Hotel management rude, discriminative ,argumentative and attempted to shout at me and bully me as a customer. Witnessed the manager, abuse their own staff. Taking advantage of governments quarantine rules, overcharging guests. 8 days n nights stay and no hot water I our room.! Smashed glass tables and broken doors that risk my children to be injured. The door of the toilet didn’t lock and I was questioned why I need to lock the door as we are family, when mentioned the issue. I could not believe what I was hearing. The list can go on and on..... See attached photos..... Last day of quarantine and the management asked for money under the table , to look aside if I wanted to go outside (I assume thats if I did , they would notify police to get u in trouble) Room was dirty, bedsheets and pillows had actual dirt (mud, soil) and their explanation to this was that this is a country full of dirt !!! Governments rule is 7 days quarantine but they claim they don't know but turns out they systematically, (even thought the are obligated to organise the customer tests on the 7th day if their stay)organise the tests for their guests on 8th or 9th day, in result of charging more days of stay. Save yourself and loved ones from being disrespted over and over again STAY WELL AWAY FROM THIS SO CALLED HOTEL.... they shouldn't even be a hostel.... shouldn't even be open. Any issues I told them they sideways insulted me and spoke to me like i was 5 years old !!

Pros Large family suite consists of two bedrooms and ensuite in each with a jointly accessed lounge inbetween Suite has plenty of space and accomodates 4 people (1 double bed and two singles) Air conditioned rooms Working safe provided Small fridge provided although smelt a little and in need of cleaning Small hotel car park available Doorman/ security very helpful and friendly Central location near dorga Cons Building is locked after 12am with a chain and padlock for apparently security reasons with no way for guests to enter or leave without calling security to unlock as there were also no fire exits we could see or which we were shown . This is a potentially major fire safety issue!!! When flagged to hotel staff, they pointed to a fire hose and said that is how they would deal with the fire risk. Inconsistent approach and policy on settling bills. We expected that bills would be settled at end of our stay at the hotel and there was no documentation or signage or information issued to suggest otherwise. After 6 days of our planned 9 day stay demands were made to settle our bills to date despite no costs being charged to our room as there are no other facilities provided by the hotel which would incur any costs that might be charged to the room. Different people at reception provided different information on when payment could be made. Upon returning to hotel we were advised that we could not access our room unless the costs to date were settled based on managers instructions requiring us to incur cost and unfavourable exchange rates in withdrawing money from cash machines as banks were closed in order to settle the bill (hotel doesn't take card payments). We requested to speak to manager who was unavailable face to face but spoke on phone and advised that it was their policy despite not being documented. We were advised on day 6 that it was their policy to require payment to be made every 3 days and staff should have told us this and acknowledged was a mistake on their part. No bath in either ensuite Cost 1200bdt (approximately 120 gbp) normally although it is possible to get discounts meaning we paid 6000 bdt per night which is still a lot of money for Bangladesh with many people's monthly salary in reasonably paid jobs being less than this. Given labour costs in Bangladesh are so low and prices charged for the rooms, you would expect rooms to be cleaned regularly and be maintained to high levels of cleanliness and working order. Sadly this was not the case. Rooms are tired and in need of refurbishment. Blinds were broken with gaps and didn't open making it difficult to look outside Walls had marks and stains Very noisy outside particularly between 5am and 12pm despite our room.being located on 9th floor Television remote in main bedroom worked intermittently but all tv channels were fuzzy and had very poor picture quality Rooms only serviced upon request Towels and linen whilst clean were often stained / discoloured and had tears Only 1 towel provided in each bathroom Not all lights worked with some bulbs appearing to need changing but no action being taken during our stay of over a weeks duration Light switches not positioned near beds meaning you have to get out of bed to switch off light and get in bed in dark. Not enough plugs sockets provided 2 lifts in hotel but only 1 is ever working at any one time. Lifts do not go to ground floor requiring use of a flight of stairs to enter and access building which would be restrictive for disabled / wheelchair access No iron or ironing board available anywhere in hotel. No tea making facilities provided in room although bottled water provided Bathroom had soap dispensers etc but didn't work or have any soap. Walls were marked / slightly stained in parts. Main master bedroom shower, water would not drain out fast enough meaning you would be standing in an inch of water after a few minutes of showering. Not addressed despite requests. Hot water worked/ available intermittently and required taps and shower to be left running for over 5 mins before warmer water would flow. Water temperature varies from occasion to occasion bordering on cold on many occasions to Luke warm generally to very hot on 1 occasion during my stay. Breakfast provided was same every day pretty much consisting of tea / coffee, rice, cardboard like Paratha, fried egg and dahl, cordial, bottled water and on occasion a sweet desert type dish. No milk, cereal or fruit options. Bed was extremely hard and pillows firm.  Overall: not sure how this compares to other hotels in Bangladesh but given price, you get plenty of space for your money but the fire safety in particular is worrying, and conditions in room were below expectations along with customer service / conditions of room based on comparing to 3 star hotels in the UK.

Highly centrally placed, walking distance from Sylhet’s main attraction, the Dargah Sharif of the 13th century Saint, Hazrat Shah Jalal (R.A.). Entrance to the hotel is difficult as one has to climb a flight of circular stairs to get to the Lobby. The elevator doesn’t come to the ground floor. Although we were met at the gate by smiling faces, I found that those at the desk didn’t seem to smile but were efficient. The hotel was fully booked since it was hosting an Annual Meeting of a large bank. As a result we didn’t get hot water in the shower. The buffet breakfast could be improved. The resturant on the hotel top is fun and one gets a full view of the city.

Hotel is well located. Rooms was big enough and clean. Roof top restaurant is very presentable. Gives you a fantastic view of Sylhet city. Complementary breakfast is very ordinary. Approach to Lobby is not disable friendly. One needs to walk up a floor to approach the lobby (elevator does not reach the ground floor).

I was just on a business trip in Sylhet. I was very much busy these days. I run after in several hotels in Sylhet but none of them are so much good to refer to my clients. At last, I saw La Rose hotel. I just had a look on this room an service's. I book a room with complimentary breakfast. Room was just marvelous. I just had an awesome night there.

I stayed at La Rose as the guest of local people, who identified it as at the top of what is available in Sylhet. It is convenient to central Sylhet and local venues. Staff were absolutely great, although they have a terrible habit of knocking on the door after 21:30 to give you your breakfast voucher and to check if everything is OK-- not so good for international travellers trying to catch up on sleep! (Please, guys, just slip it under the door, or give it to me when I check in!) The room is basic, and the beds hard- I ended up sleeping on top of the blanket for another layer of padding between me and the bedsprings). The hotel is clean throughout, and frequently hosts local events (weddings, banquets, etc.). Wifi is free but unreliable, and cut out completely during my last night. Extras in the room include bathroom toiletries, and that's all-- no place to unpack, and power points are very limited. International travellers should check for toilet paper, as it will be expected that you will wash with water, and no extra toilet paper is available in the room. Hot water takes at least 5-7 minutes to appear, but I was forewarned about that. The street noise is epic throughout urban Bangladesh so get a room as high up as possible and keep your windows shut (the horns are more muted between 2100-0400, but not much), and keep your earplugs/phones to hand if you're a light sleeper; call to first prayers starts around 0530. The restaurant on top of the hotel is fine- a local breakfast buffet is provided (but doesn't start until 0800), and an evening meal is both a la carte and set menu. The food is good, although for a place located in the Assam region I'm not sure why they don't feature good local tea. This is a fine place to stay for a short visit, with great and very accommodating staff.
