A 3-star resort in the hills of Cherapunjee, Meghalaya accompanied with an amazing restaurant naming Sohra House restaurant has a scenic beauty and mesmerizing environment to spend your days away from the hustle filled city life.
The resort has an extraordinary surrounding where we can catch an amazing view of the seven sisters falls.
The staff is amazing and room service is upto the mark. The restaurant it has i.e the Sohra House restaurant has amazing staff. The morning complimentary breakfast buffet is something you should not give a miss which is full of healthy options to choose from. Special mention goes to the restaurant staff Mr. Budhi Sarma ,Kelly and including a few others who provided us with the best services even waiting for us beyond the breakfast hours.
However the resort should give more importance in the the maintainance of the swimming pool which doesn't have that clean water. Another con it has is the the high price of the rooms and food/beverages available. For such a small space n the limited facility in the rooms the price charged is too high around 7k to 21k per night. We stayed in a villa which costed around 18k per night for two people specially for couples and it is too much as per the rooms. A wine bottle costs around 5times the amount which is available outside....

Cherrapunji has limited number places to stay and Polo Orchid Resort is perhaps among the best options. It offers an excellent view of The Sevens Sisters Waterfall and surrounding valley. The property itself is quite beautifully maintained and has plenty of open spaces to sit in a secluded corner and enjoy the serenity of surroundings. Service in restaurant is bit slow but it was compensated with excellent taste and quality of food. Restaurant's terrace is perhaps the best place to enjoy a drink in the evening. We booked the Orchid Room and that was perhaps the only downside of our experience. Orchid Rooms are located just behind the reception area with very limited space and furnished with basic amenities. There is no feeling of privacy. Polo Orchid is a very good Resort but my recommendation is to go for at least Dew Drop Cottage if you want to have an enjoyable experience.

We reached the resort by 4 pm and on the way we trekked down to an amazing waterfall - Wei Sawdung . The room we stayed in was Misty mountain villa but I would say any room is as good . What mattered was the hospitality , the food , live music , bonfire , the infinity pool , the heavenly location and the Bhutanese peach flavoured wine to enjoy with . I had a memorable stay with my niece and plan to take my sons there for my bday . I came across a number while I googled polo resorts and fortunately it belonged to Sankhadeep the sales manager for the polo group of hotels . I was apologetic to be calling him up for bookings but his proactive helpful approach in helping me with booking and suggesting me how to get my e pass etc to suggesting places to visit n rooms to stay in etc etc went a long way in making the trip a super success . This spoke highly of the polo hospitality n the stay too echoed the same very hospitality right from the reception to the restaurant to the guard at the gate. In the pandemic times it’s always better to book directly . Polo group of hotels do not have zero cancellation bookings on any website not even their own . They ask for 50 percent adv booking charges . I was sceptical in booking as I was not sure if my rtpcr may be positive at the time of travel . I wasn’t sure if a lockdown may be called in the state I was travelling from . On speaking to Sankhadeep I was assured that if I am positive they would return the money and if there is a lick down I could go at a later date as they will honour the advance paid n I could use it . One of the best properties in Cherrapunji. The rooms were of decent size big enough to accommodate one extra bed besides the normal queen size bed. The resort is on the hills and has amazing views of seven sisters falls (although the falls had dried down when we visited). Restaurant is really good and quality of food, service, presentation was nice and neat. The chef was kind enough to accommodate the needs of kids who wanted something which was not there on their menu. Outside the restaurant there is another sitting place which is extension of the restaurant and there is live music in that area.
The resort has an infinity pool which has view of seven sisters falls. The pool was maintained properly and there were sitting beds inside the pool which made the pool experience memorable.
Overall a must stay place in Cherrapunji

Set on a cliff,the property itself is a gem that seamlessly blends into the natural beauty that surrounds it. Dewdrop cottage was very well maintained, views from the balcony of the sunrise and mountainside were breathtaking. The menu is well curated,be it breakfast, lunch or dinner the food maintained a consistent standard which was delicious. Mr Bagchi extended himself into arranging transportation due to the prevailing taxi strike and that spirit was evident in the service throughout with food and housekeeping services being particularly prompt,courteous and meticulous A very memorable stay for the peace tranquility, friendly service and overall hospitality received.

Polo orchid is a resort full of scenic beauties, calming mountain views, comfortable rooms and excellent service!! The staff is energetic and willing to go that extra mile to bring joy to the traveller. They have been so accommodating whilst our stay, we felt very well taken care of.
Our treks were organised to the t, with food baskets to go and cafes planned on the way. There was lunch by the river bed organised by the resort which was ever so exciting, and from the chef to our butler, we felt the inclination to bring a smile to our faces.
The resort manager, Mr. Biswas was a call away and helped us plan our days in detail. Every evening there was a bonfire by live music. The local Khasi students would perform to our requests while we enjoy some wine and starters in the chilling weather! Cherrapunji was surely a pleasant surprise we loved !! The place, the resort , the activities - all worth it!!

The location of the property is amazing. The check in process was smooth and efficient .The front office staff Rajiv,Jenny and Alok were very courteous and helpful. The food was delicious Chef Swagat Mehta prepared butter chicken and Kofta which was very tasty The friendly attitude and excellent culinary skills of Mr Swagat Mehta are really appreciable The restaurant staff Sovit took personal care about our food preferences when we were in the restaurant The evening bonfire and Vocal music by Mr Pradeep was very good and helped us to unwind after the tiring treks undertaken in the daytime. The SPA staff Judy and her colleague were efficient .The 13 km trek to Rainbow falls had our muscles tired and fatigued but the massage in the spa was vey relaxing and refreshing. The room was cleaned and maintained well by the housekeeping staff Shekhar and Pavitra Overall a very good experience
When in Cherrapunji always hire a guide for your treks We hired Ojoy ( 60099 66780) who was very knowledgeable as he is a local and very enthusiastic

I visited the Polo Orchid from 21st Feb to 24th Feb 2022 with my family and I had a great time.
The Bornfire setting in the evenings, having sumptuous early morning breakfast overlooking the the 7 Sisters waterfall, super helpful staff and the luxurious setting of serenity.
My family insisted that we skip the local sight-seeing and enjoy the comfort and luxury of the resort.
The staff was extremely genial and courteous.
A special mention for Mr Sauvik, Mr Rajeev and Mr Apoorva. Always smiling and helpful. Mr Sauvik always ensured that our plates were never empty.
I would definitely recommend this beautiful luxury resort to anyone coming to Cherrapunjee. Its worth the money. You are left with such fond memories.

The resort is a good place for relaxation. One can visit the Spa & get indulged in enrichment of body & soul. The buffet breakfast served is really good. One must admit that items are overpriced in the resort; might be due to the remote location & scarcity of materials. The management really needs to ramp up the network facilities in the resort as the wifi not working at all & the mobile network is seldom available.

I visited Cherrapunji and stayed at the Polo Orchid Resort for 5 nights. We stayed at their Dew Drop cottage which i feel is ideal for a couple. The room is equipped with a heater and the beds have heater as well which is really helpful provided it was quiet cold during our visit. We also stayed at the Misty Villa for a night but it is good for 4 people and it tends to get colder however it has a very lovely view and comes with a small pool. The staff at the resort was extremely courteous and helpful. Jena and Lapan received us warmly at the reception , Shekar Mondal and Pabitra Santra from housekeeping took us around the property and the rooms were pretty well kept. Shobhik , Triliancy were attentive and helpful. Special thanks to the chef for everyday breakfast I dont think there was one dish that we could falter. Also Sankhadeep from sales who managed and was extremely responsive while booking our stay. I just wish the pool at the resort and other pools attached to villa were temperature controlled since the view is spectacular and especially the common infinity pool looks amazing but it is almost impossible to get into it due to cold weather. Over all it has been a good experience and a lovely stay would like to revisit in future.

You can take photos of the resort except the pool. Pool is solely restricted to the residents. Their usp is that infinity pool and they dont allow anyone except the residents.
There are more places to choose from in the Sohra area.
