Jiva Resort is a luxurious holiday resort in Cherrapunjee (Sohra), Meghalaya. Cherrapunjee can rightfully claim to be the real abode of clouds. Once known as the rainiest place on earth, Cherrapunjee (Sohra) may have lost this pride of place to Mawsynram on the other ridge, but for a visitor the sudden rains that can create impromptu waterfalls and geysers all along the route to Cherrapunjee (Sohra) are a sight to behold! The place has legends galore to entice those with a passion for tales of yore.

A new posh resort, built to take advantage of the masses of Indian tourists to Cherrapungee (aka Sohra). It is on the edge of the drop to Bangladesh, though mist blocked the view while we were there. Our room (room 907) was excellent. Including the large en suite, it was about 50 square metres with windows overlooking the view completely filling one wall. It was very clean, with a large bed, a very large sofa, two chairs, a desk, a table, a safe, plenty of storage and tea making facilities. The en suite boasted an enormous double bath with shower over (rain head and hand held nozzles), and two basins with large mirrors. Everything worked and there was plenty of hot water.

Dinner at the hotel was pretty good. Their soups (from the Chinese section of their menu) were recommended to us, and certainly those we tried were very tasty. Otherwise we chose vegetable and fish dishes from the Indian section, and all were very good. Breakfast was only average, largely because the choice was somewhat limited. Service in both the hotel and restaurant was good.

We spent a night at the Jiva resort last week while visiting Chherapoonji. We wanted to stay for 2 nights but they were full. It's a beautiful resort with a great view and the staff are so kind and efficient. We were also considering staying at the Polo orchid but there was a big difference in the room rates. The rooms are large and luxurious with a variety of tea and coffee options, water in glass bottles (plastic free), a bath tub and a beautiful view. The food is great and the staff offer services without expecting anything in return. There's a nice bonfire in the evening and the kids can enjoy the garden, gazebo and swings. You can park your car if you've driven down. They even washed our car on our request and we just tipped the staff that did it. I highly recommend the Jiva resort and would definitely stay there again when we visit.

Really happy with the service provided by staff. Very friendly. Mr. Ryan ensured that the entire booking process was seamless for 8 people. We had a lovely bonfire in the evening, mesmerized by Mr. Ajoy singing. Good way to connect with other guests. The property is very well maintained, full of flowers and beautifully designed and we njoyed indoor sports activities especially golf for first timers. And goes without saying, the location of the property is awesome with mountains in the backdrop and serene atmosphere. Mr. Chetri and Mr. Ali were courteous and always smiling, and we njoyed the food as well. All in all, we had a very pleasant stay and we look forward to again staying in Jiva.

In one word I can say JUST SUPERB! Its small hotel with good facilities, we had two nights stay at this resort, Excellent location, beautiful valley view, great landscape, and flower plants in the garden. Very good food in Jiva restaurant, Polite, well trained, and sufficient staff in the hotel with smiling faces. They have open gym enough for basic workouts. Have good choices in food menu. Superior executive rooms are vary spacious and very good decorated with good valley views. I would give 10 out of 10 for this place, must stay if you are in cherrapunji . They keep live music with bonfire. They also provided us with masseurs from outside who were very good and at very reasonable price. Only issue is with mobile networks & wifi . Mr.Ryan helped us out in all the aspect .

the rooms are good sized and the food is decent. is a small quaint hotel with nice small garden in front. the restaurant staff was very accommodating and paneer was to die for.

but small things the hotel needs to take care of.

it rained a lot and they did not have emough umbrellas.

the table tennis table and foosball table is not kept well at all. it cost a few thousand rupees to get 2 proper rackets and fix the foosball table. Also the pool table is nicely setup but no chalk. some times hotels just put stuff to give a list of things they have but no point of having this stuff if u are not going to keep them well maintained.

the bed was too too soft not comfortable. overall was average experience not too good not too bad.

This review is for the General Manager and the Resort Owners. Your resort is in a lamentable state. I feel sorry for myself that I had convinced my family to stay here.

We tried or rather should I say struggled to make the reservation for your Presidential Suite as none of your team members were interested in picking up the call. We even tried your whatsapp number listed on the website but no luck.

We reached at your resort and asked the manager for PS, he bluntly refused and said it's not available for tonight. We tried explaining him our challenges of booking, instead of understanding, he was mocking at us. I've never seen something like this in my entire life. Forget empathy, he was not even aware what sympathy is, and I believe you are in the business of hospitality.

Finally, someone came stating himself as the Hotel Manager and tried solving our issue. We were told that we can get the suite but it'll take around 1 hour to clean it. We went to the restaurant for lunch and I must say the food was amazing.

We went to the room, Jacuzzi was broken and lights were not functional. I informed this to the same gentleman, he again laughed and said we know that these two are non operational. We were never told about this.
Wifi is a disaster. Doesn't work at all. Bonfire was supposed to start at 7 pm but stared after 8 pm. People came to see but went back to their rooms.

We were actually cribbing that why did we stay here. The only silver lining in the stay was Manoj (Restaurant Manager) and Nayan (Restaurant Team Member) who went above and beyond to ensure we relish our meals. Kudos to them. They are the ones who are saving your sinking ship I must say. But for how long will they be able to that nobody knows.

Someone needs to go and address these issues at the earliest. I must say there are better places in Sohra to stay.

The food was very nice and delicious, the service was also very prompt and quick. The location which is quite scenic and serene adds to the overall experience which is totally pleasant. The service people such as Jiabur Rehman and Aftab Ali were very cordial and they discharged their duties very professionally.
