During our European trip in July this year, we stumbled upon this hotel late one afternoon and still rate our stay as one of the highlights of our accommodation during our trip. We were met by Catherine who wasn't the least phased by our late arrival and request for dinner for 4. The meal she created was superb. The hotel...

We passed this small hotel many years ago and promised ourselves we would go back and stay. We finally made it back in July but just for one night and immediately wished we could stay longer. The room was simply furnished but very comfortable. It looked out over the terrace and river. The terrace with its comfortable chairs and peaceful...

If you are looking for an overnight in Nimes before catching a train or plane you may wish to consider hard before driving almost two hours to get to Les Plantiers. If, however, you have the time it is well worth the effort. The hostess is a charming French lady called Catherine ( no one calls her Madame). She welcomes...

Catherine is a perfect host and serves a lovely breakfast on the terrace overlooking this very cute village. She also is wonderful cook and prepares a delicious 3 course home cooked meal. Ensuite rooms in a rustic setting. N.B. Very small village. 1 other restaurant which is also excellent. 1 bar/tabac and 1 small store. Beautiful swimming hole right in...

We selected this charming B&B based on the comments on Trip Advisor, which led us to believe it was located in or near Nimes. As a result we were lost for hours - first in the city of Nimes and then in the mountains, in the dark, with our tired and scared children. This B&B is located in the tiny,...

We needed to get away from sightseeing in Provence and decided to go to the mountains. Catherine's auberge was what we needed!. Our room overlooked the river and we were able to watch a tableau of nature pass us by. Of course what made our stay a treat was the wonderful food lovingly prepared by our host. This is a...

I won't repeat all the good things said about Catherine, her hotel and her cooking - just believe them! Instead I will add a little advice. The village is miles from anywhere along twisty and sometimes narrow roads - so leave plenty of time for your journey. Bring with you what you need - there are no handy supermarkets, although...

We stayed here for 3 nights. The location of this auberge is perfect for walking in this part of the Cevennes. It is located in a small village which has a small shop and a bar. The room we had were very comfortable, overlooking the stream and the hills at the rear of the property. The truly outstanding aspect of...

We spent two peaceful nights at the Auberge du Valgrand. It is tucked away in a charming village overlooking a river. The experience was excellent. The innkeeper is charming and attentive, and prepared for us some lovely breakfasts with eggs, juice, chocolate, breads, homemade yogurt, etc. She also cooked us a dinner that melted in our mouths. We looked at...

This small auberge is in a village of 250 people in the heart of the southern Cevennes national park about 1.5 hours drive north of Nimes. Catherine runs it almost single handedly as a home in which the welcome is as if you are old friends. Her cooking is wonderful and she ha furnished the rooms simply but beautifully. Meals...
