The one thing that strikes your mind after your stay here is the great hospitality of the hosts (Hasi and sisters). They are very genial and wonderful people who make you feel at home. The food was delicious and fresh. If you are a south Indian, you will love their rice! I would like to also appreciate the guide who accompanied us. She was very knowledgeable and knew how to guide us, though it was her first!! The place is walkable distance from the Hornbill festival.
Very hospitable hosts and definitely I'm staying again in Lalhou for my next visit to Nagaland. Food prepared was delicious to get my taste buds some local Naga delicacies. This place is the nearest to the Hornbill Festival venue which is a 10-15mins walk.
The location is ideal, just a kilometre from the heritage village of Kisama where the Hornbill Festival is held. The family running it are warm and caring and food is fairly good. There is a lovely terrace where one can spend quiet mornings and evenings and gaze into the lush forests below. However the living spaces need to be better. The rooms are small, and the ones we stayed in at least, partitioned by plywood boards, that do not cut off the noise and can also be a hazard especially if when heaters are used. The bathroom could do with a wash basin. Overall cleanliness needs to improve, especially in the dorms.
Wanted to see north west India and had pleasure of staying at Lalhou Homestay. Mez and driver/tour guide went above and beyond. Trip if a lifetime!! Great tours we would have never been able to find ourselves.
