We loved this place. The rooms were beautiful, the setting utterly charming as was the service (most of the time). We stayed here with another couple for two nights on our way to Ile de Re, and loved every moment. The rooms are old-fashioned and quaint (in a chateau kind of way) with old furniture and double doors. It was...

We were four guests on a 6 day wine trip through the Loire and this was one of the castles we stayed at. It was our worst experience due to the poor service. First of all the castle is a very impressive structure and the public reception & sitting rooms are decorated in elegant style (though I found the dining...

We stayed for three nights. The place is really lovely and impressive as it is a castle. They maintain the "old-classic" decoration, but well preserved with renewed bathrooms. Rooms are very spacious, with good amenities. Good service but not outstanding for the prices. Restaurant is very expensive for the "standard food" they offer, nothing special. We recommend to dinner at...

We had a wonderful overnight stay at the Chateau de Marcay with dinner, bed and breakfast. The staff were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble. The room was large and well decorated. The bed very comfortable with good quality linen and the temperature was perfect for March. We asked if it was possible to see the wine cellar, and one of...

Impressive towers and very comfortable top floor guestroom. Location is peaceful, and the outdoor pool was nice. Reception staff were hospitable and spoke English quite well. Dinner was underwhelming, as several meat courses were served nearly raw. Of our two weeks at chateau and abbey hotels this place had the most expensive and skimpiest breakfast.

We had a king room with a sofa bed for the 3 or us. The room was big and comfortable. However, we did not get to stay in the main tower, but in the annex to the hotel. We did the wine cave tour and loved tasting and hearing about the local wines. We also had 1 amazing dinner at...

Lovely property in a serene location near Chinon. Decor was a mix of modern and traditional. Staff were pleasant. Nice bedding and very comfortable room. Cosy fireplace in the lounge area. A nice rural Chateau retreat.

The Chateau De March is beautiful. It has a long tree lined drive as an entry and then a complex of buildings dominated by the main four story structure with turrets. It is out in the country, use GPS, and is surrounded by farms and horse pastures. We spent two nights and did not find a single reason to complain....

Had wonderful stay at Chateau de Marcay. Dinner at restaurant 2 nights, very nice. Highly recommend. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Grounds were big and very cozy. Relaxed outside one day playing games and drinking wine. Great time and Marcay!

We recently went on a Backroads Bike Trip through the Loire Valley. We stayed at 3 very nice Chateaus - but this was the nicest property. The food was excellent and the ground immaculate. A number of different rooms, settings to take in the scenery. Unlike some of the older Chateaus there was air conditioning.
