Charming hotel, beautifully restored and well maintained with highly professional staff. The restaurant has a great chef and the service is superb. The proprietors are always available on site and are highly accommodating to the needs of the guests.

A beautifully restored building, with great hotel rooms, a beautiful dining room, and a wonderful outside area for an afternoon drink or al fresco meal. The food is destination quality, of the highest caliber, and the hotel and restaurant seem favored by locals, not just tourists. Each meal we had there was a delight. The available packages for bookings include...

Swiss hotels are no longer famous for their excellency - even the Swiss prefer to stay in Austrian hotels for their winter vacations, simply because the service and the standard in Swiss hotels (except for the most upscale ones) is usually shoddy. So Chesa Salis seemed to be the big exception - beautifully situated, in a grand old typical Engadin...

The Chesa Salis is truly a romantic cosy quiet little hotel where to spend a couple of nights away from the herds of tourists crowding St. Moritz but equally close to all gorgeous places in Engadin. The building host in the hotel is an old house fully renovated with a gorgeous garden that in summer is worth in itself a...

My wife and I visited the Chesa Salis for the first time in June 2009. Unfortunately we were then only able to stay one night. This time we stayed for the better part of a week and were again quite impressed by the location, the excellent food and the almost encyclopedic wine list! We had a wonderful room all panelled...

We stayed at Chesa Salis for three days in February 2014 and it was a perfect choice. The old house is beautiful and the rooms are nicely renovated. We stayed in on of the smaller ones and still had everything we needed. The biggest plus of the hotel in my opinion is the excellent service. Mr. and Mrs Degiacomi and...

Arriving at this beautiful Engadinian house which is over 400 years old is already a joy! The inside is carefully restored and covered with art work of various arists. I have been at Chesa Salis twice this year, the owners and all the staff are very professional but friendly at the same time. I did like the very romantic room they gave us, but there is a good choice of different accomodations for everybody. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hotel Chesa Salis'Worth a whole roll of film' trumpeted the report on this house that dates back to the 16thC but was embellished by the patrician Salis family who bought it in 1870. 'It's old, it's not practical but we love it,' says Jurg Degiacomi, the owner of the house since 1982 together with his wife. The restaurant has a fine reputation with menus include local as well as classic French and Italian dishes. 'We are away from the village, we don't have a swimming-pool, so we spoil our guests with good food.' The carved front door remains, matched by an elaborate wrought-iron gate. Off to one side is a small room for private parties that is 'like a doll's house, completely wood-panelled, with book-shelves, an escritoire and tiny windows'. The noble heritage of the building is witnessed today by its meter-thick walls, handsome craftsmanship, beautiful wood paneling, outstanding paintings, handsome beamed ceilings, intricate plaster etching on the exterior walls, frescoed ceilings, and colorful ceramic fireplaces. When you enter the reception area, there is an eclectic mix of old and new with handsome antiques blending with black leather sofas, and a contemporary glass counter highlighted by a modern painting. In contrast, most of the furnishings are definitely traditional in style. All of the guestrooms are lovely. Room 26 is a particularly spacious, beautiful room with large windows looking out to the garden. The most stunning room of all, #35, is tucked up under the eaves. Its white-washed paneled walls and low ceiling are exquisitely painted with antique, floral designs - like a music box. 'If only grandma's house had looked like this' was our reporter's final comment. ... more   less
