5 of us stayed at this home stay last month. The owners, their children and staff are very friendly and helpful. We had access to their home, sitting rooms, Internet, dining area and much more. We ate most of our meals there as the food was very good and freshly cooked. The only drawback was the very hard beds, with a hard board at the bottom and a thin mattress on top, that gave us all sleepless nights and back problems. As this home stay is not often used, other than during the Hornbill Festival, some of the rooms are rundown and not well kept.
The Sun View Lodge is located on one end of Kohima from where you get the most breath-taking view of the stepped cultural landscape. Apart from the view, the location is much more peaceful than the other 'city centre' places. We stayed there during the Hornbill Festival and it was an absolute joy. The owners of the place are the Wallings, a mid aged couple. They are very well informed about the area and will provide all kind of services; delicious Ao Naga cuisine (on request), travel tips, transportation, trekking details etc. (all chargeable). The rooms are neat and clean, the help is also kind and hardworking. I would definitely suggest this homestay cum lodge for future Kohima aspirants.
