel offers good rooms with an excellent hot water system in the bathrooms (not a given in the Northeast!). Very friendly team that serves breakfast and dinner (included in the standard rate) either in the dining hall but, weather permitting, on the large and beautiful terrace overlooking the village and the valley. In the evening there is live-music by local artists, just acoustic guitar and vocals, no amplifiers, which is great. A bonfire is set up in the yard after sunset. Hotel is located about 4-5 km to the main path down to the valley with the living root bridges, which is the main must-see in the area. This is a bit far to walk, given the long, and I mean long, stairs you have to climb down and back-up again. Taxi is about 250 IRp at time of writing. Important to note: Hotel does not accept International Credit Cards (only Indian ones), because government regulations. Take ample time for your airport transfer to Shillong (3 hrs minimum) - as the road in Shillong is often very busy.

This is a charmingly beautiful place located away from the city and is quiet and peaceful. (The hotel can arrange for a cab/driver if required and the place is easily accessible via google maps, so no accessibility issues.) I stayed in a premium room, which is quite spacious and well-lit and has a beautiful view from the window. All the facilities provided were quite good, it was extremely comfortable and felt like home. The staff members were also generally very warm and welcoming. Food was good as well. We had a wonderful time in Cherrapunjee on our various adventure trips, also courtesy the enthusiastic guide and the cab drivers, which the resort arranged for us. If you are a nature and an adventure buff, Cherrapunjee is the place to be. If you are looking for a calm and serene place away from all the noise and the hustle of the city, then Cherrapunjee Holiday Resort is the place to stay.

This place is nothing like what was shown in the pictures on web site. Hotel does not even look like a hotel. Hotel staff is so rude and negligent. We were told the dinner time from 7.30 to 9.30 as well as it was printed on their day's menu. But we were forced to eat before 8.30 as they wanted to close early. Food containers was not even refilled even while knowing that we have not even started our dinner. We had to wait for the food to be refilled to the point where we lost our apatite and decided not to eat anymore. The room structure was so bad. The bed mattresses was so horrible we could not even sleep on them. the bedsheet was put on the blankets so we had to make our own bed in the hotel room. The reception, dining area and rooms are all on the same area. Its like you open your room door and someone is eating in front of your room door. It gives you constant feeling of someone is sitting right outside your door. Probably we had too much expectations from this place after seeing the pictures and reading the reviews. Not worth a single penny.

We stayed here for 2 nights - I have never met a more hospitable place and staff. We were given everything we asked for and more by the host, Mr. Denis Ryan. We had run out of cash and the only ATM in the village was not functional - Mr Ryan immediately helped us out with the cash needed.

The resort is set away from main Sohra village. It is a lovely drive (although steep and narrow) and really gives of feeling of peace and seclusion. The staff is very courteous and try to make one as comfortable as possible, despite a bit of language constraints. The food is excellent, a mix of local, north and south cuisine. We enjoyed the parathas, noodles and rasam especially. The evening bonfire and live music also added to the ambience. The rooms open into the dining area which is a bit odd. However since only families are admitted, there wasn't any disturbance, The owner Mr Rayen is a very pleasant and knowledgable person. he gave us some good inputs on where to go. Overall, a great place to unwind and relax.
